Going underground in the coal mine is a unique experience highly recommended to both local and international visitors. We did the dutch-speaking tour with the outstanding guide Jose, who is a retired coal miner from the nearby province of Belgian Limburg. It was one of the best guided tours any of the people in our party had ever done. The on-site cafe is also recommended, serving up sandwiches and local meals and beers.

After initial dressing up with miners vest and helmet your group goes underground under guidance of an ex miner . As most galleries are flooded nowadays , we only go 60 meters down with the original mine elevator . Here you get to see how brutal mining work actually was . Later on you get to see the mine installation for washing and size triage . A must see industrial heritage . Don't forget to pay a visit to the cantine for a snack and a local beer.

Interesting visit Experienced guide (Jan) Sometimes there can be a lot of noise. Keep that in mind. Various activities on site. Dutch tours available. Parking without shade. Museum at the far end of the site, is large and quiet. Worth a visit, close to Liege/Luik

What an absolutely amazing experience! The guides are really interested and capable of telling vivid stories. Our tour took longer then planned but it was so worth it! To be able to go down so deep, see so many parts of the mines and experience the machines they were working with is just amazing! An absolutely must to visit!

We go here mainly for the delightful mobile home parking area, open all year with services. Free to park and to use the services; electricity €2 for 24 hours. My husband enjoyed his visit to the mine.

Fantastic experience. You get to go 60 meters below ground and learn about the work conditions of the miners back then. The guide was enthousiatic and we got to learn a lot. Visits are in French and Dutch but you can get an audio-guide for other languages. On top of the mine visit, you can visit the museum which is well kept. Additionally there are 3 large modern playgrounds.

A nice off beat location and good to visit. Less explored by tourists. Be mindful that guide speaks only French or Dutch. English speaking people are provided with an Audio guide for the tour. Though the guide doesn't explain in English, they are open to answer your questions to the extent possible. Tips are not expected, but welcomed by them.

It's definitely worth a visit! With a tour guide you can explore the old mine. The tour guide who talked Dutch was very funny and explained a lot to our tour group. Remember to wear warm clothes and comfortable walking shoes if you want to explore the mine!

Fantastic little mine experience. In person guides only in Flemish or French, but audiobook guide you can use that was informative. 9 euro for entry into the mine. Bring a coat it's 10 degrees down inside. You get a tour of the washing/screening plant as well. We took our tour during Corona Virus restrictions and still enjoyed it. Restaurant could be better - took ages to be served once we were seated.

My grandfather used to work in the mines for 15 years… that’s really good to visit so we could face with it.

Fascinating to experience the mine below and above ground. The guides are French and Dutch speaking. It is possible to borrow recorded guides in other languages which we unfortunately first realized afterward. You can buy the tickets before your visit to save time.

Very nice mining Museum! We booked our Tour a few hours in advance. The tour was in Dutch but one of us translated. The tour was held by an actual miner who worked in the mine while it was active. You go down to a depth of 30 and 60 m. It's also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and mining was very important for the region.

Nice historic place shows the mine development. A little bit long tour. The guide doesn't know English.

Awesome place. C-Mine is nothing compared to this: you really can see, feel and hear the history of the mining laborers and machines. We really loved this placed. Our tour guide, Jan, an ex miner himself, was eloquent, funny and empathic; he made the tour even grander.

Nice piece of the local history. The visit is well organized and goes by quite fast. They also provide guides in English or German so I was able to enjoy it too.

Very interesting tour, really nice mine to take a look at how they worked. Don't forget there is a museum as well which has a lot of information about the history of coal mining

👍 De bons souvenirs en groupe, bonne restauration sans prétention, service plutôt agréable. Adresse assez courue, donc parfois un peu bruyante
