If I could place 0 stars, I would. This was one of the freakiest experiences I’ve had in a hostel. We were a group of 8 people who stayed at the hostel and being placed next to strangers without our knowledge was concerning. The room smelled horrible, people were not respectful, and the bathrooms were always dirty. Not only that, but many of us ended up with skin allergies from the beds. I would not recommend staying in this hostel. They really need to change their publicity and their description prior to booking, because none of it is true. The only good thing about it was the location, but I would rather stay further away from the beach… than stay here. When we needed help from the staff, we found them doing *the dirty.* Some of us had problems with the guests several times. We booked for a week, and two of us had strangers sleeping on our assigned beds when we arrived back to the hostel. I could say that I do like the name of the hostel “HELP YOUR SELF.” It fits perfectly, because if you want something, you need to do it for yourself… and others will help themselves to pleasuring next to you.

There is a lot to say about this hostel but I'm not going to say just bad things because I stayed for two months It's a spacious place with a swimming pool near a train station, a wonderful beach for surfing and there are a lot of shops around The reception maintenance team is renewed quite often but generally they do their job well, they are people who come from afar for the most part, they are looking for recognition and a better quality of life. now we are going to talk about the big problems of this place caused by poor management of a surely negligent owner and one or more incompetent and irresponsible Manager During my stay here I saw five assaults, mostly on girls who work for the hostel. I never saw the owner or the Manager come to see anything or try to comfort his team, I had to intervene myself on aggressions inside the hostel to make the attackers leave we had to leave the place about ten days because of bedbug's On our return we had no compensation for this and the manager asked us to pay again the tourist tax that we had already paid, we should never have returned To newcomers, guests, or workers you can now have your own opinion before coming to these places think carefully many people left very quickly because they did not come to Europe to relive the same scenes of violence as in their country of origin. This was the most horrible experience i ever had and I will never go to a hostel again. We booked the room for 9 people on Booking(so that we will all sleep in one room)and then we needed to wait dor almost an hour when we came to the location. Then they told us that two of us need to sleep separate from 7 other people. This was my friend and I. We were placed in a room with 6 other strangers. They said that we will get towels and then they told us that washing machine don’t work… i was scared so much. My skin started to itch so much…and everything have weird smell. 0/5

Big private room with toilette for us 3, and we could have more family members for a little cost increase. Heating was not working, but they arranged for an alternative solution. The train is only heard early morning onwards. We're happy.

horrendous experience in a dirty bedroom shared with 20 people for one bathroom. cherish of cake was the manager Pedro drunk that had sex with a guest in a bunk bed beside mine after people partying and smoking above the room. lack of cleanliness, everywhere. most disgusting experience ever in a hostel. i presented a formal complaint and no action for two nights in a row. i paid for a hostel and had a messy place.

They really have to address the bedbug issue. People were getting all bit up. They need to research online how to fix this. Each breed should be encased in bed-bug proof covering and a heat treatment that heats the WHOLE ROOM UP TO A TEMPERATURE THAT KILLS THEM. Staff was nice though. Would not stay there again.

Great location, 5 min walking to the train station(by train 20 min to Lisbon and 15 min to Cascais), 15 min walking to the beach... Friendly environment, nice people, comfy bed. And the swimming pool is definitely a plus. Great value for the price, btw.

I stayed for 3 weeks at HYH and I had a really positive experience. The staff and especially the manager helped me out in a rough time and handled a tough situation I was involved in really professionally. The staff are all very friendly and supportive and ensure the guests are safe. The hostel is well loved and heavily trafficked and is the best deal in town. If you're looking for a luxury hostel, look to pay luxury prices. This hostel fulfills the needs of traveller's on a budget and I'm thankful for it! Thanks Carol, and staff. Hope to see you again.

Die Dame an der Rezeption konnte kein Englisch, was mit Google translater aber kein Problem war. 18 Personen Zimmer mit einer Toilette und Dusche ist ein wenig mager, heißes Wasser bekam man auch erst nach 5 laufen lassen. Der Druck des Wassers war eher ein tröpfeln. Super Lage, tolle Leute und schöne Gemeinschafts räume. Also an sich super 👍

It's a mixed hostel with the opportunity to meet people from different places. Just like it's name, you help yourself and help others where possible

Ive a great time so far ,swiming in d pool every day,watch great móvies and all the news,all staff is top towards the people from all Over the world and they all café about theyre needs even off duty.thats great for both sides ,staff n custumers.ii feel safe of Corona vírus gere but never the less ill propose to the manager a portable temperatura scanning to new commers.pool is tested every day ir 2,so peiple are safe to swim as they wsnt.silence hours are respected,if not One of the staff hadles the problem instantly with polytness ,flexibility and capable of being polyte but firme handling the situation on the spot.but the down SIDE os people stealing food from others,sometimes happens,but i think even with that risco u jist out a signature il a panela and so os easyer to find out food ,. Having Said that i think we need até least One more freezer.with time ill make new friends with as all.ive quite a few with total diferent coultures.the Beda are super confy and washed when you feel like ir normaly new seets every week, Theresa a natural circulation of sir só the oxygen spreads Faster then bacteryes,like ive mentioned all guests have to follow OMS and local aithoryties,só o feel like Im in my own house on a mixes internacional guests..all ages, colors ir belieafes ir even religion or sexual orientation Each of US are free without missjuging others. Thays why ive pires 5top stars to all the aspectos and when i leave ill Hilly recomendo ir with memotys that can bac ir up..só being here until its FUNFUCKINGTASTiC

This was the first Hostel I slept starting my Trip in Europe. Beautifull area very Close from Lisbon by train And walking 5 minutes to Carcavelos beach. Have also good price

I went to visit the place. The room is so packed that it smells too much of people. They only have two showers for more than 20 beds. I didn't stay.

Horrible! Do yourself a favor and do not go there !!! it's not a place for tourist! pepole of all kinds are leveling there. I arrived on 12/7/21 and paid in cash (thay accepted only cash) until 24/7/21 And the receptionist "volunteer" named Christina said I would receive the reception by email that evening - it did not happen! On the third day I asked to leave because I was in a room full of guys who smoked and drink inside the room!!! and I did not feel safe! I also asked for a receipt for the days I paid and they sent me a receipt for days from June! The manager refused to return the money to me and I made complaint with the police, the Red Book, and the hostelworld. Not reliable. Disrespectful attitude. Dirty and unpleasant. Help yourself and go to a normal place. edit- your continue to lie. lucky me, I have all the evidence I'm assum that until know it work for you to be a criminal. but even if it's going to take yers- we meet at the court and you going to pay me everything and more and to the tax authority also. I will teach you the law.
