Two police were called on a car Sunday morning before service, after the car stayed all night due to the water pump going out. Saturday night the couple in the car had a pleasant encounter with a concerned church worker who was kind enough to buy cheeseburgers and water for them. At first glance it looked to be a pleasant church experience for a couple having car problems. However, the next morning the police were called and they were chased off the premises before the church service even began. Obviously they were not criminals, cuz they were let go. They wanted to go to church but were chased off before the church gathered any facts about them. So you're out of town and you have car problems and you need a place to park, a church would normally be merciful and welcoming without pursuing criminal investigations, at least they would have 2 guaranteed for church service, normally that is. Not so here!! That's not the wonderful welcoming reception that our Lord and Savior had in mind by example of the Good Samaritan. So the one star given is meant for the one true Good Samaritan who brought cheeseburgers and water to the couple. The heart of the church is obviously NOT love or welcoming but on the contrary, very self centered, heartless, and cruel, while believing in their own blindness that they're doing God service. Therefore, please use wisdom and good discernment before considering this church seriously.

FFC is a teaching church that takes the Word of God seriously. Nothing takes more importance than sharing the Gospel. The community serves and gives, producing fully functioning followers of Christ so much so that church planting and missions are frequent and common. Leadership is humble and wise and ministries from Children, to Women, to Worship, are all lead with the same goal: to share the Gospel and equip the Saints. Thankful to have found this church body!

Have you ever been to church and felt like the preacher was preaching down to or at you? I've visited a lot of churches all over this country, and that IS DEFINITELY NOT the case at First Family. On the contrary our experience at First Family last week was one which we felt the preacher was learning, growing and sharing WITH us,...he even took questions during the sermon with lots of people in attendance! If we lived near Ankeny we would definitely consider First Family as our church home.

My family and I have been members of First Family for 8 years now. It is a wonderful, welcoming environment! Pastor Todd preaches the Word with boldness and clarity. The church body is serious about seeing lost people come to Christ as they invest heavily in international missions and church planting.

I love this church. It is a great group of worshippers of God in Spirit and Truth. My life is not the same after being a member.
