Surprised to see that there were quite a few Ethiopian restaurants during the stay in Sioux Falls a few weeks ago, we decided to give it a try. The owner was very nice to explain to us about the food on the menu, and a little about the culture. We enjoyed the food, especially tasty to eat with our own hands, we also like the decoration

This was a MOST pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was very clean, comfortable and welcoming, with ethnic and cultural art throughout, but the real surprise was in the cuisine! This was a delicious experience in culture, cuisine and the art of hospitality. What a pleasant and wonderful addition to Sioux Falls. I left feeling grateful in gut and grace.

A great find. The food was delicious. The appetizer Sambusa was served with an excellent spicy dipping sauce. We tried the lamb stew and the lamb tips and both were tender and spiced perfectly. Had the Ethiopian beers and they matched well with the food. Highly recommended.

Super delicious Ethiopian food. It’s very authentic and the owner is the server as well. He takes very good care of the guest and makes you feel like at home. I am returning for more. I was vegan and they accommodated my needs.

First time trying Ethiopian food and I'm glad I came to the right restaurant. The owner was amazing and provided friendly and attentive service. I recommend the Awaze beef tibs if you like a little spice in your meal. The Injera bread is awesome, it reminds me of an Indian bread called Dosa due to its similar texture and flavor. If you're in the mood to try something new or looking for a good Ethiopian restaurant, Lalibela has you covered!

While looking up best restaurants in Sioux Falls, Lalibela restaurant continued to pop up in my search. Never having eaten Ethiopian food before, my husband and I were intrigued and decided we would give it a try while we were in town. We were not disappointed! We ate at Lalibela on 6/9/23. The waitress was very patient and kind when we said we had never eaten this type of food before. She briefly explained how you eat with injera instead of utensils. She also was eager to answer any questions we had and to make suggestions. We ordered the meat sambusa as an appetizer which was my favorite thing. Piping hot, pastry shell was perfectly crisp, meat was flavorful, and the sauce was a wonderful accompaniment. For our entrees, my husband went with a combination platter while I had the beef tibs. Every bite was excellent. The only downside is we live 15 hours away from Sioux Falls, and we will have to try to find an Ethiopian restaurant close to home!

We like Ethiopian food in general and decided to try this place while visiting Sioux Falls. I called about a reservation on a Saturday night, but the owner said it was not necessary. Management was very friendly when we arrived. We got a two-combo vegetarian plate and a multi-combo meat plate, along with Ethiopian beer which my husband said was pretty good. Tasty food. It’s always different eating with hands for the first few minutes and then seems normal. Worth a visit!

Lalibela is such a wonderful restaurant. I came to Sioux Falls for work and was delighted to find an Ethiopian restaurant. Ordered the vegetarian platter and was pleased. Each option was savory seasoned and tasty. I ate so much I had to unzip my pants lol service was of excellent quality. The owner of the restaurant was accommodating , super pleasant, and so kind. Just to ensure this was the best Ethiopian restaurant, I checked out two others in the area and Lalibela is by far the best one. I’ll be eating here multiple times before I get back to the east coast. Thank you so much for the wonderful food.

I had the beef key wot and it was delicious. The menu said that it was going to be spicy but I didn't think that it was. It was the perfect blend of spices. We went around noon on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy. Our service was good and we were not rushed. There was a very diverse group of customers. I would eat here again and recommend.

Lalibela is one of our favorite places, though it seems we don't get there often. It is always a difficult decision on what to get. We eventually decided on tibs (steak), misir wot (lentils), ybeg wot (lamb stew), and gomen (collard greens). They insist in giving us lettuce, though we don't often eat it. The injera is amazing as well. The server wasn't overly attentive, but with food this amazing, I'll forgive her.

Absolutely fantastic food! My dad and I had never had Ethiopian before and wanted to try something new today so we googled Ethiopian restaurants in the area and went here. Everything was delicious and the waiter was very helpful and gave excellent advice for first-timers like us. The restaurant itself was gorgeous with a ton of really neat artwork and nice music.

Friendly staff, food that is bursting with flavor, and generous portions. Sadly I live 800 miles away from this place or I'd eat here every day. We literally plan our roadtrips to the Midwest around a lunch or dinner stop here. Their injera is so addictive and I think the miser key wot is one of the best dishes anywhere.

I would have eaten there every day I was in Sioux Falls, but my colleague need more diversity in food selection. The food was incredible and the owner is one of the most pleasant people you will ever meet. Eat here if you so happen to visit Sioux Falls. We ate at other Ethiopian restaurants in Sioux Falls and this is by far the best. If you need something other than over cooked meat and fries then come here. Will be back.

Excellent Ethiopian food. Try their delicious coffee as well, feels authentic although I am not a expert. We went late on a Friday afternoon so were the only patrons there. Blown away with the chicken sambusa, very fresh and tasty. Also impressed with their Gomen and Doro Wat. Highly recommend it.

A must try for Ethiopian cuisine in Sioux Falls. But, don't take my word for it, watch season 39 of Guy Fieri's Triple D and see for yourself! I thoroughly enjoyed the spicy beef dish, Awaze Tibs. And don't forget to enjoy a nice strong cup of Ethiopian coffee while you're there.

Lalibela has the best Ethiopian cuisine my husband and I have ever had! It is truly authentic from the injera, to Shiro and gormen to the fabulous honey wine. This is a MUST if you are ever in Souix Falls.

Let me begin by saying that I’ve been eating Ethiopian food for over twenty years, and this is hands down the absolute best I have ever had. I had the shiro, miser key wot, and ater wot - these were unbelievably amazing. The owner made my husband an off menu potato dish that was also fantastic. If you are passing through Sioux Falls, please treat yourself to this food.

Cannot say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant. Makes you forget you’re in Sioux Falls, South Dakota but this place is an establishment. Our server was the owner who took the time to explain everything and answer all my questions! Had the combination platter to try a bit of everything, highlights and dishes to order again separately: atkilt, beef alicha, and veggie sambousas.

Hands down, love this place. For a Friday, it was dead. We were concerned. Then we went in. What an experience. The food is finger food picked up with a special bread. The bread was like sour dough pita but different. The food was so fresh. The lamb and beef were so tender and flavorful. The gentleman who served us let us know what the "bread" rolls were for and how to eat it. I loved every bite! We had the beef and lamb tibs and the chicken pastry appetizer. The sauce for the appetizer was like Buffalo sauce. It was similar to a Buffalo chicken egg roll. This place was so clean and the food was so incredible! Definitely coming back!!

Delicious food that's a great value. I ordered the veggie combo takeout and the food was ready quickly and traveled well. It was well seasoned and there was plenty of injera to eat it with. The inside is beautifully decorated and makes me want to return to dine in.

This was my first time eating at Lalibela, and I really enjoyed it. I had never had Ethiopian food before, and our server explained the menu so I'd have an idea what to order. All the food was delicious, and I especially liked eating everything with the injera bread. Definitely check it out, I had a lot of fun learning about the cuisine, and I left full and happy!

Walked in we were greeted by a gentlemen right away who seated us and got us water right away. Showed us what was the most popular items on the menu, and not long after we ordered.. we waited maybe 15 minutes for our food and it was amazing. Top notch. The chicken sambusa's we're to die for. My husband got a #7 and I got a #23 and we were beyond pleased. Must try place of you have never experienced Ethiopian food before.
