Before ordering here, I'd read a review on a guy that was charged 60 bucks for his food, and when he got it the meat was chewy, dry, and the sauce was more like a gravy. I'm usually a skeptic when it comes to reviews, so my family and I decided to go ahead and try it. We called the order in at around 6:00 or 6:15pm, and didn't get our order until around 7:30pm, or 745pm. Since it was dinner rush, we didn't think much of it. Whenever we got the food, I noticed the total was approximately $65.00. When we opened our order, I noticed my dad's food was not in the bag, so I called to let the restaurant know. According to the female I talked to, I was advised his order was never placed on the ticket, so either she was lying or the person taking the order was not paying attention. Either way, I found this to be unacceptable. When everyone opened their food, my mother complained about the taste of the soup. My wife complained of the quality of her pineapple chicken since the sauce did not have any flavor to it, and the chicken was dry. I'd gotten the chef's suggestion shrimp and pork, and noticed the sauce was a gravy. The beef was near impossible to cut, and was very difficult to eat. I will say all of the food was hot. I would not recommend it personally, and will probably never be back to this place, but I encourage others to form their own opinions and not judge based off of my experience.

The place is old, and everything about the experience is antiquated. First, the building has clearly not been redone in a very long time. When you walk in, it has a strong perfume smell, which I think is an attempt to mask any off odors from years of service. The place gives off the vibe of the Chinese restaurant in A Christmas Story where they go to eat Peking duck. The staff was friendly. The food is average. All dishes appear to be wok stir fried and share a common gravy base (veg oil, bullion, soy sauce, msg, sugar). Then it looks like they add a few veggies and meat, and the entree comes with steamed or fried rice. I had a beef and broccoli, and the beef was mostly gristle unfortunately. I also thought the entree portion sizes were on the small side and did not really represent a good value. Again, perhaps this level of cuisine was acceptable 20+ years ago, but I think the food business has changed a lot for the better in the last decade or so. Moreover, for this type of cuisine, I think there are better options in Sioux Falls. Overall, the experience is old-school. Old-school building, decor, and food. I think it's antiquated, and I personally would not go back. It could be a nostalgia trip for someone. These are just my thoughts, impressions, and opinions.

I ordered togo food today, I didn’t check all the food that I ordered, I just felt the bag was heavy. But when I got home, I opened the Szechwan beef. To my surprise there was very little beef, it was mostly sauce and veggies. When I opened the orange chicken and Szechwan shrimp, they both were the same. We ended up pay all sauce, veggies and a little meat. To top it off the beef was tough, the chicken was dry. The potstickers skins were thick and filling was little. I am Chinese and this was the worst Chinese food I have ever had!!! I have to give one star to post this rating.

This place is great! I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The service here is top notch, they are very attentive. The menu is full of traditional Chinese food choices. My family prefers the dinner choices including soup, an appetizer, rice and several entree choices. The restaurant is impeccably clean and full of ornate oriental decor. If you want a more authentic Chinese food experience, check out Szechwan. There is a reason they have been around as long as they have.

We went out our way to try this restaurant. Nothing on the website said take out only. I think this is the only place in the city still under Covid-19 restrictions

This was our first time ordering dinner from here. Their reviews were great, so we gave them a try. While the dining room remains closed from pandemic, I don't mind a little drive to pick up a meal. I arrived & was greeted by a very friendly gentleman, while we chatted about the recent storm,, I was looking around at the most amazing interior design & decor! Just gorgeous! When the dining room reopens, we will def dine in. I made my way home and Our food was dee-lish & hot! I highly recommend this business.

Szechwan has been a staple for my family for almost 30 years. The atmosphere is chill but it feels fancy without being ostentatious. Food is wonderful with dishes varying greatly in flavor profiles. Portions are HUGE. Staff has never failed to be friendly and welcoming. Since the 1990s members of my family have made this place a go-to restaurant for birthdays and celebrations. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

As a new resident to the area, I was looking for a place that serves my favorite food - Chinese and stumbled upon this restaurant. Since that time I have dined here three times and I love this place. The owner and employees are friendly. The dining room is spacious and all areas (I.e. bathroom, lobby and dining areas are always clean. The food is delicious.

Our favorite family Oriental choice. Szechwan has been in Sioux Falls for decades, and the quality is the same now as it was 30 years ago. I don't know of any other restaurant I've been to anywhere that can say that. They have an extensive menu, with several Szechwan specialty dishes that are exceptional. They DO deliver, but they are a family-run business (which means they have limited staff), so if they're really busy in the restaurant, they can't always leave to make deliveries. The owners are wonderful and will essentially try to accommodate any reasonable request.

Delicious take-out. I have never dined in but will definitely plan an outing once their dining room re-opens.

Tried to call to place a takeout order and called a few different times. No answer or voicemail or anything just rang and rang. The website stated they were open but no one answered.

My mother and I loved this restaurant! The staff were very friendly and the service was fast! We were immediately brought our egg-drop soup and by the time we had finished it our main courses were on our table. The prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere was great - it seemed like a classic Chinese restaurant and it took me back to when I was little and my parents took us our for Chinese food. The food was very authentic and delicious! There were also willing to make modifications and cut back some of the "hot" factor on my entree. As a vegetarian I was pleased to see great tofu and meatless options. I would recommend this place to anyone!

I think the Minnesota Ave location is permanently closed? Website says it’s open for take out but phone is dead when I called. I stopped in person and the place looked deserted even though it said open on website. Not sure if permanently closed but if not they need to update website and Google hours.
