If you want to know how big the USS South Dakota was go here and walk the perimeter of the ship without actually being on the ship. Awesome WW2 history at 63 years old I still learn something new.

Amazing and enjoyable park, by far the best facilities of the summer. Umpires still make bad calls but can't blame the park for that.

Well worth the visit to the USS South Dakota memorial. Very nice museum of the history of that battleship. Pictures, first hand items from the ship and sailors that served. No cost to go in but they do accept donations.

An amazing facility for ball! With 9 well manicured fields, this ball park is a great place for tournaments. Each field has 3 covered spectator seating areas with bleacher seating and an electronic scoreboard. Bathrooms, which are centrally located, are clean and easy to access via the sidewalk system throughout the park. A concessions area is available during tournaments near the bathrooms. There are also covered picnic areas throughout the park.

My family enjoys Sherman park - and will enjoy it in many different ways as the years progress! We have played at the park, been to the zoo many times - my daughter is just starting softball, and will soon be enjoying this new facet of the park area. Since we have been making memories here, we decided to make another - through serving with the Sioux Falls Kiwanis, my son and I were part of a team that planted trees Saturday morning. We look forward to seeing them grow, and know we had just a little part in adding more beauty to this local park treasure!

This park has the potential to be a great park again. However, the Parks & Rec department has decided to stop mowing much of the park. Now you can't walk through areas that, for years, were well kept and mowed. I'm for preservation of Prairie grass, but city parks are not the place for it.

Awesome ball fields the maintenence boys worked well getting things ready, concessions were better than most, kids had a great time. The restrooms were clean and there were thousands of people at the softball tournament The footprint of the USS South Dakota is impressive. Next time we go to the zoo and the falls. Couldn't get there this time. Great town Sioux Falls !!

Wonderful park. A lot of traffic and not easily accessible for wheelchairs

  • 5/5 Michael R. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful park with lots of history told on historical signs. So cool that there was a giant wooden slide built by Sherman himself that went from the top of the park to the bottom 300ft or more about 100 years ago. .

Google Maps directs you to turn on Sherman Park Rd, but there is no entrance to the park there. Turn South on Kiwanis instead and take your first right to enter the park for Softball.

I enjoyed learning about USS S Dakota the personal items in the museum made it interesting I thought at first it would be lame but it was very interesting worth your time if visiting and have an hour to spare

This is a beautiful facility! Love being able to use it! Only 2 concerns with it, there are not nearly enough bathrooms when the facility is used (waited over 20 minutes to use the restroom multiple times) and 2, the bases on the field do not detach, so we had a season ending injury as a result of sliding the bases not giving. This occurred for at least 3 other teams as well!

Very cool area. We went for a softball tournament and found a battleship museum unfortunately it was closed for the season but we were still able to walk around and look at all the things outside the museum. My son thought it was awesome. We will make a return visit when the museum is open again next summer.

The Sherman park location is a large area consisting of the Great plains zoo ,Battleship memorial, and numerous ball fields. There's a Park by the zoo for picnics with a jungle gym area for kids. Restroom area by the park.

Great park for softball! Year in year out! The canopies for shade over the bleachers is great. All parks should do the same. Shade and protection from foul balls. Thanks Sherman Park!!

One of the nicer softball complexes we have been to. With each cluster of fields having individual concession/restrooms made the it even better.... especially with the covid thing atm.

Stopped here during a cross-country drive to allow my pup some time to stretch his legs and let loose. Extremely clean with plenty of parking and big enough fields to not have to worry about my dog venturing too far from me.
