জায়গাটি নিয়ে সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় জনশ্রুতি হলো, প্রাচীনকালে এখানে দেব-দেবীর উদ্দেশ্যে নর বলি দেয়া হতো। এভাবে চলতে চলতে একদিন এখানে আগুন ধরে যায়। অনেক চেষ্টার পরও এই আগুন নেভানো যায়নি। যুগ যুগ ধরে এটি যেন মৃত আগ্নেয়গিরির মুখ; যার ভেতর থেকে সর্বদা আগুন বের হচ্ছে। হিন্দু ধর্মাবলম্বীদের মতানুযায়ী, এটা ধর্মীয় আশীর্বাদ। এখানে শত শত বছরের পুরনো বেশ কিছু মন্দির আছে। বিশেষ করে যেখানে আগুন জ্বলছে সেখানেই দু’টি শিব মূর্তিকালভৈরবী মন্দির। এগুলো দেখাশোনা করেন এক পূরহিত। তার মতে, শিব ও পার্বতী স্বামী-স্ত্রী ছিলেন। পার্বতীর বাবা একদিন শিবকে অপমান করেন। পার্বতী তা সহ্য করতে না পেরে দেহত্যাগ করেন। শিব খবরটি পেয়ে রাগে পার্বতীকে নিয়ে তাণ্ডব নৃত্য শুরু করেন। এ কারণে তখন পৃথিবী ধ্বংস হয়ে যাচ্ছিল। শিবকে শান্ত করার জন্য ও পৃথিবীর ধ্বংস ঠেকাতে বিষ্ণু তার চক্র দিয়ে পার্বতীর শরীরকে ৫১ ভাগ করেন। ওই টুকরোগুলোর একটি ভাগ পড়েছে বাড়বকুণ্ডের এই জায়গায়। তবে বিজ্ঞান বলছে অন্য কথা! যতদূর জানা গেছে, ব্রিটিশ আমলে এই পাহাড়ে মিথেন গ্যাসের সন্ধ্যান পাওয়া গিয়েছিল। কোনো এক কারণে সেসময় গ্যাস কূপের মুখ বন্ধ করে দেয়া হয় সীসা দিয়ে। তারপর থেকে এখানকার পানিতে আগুন জ্বলে। তথ্যসূত্র - আনিকা আশরাফ - Quora

This is an amazing spot for traveling. An important place for hindu religious people. There are a temple, where hindus visit a lot. There's a waterfall also in this spot. Couldn’t find enough water in mid summer, Local people suggest to come in rainy season to see this waterfall. There's a mysterious thing beside the temple, Beside a well there is a stove which is always burning without any fuel, attached a photo of it with this review. As it is a hill area, must carry water with you and avoid solo travelling.

This is Holy Place for Hindus amidst Sitakunda Hill Range with very age old temple of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Lord Kal Vairava. There is a mysterious holy fireplace which has high flame and burn on the water Surface. Even the specialist Researched for the gas field, they Heav'nt found any gas there. The flame is neverending and burns throughout the year. If Anyone needs to pay a visit to the place he has to go to the Barabkunda Bazar and then go on foot by walking 10 mins raw road.
