After seeing the dozens of posts and comments on our local social media forum about Candy Man's burgers and being a true burger fanatic, I jumped in head first when I finally had the opportunity to go check it out for lunch. Me and my buddy were the 2nd customers there just a few minutes after 11am. The first customers were just about done with their meal and were asking for to-go boxes. I ordered the Smash Burger (not to be confused with a typical smash burger where the meat patty is smashed down thin on the griddle and smothered in a slice of American cheese.) He can correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe Mr. Leroy named this burger "Smash Burger" because you bout to SMASH this burger. It's that good. 4 slices of 4 different cheeses meet together on top the burger patty and then lay partially off the side to form a quadrant of crispy, charred, slightly salty and creamy goodness all in one. It pairs perfectly with the little mini-Solo cup of delicious (I assume house made) burger sauce he gives you. Fresh fluffy and toasted bun, perfectly cooked meat patty cooked the way you want it. Add the lettuce and tomato if you want but I went just meat, cheese and sauce. I folded the crispy edges of charred cheese to the top of the patty so I could create the ultimate bite of everything at once. It gives you all the textures a true burger lover desires in a good burger. Definitely the most unique burger around here that actually makes sense, is easy to eat and doesn't make you feel like you have to repent afterwards. It's now my favorite burger in town. I'm not a fan of homemade fries but these were great. Not soggy like most homemade fries, they had a little crisp. I can't leave out how delicious their homemade brownies are. So good the extra mile on the treadmill is worth it. As a burger lover, I highly recommend the Smash Burger from Candy Man's.

I've been wanting to try this, and it didn't disappoint! The waitress was nice and helpful. The person who trained us to throw the axes was knowledgeable and friendly and went out of his way to help. I didn't eat anything, but those in my party who did said the food was good! We made some great memories! Thanks!

Candy Man at Outerbanks Ave House have one of the best burgers and fresh cut fries around. The kids liked the chicken tenders. I've had the burger and fries every time!

Stopped by for a quick lunch break and tried their chicken burger while visiting here. It was amazing!! 10/10 Fair priced and affordable. The staff and Mr. Candyman are all helpful, and super friendly. Overall I’d highly recommend this place to anyone. Definitely will have to come back to try their pralines and the axe throwing another day.

Smash burger was outstanding! Great family atmosphere! No loud background music. Its a dad with his kids helping. I must say fantastic service, little to no wait time. The pralines are fantastic. The smash burger was scrumptious. Very inexpensive and very filling. Worth the drive

What a gem. The smash burger with the crispy cheese is original, the chicken tenders are 100% chicken sliced and breaded in house, and the steak was a surprising delight. You never know where you will find a good steak and this is one of those places. Simply plated, flavorful, and huge, served with the best fries likened to boardwalk fries. We were so full, but had to take some clever pralines for the ride home and that was a good decision. But the best part was the friendliness of the owner and family. He made us feel like a local friend and visiting v.i.p. at the same time. The Candyman is worth a visit and remember his name because he will bring good things in the future. He has a vision.
