Best hostel you will ever visit and I've been to a fair share. Jack is the most wonderful host, incredibly lovely human and Wally is the cutest little doggo. Great Breakfast, beer in the fridge always, try to stay on a Friday or Sunday for group pizza outing which is always a great time! Cannot speak highly enough of this place and the people

Best hostel I've ever stayed in. It really becomes more than a hostel but a real home the moment you walk inside. Wally the Dog really is the soul of the place and Dan, the manager is incredible. The rest of the staff is awesome of course. Can't wait to go back one day!

Easily the best hostel you will ever stay at. What you will get here is a extremely relaxing experience with the most friendly people you will ever meet. The staff are amazing, they walk that fine line of being both professional yet also being you're best friend. It seems the only people who visit this hostel are lovely too. Zdiar is so small as well that you cannot help but make friends. Genuinely the only hostel I've ever recommended, honestly worth going out of your way just to stay here. Already planning a return trip.

No surprises why this hostel has won so many awards. The hostel felt like I was staying at a good friend’s house the entire time. It was very homely and had a large porch and lounge room which encouraged everyone (mostly solo travellers) to hang out together - which they typically did. Lots of helpful information regarding hikes in the area was put together in a folder, and the staff were always happy to answer questions. Staff were friendly, people were great and atmosphere was relaxing whilst still being sociable - a very difficult balance to achieve. Plenty of free food on offer as well - got lucky with a homemade banana bread while I was there. And of course, the best part about the hostel is the incredibly friendly dog, Wally! Can highly recommend this hostel to solo travellers looking to do some hikes through the Tatras and/or those looking to get a wholesome few days away from the city.

A all-round amazing hostel. It's no wonder that they have won Slovakia's best hostel 4 years in a row. Very good location in the High Tatras, and a amazing friendly atmosphere. The staff are good fun and have great knowledge of the local area. Fully recommend! I'll be back.

What a gorgeous , cozy and charming hostel in a sleepy little disney-esque Slovak village with so many hikes of all kinds of difficulties around. The breakfast was great ,wally the dog is the star of the hostel and these kind of places always attract the best people. Will love to stay there in the winter next time !

This hostel is fully deserving of its perfect rating. I found myself staying much longer than I had originally planned thanks to the Ginger Monkey's welcoming staff, great company in the form of other visitors, incredible views, and of course Wally's magnetic personality (and fur). Not only is this one of the cleanest hostel's I've every stayed at, but it is without a doubt the best. If you find yourself in the region, it is well worth a visit, you will not regret it. Also: hi Victoria :) I hope y'all are still having a great time in Zdiar!
