I knew about Šumik, but up until now I never visited it. I cannot believe something so beautiful was so near where I live. The surrounding forest is ancient and a protected natural habitat and is absolutely beautiful, serene and full of fresh air. The path to the Šumik waterfalls (big one and small one) is not for the faint of heart, especially in winter, because the path goes from a medium level forest path to full on climbing down rock faces, so please be prepared if you decide to go. It's well worth it, the pictures speak for themselves, just be careful.

It's a nice short, but difficult hike. The big waterfall is beautiful. There is the possibility to hike further to another waterfall but the bridge was broken.. (see picture) No way to cross the river. So once you've seen the Veliki Sumik, i'd advise you to return because going further is not worth the effort. Further, it was amazing! Dipped our toes in the river regularly. We went in the summer, me, my girlfriend and our dog. (A pug). You can carry a small dog over the difficult parts.

Šumik is a well maintained marked trail leading up to the beautiful waterfall (Veliki Šumik). You need a bit of hiking experience and be physically at least a little prepared to access it due to some parts with a steeper descent (and then climb back up). You NEED the proper hiking footwear. Otherwise, I can only describe it as a fairy tale.

Meditative path, must see. It’s better if you are going from Smolnik (House - Klub prijateljev narave). Trail is very well marked.

One of the many gems of Pohorje region. A must-see destination. Recommend it to all hikers.

It was a nice spot with on some parts a bit difficult hike. Down to the end of the waterfall seems a bit dangerous with no clear route. The view and area was amazing.

Extremely nice path with via Ferrata parts leads to the waterfall. Strongly suggested for everybody except olds and small kids.

It is also beautiful in the winter but it took us 4+ hours of snow wading back and forth from Osankarinca (road is not maintained from that point). The cliffs could be even more dangerous as you can't see what's under the snow. I would not recommend for anyone to repeat what we did.

A beautiful waterfall in the midst of Šumik primeval forest. A nice 1h hike from the top of Pohorje.

Stunning! Absolutely stunning. You need a 30min hike through rocks etc. But the view is amazing!

The waterfall is rather small, probably better looking in a rainy period. The trail is well marked from the main road on and rather difficult for small children nearby the waterfall itself. Ages 8 and more should have no problems, if well equipped and accompained by adults. Note there are points with steel ropes to help pass through. To avoid in rainy weather. Otherwise a nice trip from Dom na Osankarici, took 1:30.

Really a pleasant picnic place, good for dogs as there is running water and plenty of shade. Always grab a blanket, perhaps a natural one-use grill, some food and water, and enjoy your day in the nature.
