Discovered this perfect swimming and sunbathing spot on my first day and went back for 3 days in a row. The staff is friendly and the price for a sun bed is great value. Apparently it is also a good snorkelling place. I am surprised to read the complaints about a minimum spend/deposit for sunbeds. I am pretty sure that the people complaining wouldn't have any problems to pay extra for a premium spot/restaurant/view back home but since we are in the developing country, they expect that everything is a given or almost free . This is a business on an island that is recovering from some very tough years, if you can'f afford to pay 5 pounds or so to use a sun bed and have some drinks, just go to the free beach or don't go on holidays that you can't afford.

Live in Bali and visit the Gili islands very frequently. I’ve stayed at many different places, in different price ranges in Gili. Took my mom and boyfriend here. Decided to treat ourselves and pay for the expensive prices, despite all of the bad reviews because the photos online looked nice. Unfortunately this property is incredibly outdated and overpriced. The photos look nothing like it does in real life. But most importantly, half way into our stay, they decided to tell us there was an additional charge of 500k ($35 per day) because we had 3 people. This was never mentioned at check in or prior to check in. We asked for an extra blanket and the manager was extremely rude about having to get it for us. The next morning the “extra charge” was requested. We asked why this is the first time we have heard of this extra charge, and they said it was just a miscommunication and they forgot to tell us at check in. But of course demanded the money. I’d understand if this were a nice resort or facilities were updated. But it’s quite obvious that they are charging so high in order to make repairs to the rundown property with so many dysfunctional rooms. Greedy owners living in a delusion scamming people into paying extremely high prices for what this resort maybe was a handful of years ago. We are contemplating leaving our trip early and just losing the money because we are worried about the other new charges they will come up with, during the rest of our stay. Furniture is extremely old, rooms are really run down, location is far from everything, the shower has zero pressure, the bathroom has a weird odor. Again, this is something I’d usually just let go, as I’ve lived in Indo for years and understand this standard. But to charge 4 mil per night is absolutely mind blowing. Especially when this cost was not what was advertised when booking. DO NOT STAY HERE! Save yourself the headache and the money. Incredibly disappointed. There are so many places in the Gilis twice as nice for a third of the price.

We had a delightful dining experience at the restaurant grill within the hotel, even though we were not staying there. The pork ribs we ordered were tender and flavorful, while the Nasi Goreng was simply fantastic, with its rich blend of spices. What added to the charm was the salad bar, offering a variety of fresh ingredients. The restaurant's location, right in front of the sea, provided a breathtaking backdrop to our meal, making it a memorable evening filled with great food and an even better view.

Tourist trap if you don’t stay at the hotel. If you sit at the sun beds they charge 100k per person as minimum consumption. All over the islands sun beds are free. With tax mixed juice costs 60k and big water 45k (usual price 10k). Avoid if possible and go to the cafes next door.

As it was my first time on Gili Air and in The Sunrise Resort and I have seen many pictures, I've expected a lot. The reality got me off hook...The guy from the reception was really nice during our stay and I could easily get my laundry done. The breakfast buffet was in contrast filthy and didn't offer a lot. The food in The Sunrise Resort was in general not especially good and more expensive in comparison to the other places in the same area. The pool water looked in the evening with the light floating through it dirty, and as it hasn't been cleaned for days. The room was nicely decorated and there was a climate, which is a huge plus in this area. However, the bathroom was alright. Not totally clean, but as you would expect it for this area. But now to the staff, which seemed just to be hanging around (after three guests asked them to fill up the water, they still didn't do it...). And they were making fun of the guests. This was really unsympathetic and is a huge minus! All together I wouldn't recommend The Sunrise Resort, as the food isn't so good and specially as the staff is impolite.

Tourist trap and over rated review for someone who were saying its even good. Staff barely speak english, and the cleanliness is the worst i have seen even for Gili's standard. The restaurant staff just casually smokes their cigarettes and serving food directly, i found it really un-hygienic honestlty.

Stunning location on the sunrise side of Gili Air! The food was fresh and delicious, the beers were icy cold and the staff were attentive and super friendly. I had the seafood platter and my partner had the garlic prawns (which were gigantic!) The lighting on the beach gave a warm, romantic vibe. When we head back to Gili Air again, this will be our first stop.

This lovely beach resort exceeded my expectations. It should definitely have more than 3 stars. The whole hotel is super chic, fashionable but still traditionally designed which gives you a cozy feeling and you immediately feel comfortable. The whole facility and the room were on top of cleanliness. What I also truly loved here, was the outstanding staff, always so helpful and smiling. Another two big plus points was our room/cottage. Every guest has its own little house and what I was so thrilled about was the fact that we had like a gate infront of our balcony, so it was privacy to the max! Location is perfect as well too, since its an easy walk to the ferry port. The resorts owns beautiful stretch of beach which has nice snorkeling spots as well.

The worst business in the whole Indonesia. Me and my girlfriend we have been traveling a month around Indonesia and never met any place so so so bad. We arrived in the beach and we ask to sit in the sun-beds and they informed us that there is a minimum spend of 50.000 idr per person (the only place we saw that in whole country) and they ask for the money in advance, before even sit in the sun-beds . Of course the amount was not a problem and we agreed with that, but when it was time to order, we asked from them 3 different product and they didn’t have NOTHING! Νο beers, no coconuts, no tea…They had already took our money (100.000 idr) so we forced to order something and we took two coffees. If you have traveled in Indonesia you will already know that they have amazing blends of coffee and you can find a very satisfying coffee even in the street canteens. In this place they was the worst coffees ever. Moreover, as soon as they brought our coffees…they also brought a new bill with those coffees!! They fixed the new bill with the 3rd time we said that they are paid from the deposit already. Anyway, many things to say more but as a conclusion, NEVER AGAIN! WORST PLACE IN WHOLE INDONESIA!

I didn't stay here but only come for the beautiful affordable breakfast buffet. The resort is located in the eastern part of the Island. So don't forget to fill your tummy with buffet breakfast after watching the majestic sunrise from Mount Rinjani. It only costs you 100k Rupiah for all you can eat buffet. Croissant, pancake, eggs, yummy bacon (it's really delicious), fried rice, noodles, fruit salad, cereal, etc

Sadly the post-covid Gili Air restaurants are over-priced. Defintely exploiting tourism to make up lost revenue. If the food was any good I would not mind., but we waited over an hour for a terrible salad and a very watery gazpacho

The staff here are amazing, friendly, helpful and very knowledgable. We didn't actually stay here but we went for dinner, fantastic seafood and a decent bottle of wine. They have great coffee, and deserts. When we come back to Gili Air this is the place for us. The location is perfect, great snorkelling spot too.

The room was comfortable, clean, and I loved the upstairs loft area. The property was beautiful, nice pool, comfortable dining area, delicious drinks, and great beach area for snorkeling. Loved our stay here.

Go away from that restaurant. Maybe 60 min before getting our starters (guacamole and olive tapenade)....and they put only three slice of small baguette or pita...so you have to order extra bread....and the starter costs like a main dish. Of course they dont tell you it's an extra. We order sashimi without wasabi ...so you will have on it. Be sure that they dont care about you, just about your money.

Great place for beach bed and chill during the day! Staff is awesome and food was very good. The prices are a bit on the high side for juices etc

Nice spot to spend a day. Sunbeds are available a lot. Beware that you'll have to have a minimum consumption of 100k (6ish EUR) there. We didn't mind. The spot is awesome, the food was delicious. All in all a great experience. Minus one star because their prices are not at face value, but they add tax later and force you to pay a service fee.

Stopped by one day for a bit of lunch. Delicious sandwich with all the trimmings and was reasonably priced, couldn't complain. Stopped by again the next day and our order was forgotten, then was lied to about it being forgotten and then when it came it was quite overpriced, extremely small portion size, and was generally disappointing for what it was.

Super recommended! Very kind and friendly staff, beautiful rooms, nice breakfast, strategic position in a good side of the island - not to close from the messy port but not to far from it and other restaurants. Recommended for families

This place really surprised me in the most positive way. Super friendly and helpful staff, the rooms are incredible, clean and big. The bed is perfect and the pool is beautiful. It's really close to the beach. You even get a nice cold mini towel and welcome drink while checking in. I would definitely stay here again!

Not recommended. Staff is not friendly and very slow. Food and juices not fresh. Beach is also dirty.

We were told this was overpriced and they were correct. It’s a beautiful restaurant with lovely desserts, but it was quite a lot more expensive for food/drinks without being better quality.

Just went to the Bar. It is totally overpriced! The prices are about twice as high as on the rest of the island. I’d rather go to some beach club in the north - better prices and way better for swimming & less windy!

Web don't stay at Sunrise Resort in Gili Air, but after the first afternoon spent in Gili Air we understood that was a mistake. The Resort offer the best spot to do snorkeling in the whole Island and the restaurant Is certainly the Top! This Is the only One where the kitcken prepare delicious food at International standard! Congratulations to the Chef and all staff for the care provided to us!

We planned to stay at the Sunrise Resort in Gili Air for seven days but checked out early after three days because the whole experience was very underwhelming. We were looking for one week of relaxation, a beach, good food and friendly people and what we experienced was quite the opposite. The hotel premises are decent, though a bit coming into age but otherwise in a nice location. Unfortunately, we experienced bad service at the hotel, with most of the staff having a can’t-be-bothered” attitude towards the guests. This was especially visible at the restaurant. Although there were not many guests, the service staff still managed to forget our orders on several occasions and repeatedly had to come back to re-check the orders. During one breakfast, we received our coffees 30 minutes after we finished our breakfast. Often we were told several minutes after ordering that the ordered item was actually not available, this repeatedly in just three days. Wanting to rent the Kayak during one of the mornings, we were told they would have to check with the Manager for the price. Three hours later, we checked again but in vain and eventually never heard back from the staff, although he assured us that he would find us and let us know. Last but not least, when we checked out several days before our expected departure, the front desk clerk didn’t see fit to inquire why we are departing early or even inquire if we liked our stay, which in our opinion was the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of customer service. In terms of hygiene at the hotel, we felt like the room towels, and beach towels smelled funky, and at the restaurant, we encountered dirty cutlery and several cats roaming around our feet all the time when we were eating, begging for food. We were expecting a lovely beach where we could spend the days relaxing, swimming and snorkelling. Unfortunately, the beach was an absolute mess in terms of plastic and garbage floating to the shore. Global sea pollution is obviously nothing the hotel can control but seeing 3-5 staff members at all times standing redundantly around instead of trying to tidy up a crucial part of their facility does not make sense, in our opinion. We only saw once during our stay one of the staff members clean up some of the waste. Considering the relatively high price tag for ok-isch facilities and the poor service, we would not recommend coming to this hotel.

So glad we stayed here! The staff here were so friendly and attentive. The view of the beach was fabulous and the snorkelling right outside the hotel rivalled the trips you pay to go on. The bbq grill was delicious and the salad bar was a fantastic touch. We are in awe of how they have bounced back after being closed for 2 years. Great stay!

Our stay here was fantastic! It was extremely relaxing, one of the best access to beach’s for snorkelling and extremely friendly staff. All of the staff were amazing, and especially Bali who always greeted us with a great smile which made our day. The room was very nice and had everything we needed.

We had such a lovely time staying at this gorgeous resort. The beach views are stunning, the freshly cooked seafood was amazing and the staff are so lovely and friendly. 5 stars from us! Thank you!

Great beachfront resort in Gili air. The staff is incredibly friendly. The pool is amazing, it's more like a spa pool than a resort pool. The food is delicious and the room was very cozy and clean. Also, they're just 10 min away on foot from the port. If you're going to Gili Air, don't even think about it, Sunrise Resort is the place to stay!

For restaurant only:Waited an 1.5 hr for a sandwich. This is at lunch, with only one other table present. The other table sat after us about 40 min and finished their food before we even got served. Can't recommend. There are better places nearby with better service. Maybe a drink you would get quicker.

We were looking to book 4 rooms and wrote to the hotel directly. They're saying that their website has the wrong prices and are trying to charge us $250/nt PER ROOM (they're $90 everywhere else). No thanks. We found somewhere else. Imagine showing up there during high season and them telling you the price is wrong and trying to get a lot more money!! Doesn't sound legit.
