Free tourist attraction. Easy to access, just enter the water at the huge white sign and it's about 50 meters from shore. I would recommend going on your own early in the morning if your are a confident enough swimmer. I went in at about 6:30 or 7:00 am and was able to have the whole area to myself and even saw a few turtles. It was great.

Super overrated. The initial purpose to re grow corals here not only failed it even contributed to an insane mass tourism of mainly day trippers, who come from surrounding islands and destroy the remaining corals here. They attract fish by feeding them, touch, hold onto and even step on the statues. It's always crowded by those day tourists, tourists turning into wildlings, kicking you to get the best shot. Meno is not benefiting from those statues, as those dy tourists just come, see, destroy and disappear. Only a little amount of people really stay on the island and provide some income to the locals on Meno.

Nice enough place. We went right at sunrise at 6am and by the time we were out there and done at 6:30, 3 boats and about 15 people were there already. Water isn’t as clear as other places. Saw a couple turtles, which was nice.

I was very happy that we can enjoyed few hours snorkeling at this place. We took private boat to avoid tourists crowds. The guide was very helpful, he took photos and video of us. Continue to take some foods at Gili meno.

Really fun experience, although there were many tourist here including myself we had a private boat take us here and it made the photograph easier to get. Most snorkeling tourists couldn’t dive down to get the photo but if you are an experienced swimmer you can easily get the picture with the assistance of a local guide. Booked this trip with pink coco!

From 7:30-8 am a lot of boats with tourists from Gili T or Gili Air come there. And it is very busy all the time usually until 5 pm. Sometimes with 150-200 people over the Nest. If you want to take some pics without any other or less people come to Gili Meno for some nights and go there after sunrise or before sunset. This is for free btw. Directly from the entree the Bask Hotel. With fins you will reach the statues after 2 mins swimming. And you will see a lot of turtles on this side of the island.

Nice spot to visit within a tour. Booked through booking activites that also took us to Heaven’s Gate. If you bring a drone, there is an extra charge (200.000 IDR) to be able to use it.

Very busy place with lots of tourists. But when you are in Gili you have to see once. Just be prepared for lots of annoying curious tourists who can't swim in life jackets.

Nest are 48 circular figures that represent the circle of life and a reminder of how we are all connected in one way or another.

Totally overrated and overcrowded. You need to come before 8 o'clock if you want to have the place for your own. We went at 9 o'clock and there were constantly a minimum of 30 people around the statue. And a lot of boats. You can easily reach the statue from shore by a short swim. You don't need a boat tour if you stay on Gili Meno.

Too busy with many tourists trying to wanna be influencers who cannot read the strong currents in the area. Better snorkeling other areas looking for turtles

(Translated by Google) You do not need to pay anything, nor private boat. You come by public boat, rent tube masks and fins, and 50 meters from the shore you have the sculptures. (Original) No necesitas pagar nada, ni barco privado. Vienes en barco publico, alquilas mascaras tubo y aletas, y a 50 metros de la orilla tienes las esculturas.

The Bask Nest is an art installation by Jason deCaires Taylor. It's a must see during your stay in the gili islands. The nest was constructed in 2017 and draws in many visitors from around the world. To really experience the nest without bumping into helplessly floating life vest wearing tourists, I strongly recommend to come here before 8am or after 5pm. The best way to reach the statues from Gili T is either with a private boat or a kayak. From Gili Meno you can swim out to the statues, they are just 40m from the beach. Otherwise all shared snorkelling trips that do the 3 island tour stop here.

The statues underwater had been on my bucket list since long time ago. So glad was able to witness this with my own eyes. Island hopping package is available from gili trawangan by local/fisher man. The price was varied and usually already include gears like snorkle and life jacket. This spot usually crowded, hard to take picture without someone’s feet or hands 🤣

This place is amazing! We were lucky enough to visit whilst the islands are super quiet due to travel restrictions (it has its pros and cons) We had the place to ourselves. The sea is warm, the water clear, so many different types of tropical fish surround you and we saw about 15 sea turtles in the space of just a couple of hours. The sculpture itself is easily accessible from a boat or probably from the shore with a snorkel and some fins. Take a go pro or rent one if you don’t have one. We got our guide to get hold of one for us. We paid around £15 for the rental and got to keep the memory card that we used.

Statues, under water. That's it. Not much of sea life here, but many snorklers fishing for cool instagram photos.. There are much better places for snorkling on the reef with turtles, corals, plenty of fish and an occational small shark..

Really cool, there are loads of turtles in the area but the current is very strong. We swam out ourselves from Gili Meno. It's an easy swim for experienced swimmers. I reckon most people could do it with a snorkel and fins. We went just before sunset and had the whole place to ourselves. The current typically travels from North to South so try to approach the Nest from the North instead if swimming against the current. Although we went from the beach that is beside the resort. The boat tours all go at the same time and there are sooo many people. Also some of the tour guides feed the fish with bread too which isn't good and many people touch the statues. Better to avoid the boat tours and go to Gili Meno, the best Gili, and see it for yourself. Look but don't touch!

The statues itself are pretty cool to see. Altogether we did not see alot because there where 40 other tourists in the water too, some peole could not even swim and thats why there where wearing a swimming vest and hold onto a floating device. It looked very funny...

Amazing sight to see. Difficult to stay at sight as current drags you down the coast. Plenty of fish and corals. Worth a visit

Very cool diving spot. Def recommend going as early as possible to avoid crowds! A must see in the gili islands!

  • 4/5 Valerie del R. 10 months ago on Google
Beautiful. Went there at around 5pm and there were around 20 people nearby all trying to get a photo. Comments have already said it all. Try to come super early or after 5 to (try and) beat the crowd.

It is nice to see, but there are too many people in one place. People will push you, and if you are not a good swimmer, lifewest is in your handy.

  • 2/5 Chris A. 1 year ago on Google
Ruined by the masses of snorkel tour boats that turn up en-masse including people who are clueless of how to swim and shouldn’t be in the water in the first place. All they do is fin constantly above the statues murking up the water and ruining the visibility. Almost witnessed someone drowning as he was in the water without a life jacket and started thrashing about in panic. Some of the tour boat operators are irresponsible too starting their engines with propellers within 2-3m of peoples head snorkelling, recipe for disaster. Try to time it when there are no boats there, around lunchtime or first thing in the morning or late afternoon, unfortunately I just missed the quiet period.

Nice to see but we went at 5pm to try and wait for all the boats to go but the water wasn’t clear at all. Otherwise it’s super busy, with people staying like 45 min around it to try and get the perfect photo… a bit ridiculous. So was nice to see but not crazy. Would recommend to go very early like 6.30am but we weren’t very bothered to be honest!

  • 3/5 Ilenia V. 1 year ago on Google
Surely beautiful but so full of tourists. When we arrived, visibility was so low we had to leave and come back at a later time. When back, we counted at least 60 people trying to swim in the maze. I’d recommend a private tour when you get there at less popular hours.

(Translated by Google) The whole trip looking forward to this special place, and when I arrived it seemed even more wonderful than I had imagined. It is something special, unique, that you cannot miss. The truth is that it is one of the busiest points of the Gili Islands, but it is completely understandable. Try to approach early in the morning, or you will have to dodge arms and legs all the time. But, importantly, take a breath, fill your lungs well, and push yourself to the bottom of this work of art that awaits you on the seabed. Write it down on your list of things to do, you will not regret it.

Kind of nice for a moment, but really crowded. If you are putting together a private snorkeling tour consider skipping the statues. Or if you are snorkeling on your own, just go around them. Snorkeling is fantastic all around Gili Meno, so you don't necessarily have to come here and be kicked in the face by someone with a GoPro.

Love the idea that the statues were put there for the corals to grow all over.. Gets quite busy with snorkel boats and the water isnt so clear at low tide, best at hightide very early moen or later on in afternoon

  • 4/5 Maylani T. 3 years ago on Google
(Translated by Google) the water is a bit cloudy. I think because there are so many people or maybe because many people feed them fish. I don't like it a bit because it turns out that the statue is big. close to my body so it's not too far to touch. not too deep to dive. statue because he is not as small as the photos on the internet. (Original) agak keruh airnya. kayaknya karena lagi banyak orang atau mungkin karena banyak yang kasih makan ikan. agak kurang sukanya karena ternyata patungnya besar. deket sama badan saya. jadi gak terlalu jauh buat disentuh. gak terlalu dalem nyelamnya. patung karena besar dia gak sekecil foto-foto di internet.

  • 3/5 M Q. 1 year ago on Google
Nice, but very touristy. We first visited on a trip and couldn't get close to the statues without banging heads with other snorkelers. We then tried again ourselves at a separate time and it was just too busy. I mean really busy. When you swim, people are kicking you with their flippers and if you take a photo you'll have another 7 people on it with you. I'd only advise visiting this if you go early in the morning before everybody else gets there.

  • 5/5 Thomas H. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely stunning! Helping to grow coral in the area. Unfortunately so many snorkeling tours go at the same time so it will be incredibly packed.
