Place opens up at 9 am and is open till 5 pm. Though most of the fort is still intact but this glorious piece of history is ill maintained. As per the security funds dried up for the upkeep of the fort. If the fort can regain its lost glory and a sound and light show be added to the venue would attract crowd and revenue both. Also the fort should have someone like a guide to explain history of the fort generating interest. Solapur has a rich of story telling sadly no one's interested nice place

Solapur bhuikot killa was build by Bahamani dynasty in the 14th century. Entry fees - 20Rs. Per person Time - 9am - 5pm It takes around 1 hour maximum to explore the whole fort premises. The fort has double fortification and has typical bahamani era construction style. It has two gates, North gate and Mahakali gate, a Shani temple, a ruined Shiva temple, Mahakaleshwar  temple and a mosque with carved ceiling and several pillars inside it. There is also a well, which is in octagonal in shape and a small pond inside it. Fortification wall and bastion are still in very good condition.

As on 24/9/2021 fort remains closed since lockdown. It was a total waste taking an extra day in my tour just for this fort. Absolutely irresponsible of the ASI department to close a public place without any information or notice for such a prolonged time. DO NOT VISIT AND WASTE YOUR TIME!!

Fort is good to see.. But it is need to maintain for tourist. we were not able to explore complete fort as there was heavy grass. No direction was mentioned for watching fort. Guide is not available. So detailed information should be available..

Managed by ASI, the fort definitely has seen better days and could use better upkeep. Inside the fort, there is lot of park area, couple of fountains but has not been maintained properly with grass having overgrown throughout the place. But for fort lovers, you can stroll around the place and visit 2 -3 structures that are still standing. You can spend about 1 - 1.5 hours max at this place, not more. The walls of the fort still stand majestically overlooking the city and the view of the lake and siddeshwar temple from the ramparts are worth a view. Was told at the ticket counter that use of DSLR inside the fort is prohibited at the time of this writing in Sep'22 but point and shoot cameras or mobile phones are allowed. It may change in future but not as of now. There are amenities inside the fort but since the fort is in the heart of the city you have access to food/water as soon as you exit the fort. The walk along the paved path near the fort called ganpath ghat is also something you may want to try if you are visiting the fort.

A beautiful and peaceful fort. The fort has a lovely pink flower tree which blossoms during summer and many neem trees. The area of the fort is larger so to explore it completely you need at least an hour. You get the nice view of the lake from top of Them he fort walls. Entry ticket is 20rs which you have to pay online and they don't accept cash. The fort closes at 5.30pm.

I have visited this place on 6th Jan.21.It is under the control of Archiological survey of India. Garden is good. The history of fort is written at the entrance of the fort. But it is to be maintained as some of the parts stones have been fallen down. Entry ticket is of Rs.25 per person. Best place to visit when you are in Solapur

If you love history and like to know about some part of history this fort is Must visit when you on tour to Solapur! Entry ticket is 25 per person and free for kids below 12yrs V quite place in middle of hustle bustle of city..... 2 peaceful temples are located inside fort here .......Shiva n Devi mandirs are active and staff here do daily prayers and pooja. The most fascinating thing is shiva's temple is below ground level and not visible easily as may be this beacause to save Hindu god from moghul' attack. Need some attention by #Maharashtra' s #touristminister and #MTDC This can be place for evening beautiful light show as huge flat ground available Sad part is young couples in Solapur are using this public place as their romance spot which makes tourist awkward specially when you are with elders n kids (it as expected as the fort is not maintained properly)

  • 4/5 anandhu s r. 2 years ago on Google
The fort and its surrounding area is having potential for being a good tourist spot. We will get that medivel rustic construction feel and the place also incorporates a "notsobad" garden. Nice but undeveloped/ not taken care of place.

No doubt this fort has seen days of grandeur but now it's in a sad state of neglect. Administration should put effort in it's upkeep. It covers very large area. With proper management it can be turned into a very good tourist spot. It felt bad seeing empty water bottles, plastic waste lying everywhere. Talk grass growing in many places, making it difficult to explore. Hope this place get a make over.

This fort is not only an ancient Muslim fort located in Solapur. one can find a ruined Shiva temple with underground Shiva Linga and a Mahakaleshwar temple and a mosque with carved ceiling and several pillars inside it. The Bajirao Peshwa, Chhatrapati Pratap Singh Bhosale of Satara, stayed here for a month in 1818. while Bijapur was ruled by Ismail Adilshah. Adilshah's daughter Burhan was given to Nizamshah and the marriage ceremony was celebrated with great pomp. The marriage took place at Solapur fort.At that time, that is. In 1523, the fort was in the possession of Bijapur. In 1552, it was given to Chandbibi Ali Adilshah, the second princess of Ahmednagar.During Aurangzeb's reign most of his time was spent around the fort. Later this fort came under the control of Nizam of Hyderabad and later Marathas.

The Solapur fort is definitely worth a visit for its peaceful and clean surroundings. It's not too crowded, but it could use more care and upkeep from the government to keep its history alive. Even so, it's a must-see spot.
