Knowing this place so well, I had such high hopes for this hotel. There wasn’t one single good experience I can count from this hotel. This is a three-star hotel. Installations are acceptable. No gym. No coffee in my room nor snacks. No microwave. No coffee maker. I asked for a fridge and never worked. No ironing board (I asked for one and never got it !!). The safe was not working, the shower drain was clogged and the bathroom was flooding. The TV setup was not working. Noisy like hell due to events hosted by the pool with FULL VOLUME. The WiFi was cutting in and out all the time. What a horrible place. A nightmare, especially Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are no ice makers in the whole hotel. If you want ice you have to go and buy it across the street. Management is a TOTAL JOKE. I DO NOT Recommend this hotel !!!

Shows nicely from the outside. The bathrooms in the rooms could use significant updating and repair. The thermostatic valves in each of my parties rooms was broken so your shower was extremely hot or extremely cold. Service was excruciatingly slow at the pool. It's a pretty hotel though.

First, I will write the positives; the hotel is very elegant, the staff is very friendly, the breakfast is amazing, and the pool is very nice. Now for the negatives; in our first room the wifi was terrible, the fridge didn't work, the music from the live band downstairs was so loud it was like the band was outside our door, the TV setup didn't work, no ironing board and no microwave or coffee maker. In our second room, the music was almost as loud, the shower overflowed, the TV setup didn't work, plus the other items mentioned above. I do not recommend this hotel.

I lost valuable items (watch, chain, bracelet and my wedding ring) in my room 107. I don't know what happened or who it could be. They just disappeared and when I reported to the Hotel I had no response. I am very sorry for all that situation since the hotel is very nice. Physically, it is spectacular to be able to stay in such an iconic place as the Hotel Del Prado. Unfortunately there are people who should not work here. Indelicate people and not to mention the administration.

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Every single staff member from front desk to doorman to restaurant staff made us feel so welcome. They exuded warmth and kindness and provided us with the best service we experienced in Colombia (we stayed mostly in international brand name 5 star hotels, but El Prado was even better). The swimming pool is a dream, huge, warm, never too crowded, in a courtyard of mature palm trees. The building itself is iconic in a beautiful art deco style reminiscent of the grand South Florida hotels. This beautiful property made our stay in Baranquilla absolutely perfect. We'd definitely return.

The Hotel Barranquilla Plaza is a stylish hotel located in a neoclassical building in the Metropolitana neighborhood of Barranquilla. It is a short distance from the Zoológico De Barranquilla Fundación Botática conservation center and the 17th-century gothic cathedral Iglesia de San Nicolás de Tolentino. The hotel has 160 rooms and suites, all of which are elegantly furnished with traditional wood furnishings and have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and minibars. Upgraded rooms have separate sitting areas, while suites have posh, old-world beds and some have separate dining rooms. The hotel also has a free parking garage, a spa with a sauna, a steam room, and an outdoor pool. Other amenities include a casual bar and terrace, an airy restaurant, and an open-air lobby. The staff at the Hotel Barranquilla Plaza are friendly and helpful, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome. The hotel is also in a great location, close to many of the city's best restaurants, shops, and attractions. Overall, the Hotel Barranquilla Plaza is a great choice for travelers looking for a stylish and comfortable hotel in Barranquilla. It is a bit on the expensive side, but the location, amenities, and service make it worth the price. Here are some pros and cons of the hotel: Pros: Stylish and elegant accommodations Free Wi-Fi Flat-screen TVs Minibars Free Parking Spa with sauna and steam room Outdoor pool Casual bar and terrace Airy restaurant Open-air lobby Friendly and helpful staff Great location Cons: Can be a bit expensive Some rooms are small Service can be slow at times Overall, I would recommend the Hotel Barranquilla Plaza to travelers looking for a stylish and comfortable hotel in Barranquilla. It is a bit expensive

Decent place to stay at an affordable price. I would skip the breakfast and eat off-site. The staff was attentive and friendly.

I went there for an event and stayed there for 3 days. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. There is wifi, functional channels, and room service. There are meeting rooms and spa. The food is good and so are the drinks.

Absolutely love this hotel. Nice pool, good service. Nice grounds. Breakfast could use a little work. Me and my girlfriend spent a lot of time here.

Amazing hotel and staff. The only downside was that they changed the cooks and now the Prado Burger is awful. It used to be the BEST burger ever made, now it tastes like and old McDonald's burger.

I been staying at Hotel El prado for over a week. The entire staff is always friendly and attentive for all your needs. They are always willing to help and always with a smile. The pool is incredible also next to the bar. Breakfast is also recommended

Historic and yet glamorous till this day. Very nice and well conserved unlike other historic buildings within the city. Long hallways and interesting arquitecture. Beautiful poolside bar and restaurant. A bit pricy but good portion sized dish. Great atmosphere when live band comes to play.

Dated rooms, be prepared for no hot water, beds are the older side but the A/C is strong and ultimately it's relatively simple. But this place isn't really about the rooms. It's a lovely old colonial style place, really beautiful grounds with several on site restaurants, a giant pool, and a kid's playground. The kitchen is very slow but the food is good and fresh, especially the seafood. The staff are very friendly (albeit rule oriented!) and we had a lovely three night stay with two small children. Compared with other hotels I have stayed at in BAQ (Estelar Alto Prado and Four Points) it's full of character and style!

My passport was stolen which had the entry stamp. When I checked in I was charged a higher rate because I was not able to show them the entry stamp. I gave them the police report providing my passport was stolen, but they did not care and charged me a higher rate.

Stayed there for my wedding. They let a party run until 3 am disturbing all the guests and couldn't sleep. Complaint procedure went absolutely nowhere, fake email addresses were given. A nice building but an incredibly bad service and poor manegemnt. Wouldn't shut the party down nor offer any form of compensation for the disturbed nights.

Nice classic hotel. People are very nice and helpful. Music at the pool area is way too loud, if you want yo have a nice meal at the restaurant it will be hard for you to have a conversation with some next to you, and at night you can still hear the music from the pool area in you room, so it's not good if you need a proper rest.

I’m here for lunch. It’s first time visit Barranquilla. Hotel el prado that the people recommended. The food is good and enough for adult and tasty.

some troubles with the conditioner air, it was solved in a few a hours, sadly our room had view to next building roof, all of the services employees was pretty kind and the breakfast food was great, like de pool.

I took a chance on this as I don't usually stay in resorts, but the old school style vibe and architecture caught my attention and I booked a night just to give it a spin and ended up extending my stay for another 2 days. I got the crispiest BAQ tan laying around their pool area with top 40 remix or latin music played in the background. Rooms were big and had all the things I needed for a good rest. The gym had a squat rack (which is rare in hotels) and some dumbbells so I could get a full body work out in. Service was cordial and everyone was friendly. Only little knock was it was a little out in a area that didn't have many restaurants near by like my favorite area, Alto Prado. Also I think I was the only single guy in the whole place during my stay, but if I'm around BAQ again, I would dip it to recharge. OVERALL: 4.7 Rooms: 4.5 Amenties: 4.7 Service: 4.5 Location: 4.0 Breakfast: 4.3

We stayed at el prado hotel for one night and it was extremely magical. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is extremely kind. We can’t wait to go back!

This is a beautiful hotel and my review really is about management not the staff, rooms, cleanliness etc. The rooms are super comfortable and clean. Food was great and staff was super super professional and accommodating. But this is not a smoker friendly hotel. The staff made me feel like they were very embarrassed that I was being targeted by management, while others smoked and I was just asked to stop or leave the property to do so. This was my first time ever in Colombia so it was my first stay here and my first impression. Being on vacation, I would have loved to enjoy a good smoke while eating or having drinks. Plenty of space to have a dedicated space for smokers, so please be mindful of your guest. If I return, I hope they will give all there guest same opportunity to enjoy there vacation equally, not take a few guest into account for their decisions.

Actually 2.5 stars for being slow in service area (1 hour wait for a drink) omg Rooms are up to a 3 star rating. Moldy shower curtains. Suggestion: instead of changing a soap every day, get new shower curtains. English menus would help, for lack of stuff’s knowledge. And come on get enough of tomato juice for bloody Marie’s, or run to the store next door to get it. Such a beautiful set up craves same level of providing. Hotel is gorgeous for event settings, but hire your own crew.

Room 211 ejecutivo, the bathroom was horrible, the old curtain has mold. We couldn’t sleep due to the high volume of music.

It's not just a place to stay but a whole experience. The staff is great and very attentive. The architecture is unique and evocative. Very reminiscent of the city's golden age. The location is quite central, the rooms are very comfortable and the prices are great considering what you get. I'm definitely coming back

Excellent staff! Secure, and ready to serve 24/7 Expect to be greeted by a friendly concierge and assisted to a little paradise. The restaurants are good, and surround a palm filled courtyard with pool area. Rooms are neat at this historical property, and grounds are constantly attended to. Front desk staff is knowledgeable about the area, and there’s always a nice taxi waiting to take you anywhere for local rates, no up charge. Don’t worry about taking cash to the pool if you want a cocktail, or a meal, just charge it to your room. There’s a lot to this property I have yet to discover, and you’ll enjoy a professional, family, or romantic vacation here.

Hotel is beautiful and welcoming. Staff members are very kind and friendly. My only complaint would be the humidity smell in the lobby and rooms, also i think they should have some kind of bench/table to open your luggage in the rooms in order to unpack with comfort.

If you are looking for a classic colonial style place to stay this is the one in Barranquilla. It's impressive the long list of celebrities that have stayed here over the years. I was not impressed with the rooms, yet I can understand the concept of keeping them simple and "old style", wouldn't have it any other way. The facilities though sure made up for it, especially the swimming pool and staff.

Only the pool is nice. The food is awful in general. Service super slow. The pizzeria is OK, nothing special. In some rooms you can hear the music from the pool. Rooms could be improved, the windows did not close totally. Energy waste, not eco friendly. The frigo bar was empty....

Breakfast chaos. Conclusion; I would go back for the positives. Positives; I stayed here 5 years ago before it came under the new owners. Pool area is still great Front desk staff can speak decent English Rooms have been refurbished Pizza at lunchtime is not bad Majority of staff are nice Negatives; Far too many poolside staff Breakfast is a complete chaos with zero organisation. You ask for things and they don't come. Egg service worse than chaotic No good on breakfast buffet when we wanted it. 20mins before breakfast closing they filled everything. Then all the staff were coming in piling their plates high and disappearing into the back Some of the older staff behind the bar at the pool are unobliging. We had to talk to 4 people to get a match on one of the poolside bar tv's Poolside staff don't talk any English. Fine for me as I speak Spanish. However, my friends struggled to communicate with the staff. The hotel played music at the pool all night for a wedding. Someone at the party kept calling my friends room throughout the night. We ordered lunch by the pool and the server went on break. When our food arrived the other staff didn't know who it was for. The poolside was very busy. Difficult to get a sunbed.many people reserving sunbeds with towels and not using them

Beautiful building, isolated from urban noise, crew is really helpful and gentle. Although the restaurant is nearly disgusting, and the bar service closes too early 11.00 pm. There are many nonsense rules about the space, like no use of the pool when weather looks almost bad, and no smoking areas within the hotel spaces

Gorgeous hotel. Very old fashioned, but very classy. The inside of the hotel it’s beautiful, the rooms are comfortable as well as the bed. The pools was beautiful and clean. The breakfast was fabulous and the service was amazing!! I would definitely would recommend this place to anyone that wants something classy and cute.

Everything that you expect about this hotel from its five star rating is a lie. Large rooms? Ours (116) was only 140-150 square feet, with a horrible musty odor, a non-working safe, plus a horrible bathroom in which the sliding doors had to be lifted to open and the water never warmed up. Service was awful. Every catered event - service employees had no class nor the intention of providing service. Not to mention, food everywhere in the hotel is a joke (our pool bar food - a seafood stew soup and a surf and turf - were not even salted in the slightest). The free breakfast we were getting was better, but that’s not saying much. What was particularly concerning to us was when on one of the days, an employee at around 5PM attempted to enter our room after it had been cleaned, while we were still inside. They did not knock. After I heard the door open, I confronted verbally (I was napping) and by the time I went to check the door the person was long gone. After reading the review from a person who lost all of their valuables while on their stay, I feel like I dodged a bullet. There were also random interruptions aside from that. Receiving phone calls at 3am and then no response after was one of them. It is also 8:25 in the morning on a Saturday and they are playing music from the poolside area at concert level volumes. My girlfriend woke up from it and we are livid. I would never stay in this hotel again even if it was paid for me. Yes, the exterior is very grandiose, and so is the interior design of the walkways and the pool area, but nothing can wash off the bad taste of everything else.

Hotel del Prado is an icon in Barranquilla's history and architecture. Located in el Prado neighborhood, it offers a great location for city's first time visitors who want to be close to popular landmarks and restaurants.i highly recommended it.

Hotel is very beautiful, unique architecture, but service, amenities (shower, windows - wood ones), food need improvement. Breakfast lacks variety, it’s the same every day (I stayed for 1 week), loud music till 2am on weekends (they have events in special halls - weddings and other big parties), keep it in mind when you book a room with pool / cafe view. Great pool and beach beds, super comfy bed.

  • 5/5 Joana A. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent location, nicest staff, incredible cleaning standards and comfiest bed possible. Only thing I'd recommend improving is the restaurant menu, which doesn't have a single vegan option (they've however prepared a delicious pasta with vegetables). Still, a hotel of this magnitude should really offer a healthy, vegan and vegetarian menu.

I've always wanted to stay here. I've heard so many great stories throughout my childhood. I finally got the opportunity this year to stay here, and it was enchanting. It has such an old Hollywood flair to it, and that's the beauty of it. It's like you traveled back in times to the 40s & 50s. The service was amazing. Everyone was super kind and accommodating. Can't wait to go back again.
