Thanks to the amazing Birchwood Physiotherapy Team Alison , James and Helen I couldn't have been in better hands. From start to finish over the 12 course program they managed to improve my neck , arm and shoulder issues to better than they were before my car accident. The speedy response to the initial request and the ability to get numerous appointments in was amazing in that it enabled me a more speedy recovery. And not forgetting Helen who kept me well informed and updated for my appointments, knowing full well that my Long Covid brain wouldn't have been able to keep up. Thank you all so much for the help you have provided.

Our teenage daughter had extremely tight hamstrings and was in a lot of pain. Five sessions later and she is pain free and enjoying sport again. The communication is great, the exercises are demonstrated in person and emailed through in detail and the staff are amazing with both adults and children. I'm in my late 70s but take regular exercise and a member of a Nordic Walking Fit Dorset. When I started having pain in my left knee I was very concerned that my fitness level would suffer. My GP referred to their Physiotherapist. There was no mention of an Xray or other investigation into what was causing the pain, which I expected. By this time I had to strap my knee every time I exercised due to the pain. So I went along and met James at the Birchwood Medical Centre with low expectations of a solution. How wrong could I be. After the initial consultation and a few follow up appointments, and doing the exercises that James advised, I began to feel the results. I have now been discharged from his care and have started walking without any support strapping. So if anyone reading this and doubts the benefits of Physiotherapy please give it a chance. The most effective physiotherapy I have received. When physiotherapy is required most people will always choose the nearest location to where they live. I had 5 physiotherapy sessions with Paul, over a four month period. This concerned a running injury to my foot. Paul has been brilliant. Using his expertise and wealth of knowledge, he was able to quickly diagnose the injury. He reassured me and provided me with an action plan. This included treatment, stretches and direction regarding footwear and insoles etc. This plan meant that I have come a long way in terms of my recovery and this would not have been possible without his intervention and guidance - thanks Paul. Paul is also a great chap. I've really enjoyed our sessions, he invests everything in you and does so with dedication, enthusiasm and humour. I saw two very skilled and very approachable practitioners. I have waited to review until I had tested my recovery and gone on a long walk. With the little exercises the team provided, I was pain free. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended in all aspects.

Lovely telephonist booked me in, same day appointment for a sore neck. Very polite & friendly. Physio Alison treated me. Full assessment first, then treatment. Was given exercises to do at home. I have seen many physiotherapists over the last few years and was recently referred to Birchwood for the first time via my health insurance. My experience has been excellent. Booking appointments is handled brilliantly by the team taking calls. Paul was the physio dealing with a very painful elbow issue that had been causing me a lot of pain for many months. Paul very quickly diagnosed what the issue was and put a treatment plan in place. After a few weeks I started to see real improvements and now finally, I can use my arm fully again and enjoy working-out at the gym. I can fully recommend their services.

Birchwood were recommended to me by a friend and I will have no hesitation in recommending to anyone else. I was in a lot of pain with sciatica and Paul helped massively with my recovery, including putting my mind at rest that there was a road to recovery, working on my flexibility, recommending the correct exercises and suggesting the right level of cycling when I started to feel better. I was referred to James Rainsbury at Birchwood after persistent back pain for 18 months. The pain was worse over night limiting my sleep to 4-hours. I had already been to a different physiotherapist who had been completely unable to diagnose the issue or make any progress. Further, I had spent the last year getting into fairly good physical shape with regular exercise and a good diet in the hope this would relieve my symptoms. However, nothing I was doing helped with my back at all. Within a very short time, James was able to pinpoint the source of my issue and devise a physiotherapy plan which granted near-immediate results. Within a week of seeing James, my sleep window had extended from about 4 hours a night to about 6 hours a night. I worked with James over 4 sessions in total and over the course of about 6-7 weeks. During this time, back pain reduced, my results improved (and continue to improve as I've entered self-management of my condition) to the point where I can now regularly sleep for a full 8 hours. The pain hasn't completely gone but I now feel confident in my ability to manage it. I can sleep well nearly every night which makes a huge difference to my ability to work productively and to be more than simply functional as a dad. It's hard to express how convinced I was there was nothing that could be done to improve my situation but with James' expertise and guidance (and importantly sticking to the physio plan he gave me) I'm now most the way back to normal. If you're in any doubt, pick up the phone to James. You could be surprised at what a difference he can make in a very short time.

Following a knee injury sustained on a tennis court earlier in the year, I was referred to Birchwood Physiotherapy. The initial examination and assessment process was thorough and very professional, which in itself inspired confidence. Over a period of weeks I have been guided through a progressively more wide-ranging set of strengthening and conditioning exercise routines, and this is already reducing pain, discomfort and joint stiffness. James and Alison, both of whom have treated me at different times, are clearly very much experts in their field. Their approach is focused, friendly and effective. I recommend them very highly.

I had a very good experience with Birchwood Physiotherapy. Paul was knowledgeable and experienced. He dealt with my injury very well and I am much improved. Rather than just looking at the bit that hurts, Alison demonstrates an awareness of the whole body, and so supports healing and treatment holistically, with clear guidance and instruction on how to protect and repair the damage. Alison and her team really helped me easy my back pain and continue my active lifestyle as usual. Stacey is very professional and knowledgeable whilst demonstrating a genuine interest in her client as a person.
