The station was opened on August 31, 1975 in connection with the launch of the first stage of the blue line. Distance from Kungsträdgården Station is 6.5 km. It is located in stone chambers 27–36 meters underground below Skytteholmsparken. It has two ticket halls with an entrance to the south from the Centralvägen side and to the north from the Centrumslingan side at Solna centrumanläggning. At the northern entrance from 2013 you can go to Tvärbanan (line 30). The artwork by Karl-Olov Bjork (1975) and Anders Oberg (1975, 1992), including various Swedish motifs that show the problems of Sweden in the 1970s and different eyes. The roof and walls of the station are painted green and red.

This station is adorned in red and green color, featuring swedish motif that beautifully depict the country’s history. These colors reminds me my homeland, Bangladesh.
