I went to do the Deer Run Trail, it is a loop that returns to the same parking lot. It was a nice trail with good up and down terrain and a mix of environments. Some is in the woods and hills, some along a creek/river and in the valley. Wad around 3 miles I think and took a little over an hour when stopping to look at stuff. Would do it again.

I loved this park. It reminds me of hikes I'd take as a kid, only more intense. There is a very steep and large ravine. You go down and then up forever, so it's good to get your heart pounding! There are stairs that take you down, down, down, the ravine. (Or up depending which direction you go). This is a nice loop trail that is 1.8 miles, but is one of the harder trails in the metroparks. When you get to the bottom there are several places where you can see or even access the stream at the bottom of the ravine.

Loved it! Definitely recommended it. It was a little difficult...for me since I'm out of shape. You will have a good workout. Bring water!

A metro park with room for picnicking, hiking, walking, wildlife, and trail running. There is a wooded area with a 1.8-mile trail to explore and a grassy area for activities and picnicking. Public bathrooms are available. Please click the Like button if you found this review helpful.

Gotta go up those steps for a maximum cardio and gluteus maximus experience! The views don't hurt either 😉

Nice park with some picnic tables and grills for a picnic. Trails are very well taken care of with lots of stairs and wooden walkways. The Deer Run Trail has lots of good views and is very well marked. Some inclines and declines with loose gravel that could pose risky for younger kids or older adults. Overall a great little park.

Beautiful hike! I used to hike here in college and after grad school! This is definitely one of the better hikes in the area if you are looking to get a little Ohio elevation gain. The buckeye trail is well marked here as well!

Deer Run trail is beautiful. Trail is dirt, not paved and has some steeper areas, one set of quite a few steps. We used hiking sticks for safety.

Outhouse and information board at trailhead / parking lot. Walked with family and my dogs. Deer Run Trail was beautiful just watch out for the tree roots. Deer Run Trail: 2 miles: Difficult

What a wonderful hike. Hit the 2.3 mile Deer Run loop and the 1.5 out 1.5back BuckeyeTrail. 300ft elevation change.

A nice switchback trail up & down a revine. It's rated as difficult, but I didn't think it was. (Even with my bad knee) There are also many benches to sit and enjoy the area. It would be really pretty hike in the Fall.

This is easily one of the best parks in the area. About halfway through the trail you will come across both a creek and a barn, making for some neat points of interest along the hike. A couple things about this park… 1) Bring bug spray! If you stop walking for a moment, you’ll be covered in gnats and mosquitos 2) It’s about 2 miles long to finish the loop and none of it is paved, so dress appropriately. There are slight inclines, so keep that in mind. The path is clear and there are frequent trail markers as well. 3) The parking lot has a bathroom which is convenient, but it is rather primitive (no flushing or sink). There are also 4+ picnic tables, so feel free to have a picnic.

Amazing park for a decent walk/excersize. One large loop path and one wooded double back path if you go straight to the left side of the bathrooms. 0 complaints about this park!

A great spot for a fall hike! It is hilly so be aware it may not be for people who can't handle inclines/declines. Yet it was a gorgeous trail. We will be back!

The first hike I ever needed rescued from!!! It’s a tough, loop hike. Keep in mind that you have to do the opposite of what you’re doing on your return! The GREAT CVNP rangers always seem to be there when you need them! A ranger drove up & said “You look a bit tire, and drive me back to my car.”

Hiked last week and it was a horrible muddy mess. Ive hiked here many times. They've changed the trail and it's a mess right now. It's a beautiful trail, just wait until its frozen or dried out a bit

Probably my favorite park in the district. Nice creek bed mid-trail and a can provide a challenge if pace is kept brisk. SMP does well to maintain their areas.

Very nice place to visit. No bikes allowed but stairs for the aerobic or sadistic person. Nice views. I had some bug bites enen wearing long pants and hiking boots. Not to overly crowded but, you were never alone on the trails. Even though not too crowded where we were not a masks was to be seen. The day was hot and humid and in general social distancing was the event of the day! Nice quiet place enjoyed being there. The water levels in the river seemed very low. Enjoy when you go.

This was my first time at this park. It was really amazing. I loved that the terrain was a bit of a challenge (one point with a lot of stairs). A nice diversity in landscape. The trail goes by a cool barn and there are some great views of the river. There is also an awesome huge American Sycamore along the trail.

Deer run trail has great views and a lot of elevation changes - half of which (the eastern side of the loop) has stairs, while the western side has less grade and is easier to walk. Solid moderate-to-difficult trail due to that elevation.

Lots of steps and stairs! Great trail up and down hills. Not for the aged hikers, as the steps can put a hurting on your knees, but if you can do it the trail is great. Yellow creek near the barn is a dream. Saw the biggest spider in ohio living under a log in the stream, sorry no pic though :/ Not too busy on most days. Buckeye trail cuts through the deer trail and if you jump on buckeye trail it is a long hike into the wilderness, it took 6 hours to get back! Tons of chipmunks and squirrel, no bears.
