What an experience!! I really enjoyed visiting Dr. Bob Smith’s historic house where Bill did his first 12 step with Bob. I am so grateful to AA for saving my life and this place is such spiritual gem. The gift shop is great as well! I bought a shirt, a lapel pin, an original Big Book and a coffee cup.

If you are interested in the history of twelve step programs, this is a don't miss spot. The house has been lovingly restored to it's original condition based on interviews with Dr Bob's daughter. There is a lot of AA memorabilia. The staff person (maybe a volunteer?) gave us a really good tour of the house. He knew a lot of interesting details. Next door is a gift shop with a lot of books and other items. There is no charge, but a suggested donation of $5. Based on other historic places we have visited, $5 is a steal of a deal. If you can afford to donate more, you should.

Dr Bob’s Home has been a blessing to so many. It is hard to imagine that such a powerful ministry was birthed right here in Akron, Ohio. Berrodin Bed & Breakfast, my ministry just a few blocks from Dr. Bob’s Home, has the privilege of serving many guests from all over the world who have come to visit this historic landmark. The house itself is a very powerful testimony, the gift shop next door has a wonderful selection of items to take home, and the staff for years has blessed me with their prayers, kindness, and support. I am especially grateful for Sandy in the gift shop. Anyone visiting Akron, Ohio should make it a big priority to visit Dr. Bob’s Home. I would highly recommend Dr. Bob’s Home as a place to visit while here in Akron. #FoundersDay2022

Awsome trip from Seattle WA founders day 2023 including Dr Bob's house. Got to do the 3rd step Prayer in the same room Dr Bob would bring drunks off the street and do there 3rd step Prayer in. Of course need lots of new friends in the fellowship. Thank you God

I had a wonderful visit learning about one of the most influential persons in American History. My guide Jim P. was very knowledgeable and helped me to better understand the challenges that Dr. Bob and his family faced in the 1930's. A must visit for anyone involved in a 12;step program.

Great place to visit. Lots of history there and awesome people running the place. They even stayed open late for me because I rode a long way to get there. Had an amazing time.

For us alcoholics it's a very humbling experience. It was so awesome getting told all the history from our guide and learning that much more about the AA founders. Plus they have a gift shop next door with all sorts of coins for every sober year!

I Drank with Dr. Bob ❤️ Gift shop and Volunteers very inviting, educational, and made the experience even more special! Don't forget to ask about Roger, their dog, see where he's buried and check out his scratch marks on back of basement door! Grateful to be alive and sober 38 yrs thanks to these 2 men having coffee in this kitchen! ☕ 2/5/85

"Welcome home" is how we were greeted when we got here. For anyone looking to understand the history of AA, this is the place to go. I recommend the off-season to get the most out of your visit.

An amazing experience. I got to step into a Time Machine today. I was greeted by Ken who said “welcome home” the second he opened the door. Thanks Ken for the tour and carefully explaining all the different elements of the home. I won’t forget it!

He wasn't home when we visited. Couple of his friends were there. His hours are odd 12-3 most every day I believe.

If you're sober and in the program, this a must visit. Don't forget to stop in next door and buy your coffee cup. I come and visit as often as I can and pray by the bedside. Most days they are open at noon-5.

You ever need to go see a piece of history in Akron ohio, it's a meaningful, peaceful place. There's just something special about it, and the people who are there doing tours and running the gift shop are just some awesome people❤

Great place to indulge in whether you are in recovery or alcoholics anonymous or just genuinely interested in the roots of AA. My guide who was also in recovery gave me a great in depth tour and it was a great experience. Alcoholism is real and it's an everyday struggle and it's cool to see where it all started at in 1935 with dr.bob and the start of him taking his life back.
