What a beautiful park. There are really nice trails. One trail is a floating trail where you can look for wildlife or bring your pole and fish. There are historical buildings and historic signs to read. Nice gardens and the workers are very nice.

An expansive, really unexpected park! There are many different routes to walk, it is dog friendly, and was one of my favorite spots to see foliage this year. Especially loved the dock-like water walking path. Truly want to go here again so I can peek inside the mansion (as of last week, it is only open for tours a few times a week, and Monday is not one of those days). Totally free!

Great area to walk and enjoy the water and quiet. Very interesting info. Unfortunately we were there during the week and museum was closed.

A wonderful place to spend an afternoon. There’s walking trails, a huge pond full of blue herons, and docks that stick out into the water. The mansion and gardens are so beautiful too. Bring your camera!

While driving by I noticed what I thought to be a little park. “Boy was I wrong!” This county park is pretty big with a multitude of activities to do. I really enjoyed the well marked trails around Smithville Lake and Smithville Woods. After checking out a few trails I was able to go on a mini history excursion around the once small village of Smithville. This area was well maintained, offered public restrooms and was full of information provided by large placards placed throughout the park about its history. I learned that a tour of the Smithville grounds is provided May-October, every Thursday and Sunday, at 1, 2, and 3PM, via a donation. I truly enjoyed this location and would recommend it to anyone interested in nature or learning about history.

I attended the St. Patrick’s Day tea with my sister. We were unsure what to expect but were incredibly satisfied with the experience! The dining room of the mansion was beautiful. There were many tea options with beautiful tea China and unlimited hot water. There were six different tea finger sandwiches (one for each person of each variety) were all delicious as well as six different desserts that were also all delicious. The tour following the tea was incredibly thorough and showed all points of interest in the mansion. I would definitely attend the tea again and look forward to returning with other friends for the halloween and Christmas tea especially!

Lovely and a great place for meeting up and talking with friends or having a picnic. Potentially an awesome destination if you just want a nice place to take a meeting from your car.

Great location to explore area's long history. Be sure to explore the whole area including the floating bridge on the lake. Beautiful location with varied topography for fall photo sessions.
