WOW! Picked this place totally at random because it sounded delicious online. It was incredible. All four of us loved our dishes. Flavors were complex and original. Food was perfectly cooked. But, by far the best part was the service. It rivaled the service in the best restaurants I have ever been to. Absolutely recommend and we will be back.

What a wonderful find. Peruvian food with Ceviche and squid with Tigers mik, Duck, seafood with fried rice, and much more. The spices/and sauces were delightful.

Legit Peruvian spot! I tried the lomo saltado, anticuchos, leche de tigre, and pisco sour. Everything was delicious. Also tried the rice and beans for the kiddo and that was great too. I'm picky with my Peruvian food and this place was everything I wanted and more :)

The best food, I've had in a while. Super tasty, and the dishes looked beautiful. They had great service, a great atmosphere and decoration.

Excellent. Fantastic. Loved it. Service was so accommodating (especially given our many dietary restrictions). They gave us a complimentary ceviche wonton that was delicious. Food was amazing! (And I’ve been blessed to have lots of delicious Peruvian food in my life!) Great balance of innovation with traditional Peruvian cuisine. My favorite spot in Rockville for sure!

Tried the Causa de pollo as an appetizer and Aji de gallina for the main course. Both were good. They also sent out complimentary hors d'oeuvres. The ambiance and decor of the place were very interesting. About half the options were seafood. Thr staff was great. On the more expensive side.

Peruvian cuisine is one of my favorite and I wanted to look for a new restaurant to try with my husband in Rockville. I found La Canela searching on google maps and it had over 400 reviews with a rating over 4 stars so we decided to give it a try for date night. We came for dinner on a Saturday night around 6:30PM. The restaurant wasn’t busy and we were seated right away. While waiting for our food, we received a complimentary snack to try from the chef. It was fish ceviche in what looked like a fried wonton and it was quite delicious! My husband ordered a Sierra Nevada IPA for drinks and I tried their Pisco Strawberry Smash. My drink was the right amount of strong and reminded me of a margarita without the salt rim. For dinner, I ordered the Fettuccini a la Huancaína and my husband ordered the Pollo Saltado. The lomo saltado in my dish was perfectly seasoned but the fettuccini was not what I expected. I love huancaína sauce but this was more on the cheeser side and very thick in consistency. Needless to say, I didn’t finish the pasta portion on my dish. My husband said his pollo saltado was delicious. No complaints on his part about the food. Service was on the slower end of things. Although, we got seated very quickly - the waiters barely came around to check on us. It also seems, they all share the tables and we weren’t assigned a specific waiter. We had to ask for our check twice. The first waitress never brought the check so I was able to flag down a second waiter and he brought it to us. All in all, the food and drinks were delicious and we would definitely come back to eat here again.

I cannot express enough how much you need to try this restaurant. It is one of my absolute favorite restaurants that has a delicious and unique menu. The antichuchos de corazón is delectable and you need to try it, it is juicy and marinated to perfection. My other favorite meal here is the duck leg which is always perfect, mouth-watering and never overcooked. The duck is served with a fried rice of sorts that is very peppered. For dessert I had the tres leches which was so tasty. La Canela serves the best margaritas I have ever had in my entire life and I cannot say that enough. The lighting in here is lacking but the service and the kitchen are on point. This location has two floors with a small bar that isn't used upstairs and a larger private dining area in the upstairs.

Generally, not bad. The appetizer chicharrones were top notch, as was the huancaina sauce. The beef was a bit overdone, and my friend who ordered the arroz con mariscos said it wasn't something they would reorder. I was disappointed that only 3/5 of the desserts were available.

Really enjoyed my time here. I ordered the Calamar and yuca and my friend ordered the stuff potatoes (can't remember the name). It came with a complimentary ceviche wonton that was amazingly good. Best one bitter ever! This is my second time, and had to bring a new friend here! Service was great, ask for Oscar. Very attentive and overall pleasant and kind. Will be back and will introduce another friend to this spot.

We specifically drove to this place per a friend’s recommendation. It did not disappoint at all. The food was amazing, we had the combined dish which allows you to try Leche de Tigre, Ceviche, Calamari and Rice with seafood… glorious! The service was great and the ambiance just perfect.

We got the Trucha (Fried rainbow trout) and the duck leg confit. The trout was nicely done and the pickled onions that came with it complemented the fish and rice. However, the lentils that came with it were a little salty for my taste. The duck was great, very tender and juicy. The puree that came with it was buttery and savory. Overall, worth the price you spend here.

The restaurant decor is beautiful. Staff is super friendly and professional. Food was delicious but too salty for me, specially the seco de carne. Parking garage is a breeze walking distance. Definitely I'll be trying La canela one more time. I love Rockville town square.

Awesome!!! Picked this place at random because I want to taste Peruvian foods. It was incredible. I liked all the dishes, but I loved the middle food of the first picture and free appetizer of the second picture. Flavor itself was very interestingly complex. Strongly recommend, and I will definitely come back.

We enjoyed a meal at La Canela on a busy St. Patrick's day evening. We had a reservation and staff were very kind when we arrived, although slow at seating us as we sat around and waited for roughly ten minutes. This is understandable due to the short staffing plaguing the food industry. The food in general tasted terrific, and the ambiance was also very classy. My meal had a generous portion of rice and garbanzos, but a very small helping of short ribs. The individual meals cost in the $25-$35 range, while cocktails were about $12-$14 each.

Came here on a first date and I made a great choice. The atmosphere was very romantic and cozy. The music was at a perfect volume to hear it and not have to yell across the table. It kept our dinner feeling very private, even with a full restaurant. The food was incredible. The lamb was so tender and the duck was phenomenal. Each seasoned perfectly. The service was quick, helpful, and the waiter was genuine and knowledgeable. The drinks were overpriced, as to be expected from a fine restaurant. The waiter sold me on the margarita using a special brandy instead of tequila, but I would rather spend 6 dollars on a coke than 15 dollars on a margarita. The menu's could have a more premium presentation than a laminated word document. Overall stellar job.

Wow, this place was amazing! Definitely check out this gem in Rockville. Service: We were seated immediately. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, and gave us recommendations on what to order. We also had an extra appetizer, compliments of the chef, which was a very nice touch! Food: For appetizers, we got the anticuchos and ceviche pescado - both were delicious and paired with amazing sauces. And the entrees.... I'm still thinking about the Lenguado and how delicious it was. Super crispy fish fried to perfection 🤩. And the Arroz Con Mariscos was to die for. Atmosphere: Cozy vibes, dim lighting, super cute decor....everything here was on point. HIGHLY recommend stopping by this place for dinner the next time you're in Rockville. I know I'm looking forward to my next visit already ;P

I highly recommend La Canela! The food, atmosphere, and staff are truly wonderful! My wife and I recently got married, doing a small (~20 person) wedding, and we chose La Canela for the reception. They have a semi-private upstairs that worked out great for our party. Lilian and the staff were so nice and accommodating for what we needed, and our guests really loved the food and atmosphere. I have tried the ceviche, Tomate palta, and the Lomo Saltado, and all were delicious. The street is closed off to traffic, so it's a really great place to have lunch or dinner and then walk around. I highly recommend it!

Very nice spot for Peruvian food in Rockville. The interior itself is great and makes for a nice atmosphere. I had the Seco de Cabrito, and man was it delicious. For the table we shared a Ceviche, Causa & Salchipapa. Really enjoyed dining here!

They had a great selection of Peruvian food. I must go again to try more dishes. The service was attentive and the food was just as good.
