The chicken Katsu spicy miso ramen was amazing! The spiciness of the soup was on point and the noodles were at its perfect texture, not too hard or too soft. The chicken Katsu was very tender and crispy. Loved the sauce that came with the chicken Katsu and I liked the way that they separated the chicken and ramen so the chicken wouldn’t be soaked in the ramen and become soggy.

Great service, ordering via phone and prep time is quick. Good selection of sapporo beers. Shoyu was good and likely the bone broth. Miso broth was filling and the pork tender and flavorful. If you like bamboo, menma is a good side. Desserts are ok, the crepe cake was small but the matcha Gelato was great, semi sweet. For Japanese snacks drop by Ebisu market next door!

We ordered Beef Brisket Buns, Shrimp Tempura Ramen in Volcano base, Shrimp Tempura and Sweet Potato roll. The brisket had alot of fat on the meat. Sushi was fresh and great. I wish the Volano base was spicier and had options to add more. All and all the food was good and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The dango is the best! As a one piece watcher I definitely had to try it and immediately loved it. That is what made it 4 star for me. The ramen was okay. I’m trying to find a place where the noodles are made in-house . I tried the chicken katsu ramen. Nice lil “cozy” space. quick and friendly service as well. Will go again to try more.

Definitely 5/5 stars. Vibe and food was excellent. Came here for the first time to meet a friend per his recommendation and will definitely be coming back.

Small but terrific place with great service. They have a range of items from delicious sushi, donburi, and ramen. I had the California roll (solid for the fake crab kind of California roll), a fresh mixed salad with sesame dressing (could have used a bit more dressing), the volcano roll (quite tasty with a great presentation), and a side of the spicy pork belly (very tasty!). I liked the contactless ordering but surprisingly they didn't have contactless payment. Staff was friendly and helpful. A nice local spot to return to.

Get the bulging bun, get the salad, get the tempura sushi, the rice bowls. Just get the whole menu. We were DELIGHTED that this quaint little shop had such FABULOUS flavors. You will not regret trying this place. They have mastered the foods that we ordered and we look forward to trying more dishes from this place. Definitely a new favorite ❤️

Delicious ramen and the staff seems to really care about the restaurant. Parking is convenient and picking up food should be super easy. The kitchen closes 30 mins before closing time so make sure to get in before!

We went to this place two nights in a row, the sushi was so fresh and the ramen was delicious, definitely recommend it! Do make sure your food went into their system because you have to place it over their app on their phone. We waited for good 25 mins before we found out that they had a bug on the app and the order didn’t go through, aside from that one minor complaint, great service and great food!

This place is fine. Ramen was okay, the tonkatsu broth was better than the spicy miso, which felt really oily. The pork was decent, price was ok. Fried chicken wasn't the crispiest but it was a large portion and I liked the sauce. Everything was just fine, nothing exciting.

My husband and I haven’t gotten to try much sushi since we moved here in July. This place came highly recommended by some of our dear friends and it didn’t disappoint! Well this place is small it feels very cozy and I just love the ambience! While they do bring you a paper menu, you can scan a QR code and just order on your phone rather than waiting on the waitress to return. Super easy! We ordered quite a few different dishes and enjoyed them all! The first dish to arrive was the specialty role that involved tempura shrimp. It was described as being spicy, but wasn’t at all! It simply had great flavor which was perfect for me! Next time we return, I will get my own role so I don’t have to share with my husband. Lol Second to arrive war the dumplings. It looked as though they were steamed and then sat down in a hot pan to crisp up the bottom. I loved these two different textures and the flavor was even better! Next we received the bullGogi Bao buns. I felt that they were of a generous size. Sometimes I find the buns to be small but so puffy that you can’t fit much inside them. These gave a decent amount of meat and tasted perfect with the spicy mayo dipping sauce on the side! We ended up ordering a second round of these because my husband was so smitten! Lastly, we got our bowl of Ramen. I think we chose the miso broth and obviously the Ramen noodles, Bulgogi and extra corn. The flavor was great! My husband was definitely a fan of this as well! My husband somehow had room for dessert and went with the Moki. He was very pleased. I can’t wait to go back and get more of that sushi and the dumplings! I can’t wait!

The food and service is moderate. It’s definitely a busy place even after coming on a weekday night for dinner, and slightly overpriced at $16 for a bowl of ramen. The starters are even more expensive and are also average, like the takoyaki came only with 5 pieces and didn’t have much flavor inside the batter and barely much sauce on top. I enjoy how you can choose your soup base, protein, and add-ons which allows for more customization and they have several different protein options including unique ones such as bulgogi and chicken katsu. It was good that the chicken katsu came on the side with a separate japanese dipping sauce that I used alongside dipping it into the soup. The katsu was bland which makes sense since it was paired with the soup but also wasn't that crispy. In my opinion, all of the soups are on the saltier and very intense savory side, especially the spicy ones which are packed with spices. The spicy level was great for me in both the volcano and spicy miso ramen, but I feel like it was too much that it overwhelmed the base richness of the tonkotsu broth(which I should probably try next time). The shoyu tori was a chicken and soy based soup which was good but kind of salty. Personally, between the volcano and spicy miso I liked the spicy miso because of the umami from the miso paste, though both were pretty good. The portion sizes are pretty generous, but I wish there were more vegetable toppings like mushrooms.

I must say that MAKI serves some delicious DIY ramen and udon noodle bowls, along with some soft, hot gooey takoyaki and refreshing mango mochi ice cream. While I wish that the takoyaki was paired with some scallions and arugula and that the dango was bigger, all in all, my friend, Daniella and I really enjoyed our time here, especially since the servers are so nice, the food was good for quality and quantity, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I especially appreciate the fact that you can order kimchi here. It’s great for days when my stomach isn’t feeling the best. Not bad for the prices that they offered! :)

💰: around $13 for my lunch special chicken katsu 🍜: The chicken katsu is super crispy. And the dipping sauce makes it even better. The volcano base is somehow tooooo spicy for me 🥵. I always have stomachache after having this lol. Btw, make sure to have the curly noodle. It's much more chewy than the skinny one. 💺: The store is not spacious. So make sure to avoid the peak hours.

Great hole in the wall dining experience with friendly and professional staff. Ramen was very tasty, sushi had sufficient meat. Also this place offers shoyu or chicken broths for your ramen as well as miso if you want pork-free options. My only side note would be that the crunch salmon roll wasn't very spicy or crunchy.

Food is good! Service is great! I got the pork belly kimchi rice bowl it’s pretty spicy but the egg has no flavor I had to use spicy mayo from my bulgogi bun that’s freaky awesome! I tried the ramen and the broth it’s good but some will probably not like it since it’s close to being fishy and I’m not a fan of the noodles but it’s good enough. Place is Small! They need to move to a bigger place! If my whole family eats it will probably just us in the restaurant! :) If you’re ou planning dinner. Get there before it gets busy like in weekdays like 5pm . Overall great experience.

Great food and great service! We showed up as a party of six and they were very accommodating! The waitress made sure everyone’s order was perfect and the staff kept checking in to ensure we were happy! Even though it’s a 45 minute drive from where I live I will definitely be coming back again and again!

Fall weather calls for a warm bowl of ramen. I tried their spicy miso soup base with chicken katsu and their vegetable gyoza as an appetizer. The chicken katsu had the perfect texture and just the right amount of spices. It was the highlight of my meal. The spicy miso ramen was great but I wish it had more vegetables like mushrooms and edamame. I’d pay more if it meant having more vegetables as toppings. The vegetable gyoza were okay, the texture was a little weird. The best way I can describe them is oozy. They taste best when eaten warm. I wouldn’t recommend letting them cool down because it becomes kind of mushy.

Absolutely an amazing place to go to. Food is great along with the service. Can't wait to go back for more Tonkatsu Ramen!

Everything was delicious. We tried the Black Dragon Roll, Unagi Dumplings, Ramen Soup and Chicken Teriyaki...service was friendly and efficient.

Best ramen in the DMV area. However I believe they are inconsistent with some of their other dishes. We ordered the pork belly bun and it didn't look any of the other pictures posted. Also the pork belly tasted very bland on the bun. However, the pork belly that came with the ramen was delicious.

Tonkotsu ramen is great. The broth isn't too salty, but noodles are a bit too wonton-noodley though. Kakuni topping is perfect and eggs are jammy. Pork jowl skewers (tontoro) were absolutely a salt bomb, super crazy salty. I have never gotten a swollen face the day after a salty meal, but this did it... Karaage was unusual. The breading was a batter instead of a dredge and ended up being very similar to chinese takeout sweet sour chicken. Service was good. Overall, not too bad.

Very cool little place! Food was excellent! Staff was very accommodating and extra friendly! Stopped by for some lunch and were not disappointed! Menu had nice options, but not overwhelming. Would definitely like to go back and try some more items!

Tasty food and great service. The ramen/udon menu is slightly confusing — you get to pick the noodles, protein or vegetable, and soup base separately. The food came quickly and the atmosphere was relaxing. They played kdrama on tv which was fun.

Small place but full of variety delicious Japanese food and nice atmosphere inside dine-in room. I tried their rice bowls and ramen noodles a few time, everything was so delicious. Their service also friendly any time when I was there. The price might be a little high but you get a good quality meal. I can say a lot of Japanese restaurant choices in Rockville, MD area, but this place "DON'T MISS" it. p.s one thing I might a little concern about them, there is quite limit parking there and always packed during popular time (lunch/dinner/weekend). So it is better to avoid that.

Jan 2023 Ordered sushi lunch special here. The online ordering experience was normal, with the lunch specials only appearing during the specified time. They only have an ASAP pick up option, and you have to pay in store. Parking here is always annoying. There are limited parking spaces by the restaurants that are usually taken during peak times. When all the spots are taken, the driveway in front usually turns into 1 lane instead of 2. Parking is more plentiful (and less hazardous) further away at the adjacent (non-food) stores. The place itself is dimly it and pretty cozy. Expect a wait during peak times. The staff are friendly and quick, and I noticed they still wear masks. I got the 3 rolls + miso soup special with California roll, Salmon & Avocado roll, and Grilled Eel & Avocado roll. Note the Miso soup is bagged separately from the sushi (they gave me 2 bags instead of 1). For those interested, yes, they punched a hole in the lid of the miso soup. The soup itself was a little bit too salty. For the sushi, I was interested to see they gave 8 pieces instead of the usual 6. The sushi itself was decent; good, but nothing noteworthy. Though I think they put a bit too much sauce on the eel. I would maybe come here again.

Literally the best ramen I’ve had in the DMV. After discovering this place a few months ago I’ve been addicted. The service is great and the food is even better. My go to is the spicy miso chicken katsu ramen, and ever time I go a like to try a different appetizer. I HIGHLY recommend their bulgogi buns, 10/10. The sushi is also to die for. This place is my favorite restaurant in Maryland.

This restaurant have only four sitting tables and one waiter overlooking all of the tables. However, food comes out at rather quicker than normal full staffed restaurants. Food is of course amazing. Probably one of the best sushi and ramen in Rockville area. I would definitely recommend to come and try this restaurants but expect to wait at least 10 min to be seated.
