Best Steak place in New Jersey! Cowboy Ribeye was so amazing & soft! You can literally cut that with butter knife. Best ambience, best food, best service. They have a very good dessert options too. We usually order Mousse Cake alot here. But tonight we ordered Creme Brulee. Believe me it's one of the best Brulee I've ever had. I don't want to name other steakhouses in New Jersey, but this is much better than all the famous places I've had. 100% recommended for steak & dessert.

From the moment we walked in to the service it was an awesome experience. We were celebrating an anniversary! The seafood tower with its variety was great. It came with lobster, shrimp, oysters, crab and clams. The bone in rib eye was cooked perfect. Get the popover bread it’s a must and delicious!

Our waiter Emery was outstanding and spot on. His recommendations were superb. 3lb lobster seemed on the lite side compared to the last time we where there. Other than that all was just as good as always

Even with *somewhat delightful food, we left with a sour taste in our mouths, as we were unpleasantly surprised to be charged $17 for sparkling water that was not specified to be extra while I requested for more water as well. The service was a bit strong at times while we recognize the diligence. If anything, letting your diners know sparkling water is extra could make a world of difference.

My husband and I had our Easter dinner at Char. It was our first time there. The waiter was awesome and should receive 10 🌟 for his attentive and gracious service (wish I could recall his name). His recommendations were on point. In my opinion, the portion size should be increased. My husband ordered the halibut, and his food portion didn't fill him. I ordered the special lamb chops, and they were tasty. The only downside to our first experience was a patron who decided to vape during dinner. We were on the receiving end of his cloud of smoke. Not sure if the staff seen this and no, we didn't make acomplaunt; we just ended our dinner early and left.

Char is ok for the area. It’s been around awhile and I’ve been there a few times. Food is good. Service is good. Drinks at the bar sometimes are good (you would think you could make a good Old Fashioned at a steakhouse). Hint, the ice isn’t crushed and the fruit isn’t muddled. Burger I got was ok even though I ordered medium rare and it came out medium well. Perhaps it was just an off night for the team.

Great steak. Had the 12 oz filet. Cooked perfectly. My wife had the crab cakes that she thought were the best she’s ever had. Service was top notch even with a full restaurant. Was our first time at Char and we were impressed. Will definitely be back.

Very nice restaurant and great experience overall. My waiter Greg was very friendly, attentive and personable. I had a ribeye that was cooked precisely as it should have been. I paired it with mashed potatoes which were good as well. Had a very good Manhattan to start, a medium bodied Malbec with my steak and finished the evening with some chocolate mousse cake and a Graham's 30yr tawny port. The chocolate cake was massive. All sides are designed to share. I would definitely recommend Char for a nice night out and a fabulous steak dinner.

Nice ambience, great service, lovely wine options, and pretty good food. Tried the steak, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and creme brûlée. Steak was cooked nicely but not flavorful at all. The roasted garlic it came with was a nice touch though. Creme brûlée came with amaretto cookies and was sweet but absolutely delicious. Wouldn’t mind coming back for another business dinner. Now for my standard COVID comments as of May 2022. Seating is decent. We sat in a section that’s farther from the other tables so it was perfect for me. I don’t believe I saw much of the staff wearing masks. Still felt comfortable eating indoors there.

We found Char Steakhouse through a Google search while visiting the area from out-of-state. Starting with complimentary rosemary focaccia bread, we enjoyed crab-stuffed mushrooms, dry aged Prime Cowboy Ribeye, salmon cobb salad, sautéed spinach, and a trio of lemon, mango and raspberry sorbets. Everything was beyond delicious! Our waiter — Emery — was simply first class. We were also impressed with the hostesses, busboys, and management who all worked together seamlessly to ensure a memorable experience. We highly recommend this truly wonderful restaurant!!

Our waiter attempted to make our meal enjoyable. When asking for suggestions, he recommended the most expensive options on the menu. Every side was an upcharge. The bread serving was provided with little explanation about what was being offered. (I thought I was getting rye bread but instead got a popover.) The food itself was ok. Not spectacular and not terrible. Two entrees, two sides, a soda, a glass of wine, two desserts and a tip set us back over $200. I just didn't enjoy the experience enough to repeat the experience.

Good food and service, gets a little crazy on weekend nights. It feels more like a restaurant that serves steak vs. a steakhouse. Tables should have more than one server on weekend nights at these prices. A few of the steaks were unfortunately overcooked but not worth complaining and waiting. Several bar and food mistakes which could have been avoided, not the server's fault. He worked hard and did the best he could.

Was here for a corporate dinner. Service was good and the steak was tender and juicy. The appetizers were potatoes with shredded beef and calamari and for the vegetarians beefsteak tomatoes with blue cheese and their house sauce which tasted like balsamic glaze. Main course for vegetarians was wild rice with veggies. Overall a good place for steak. Dessert was flan and cookie with icecream. I opted for the flan which was decent.

I shared this beautiful Porterhouse for 2 with a friend and sat at the bar. I was apprehensive about sitting at the bar to eat this amazing cut of prime meat, along with the spot-on, traditional spinach & potatoes au gratin, but the bartender provided us with 1st class service. Thank You Candice! I can't wait for the next special occasion at Char! Cheers!

Very busy definitely get reservations! Great service and food and ambience. $35 corking fee. Focaccia bread was a bit disappointing, crust was soft. Make sure to ask for specials off menu... the zucchini flowers were amazing and off-menu... even if too much cheese for me. Escargot and tomahawk were perfection.

Had a great dinner for Father's Day here. The waitress for very attentive and made sure everything went well. I was worried the steak wouldn't be enough, since it didn't come with any sides (I ordered a side seperately) however, it was definitely worth it. Would absolutely go again.

The Wagyu steak at Char was great. Cooked to perfection, the marbling was exquisite, delivering a depth of taste that was simply unparalleled. The Wagyu steak alone is worth a visit to Char. Compliment the steak with a seafood tower and you will not be disappointed. Lastly, I must commend the staff at Char for their exceptional service. Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, they made us feel like valued guests from the moment we arrived. Their genuine warmth and professionalism added another layer of enjoyment to our evening.

If you’re looking for a classy restaurant then this is it! The ambiance, service and the food was phenomenal! Me and my fiancé celebrated our anniversary here and it’s the best decision! We ordered tomahawk steak and mashed potatoes and it was delicious, they also offer complimentary bread/pretzels. Would totally recommend!

This was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised, the food was great, delicious, and well seasoned. The fillet mignon was cooked perfectly. Staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back.

Lots of steak options at a fair price point. Entrees are a la carte. A few options for those who don't wish to dine on beef they have a couple of chicken dishes as well as seafood dishes but as stated in the name this is a steakhouse. Nice ambience as well as an outside seating area and a bar. Complimentary bread is served with butter, all desserts are made in house. Wait staff as well as hostesses were very attentive bathrooms were clean as well as restaurant was highly recommended that you make reservations. This is family owned which speaks volumes.
