Made a reservation for a romantic date and we were seated in the lounge area- nowhere to put a coat or purse, right next to the door. The atmosphere was nice, but much more casual than I thought it would be, based on the website, menu prices, and restaurant design. Our service was very slow, even though it wasn’t very busy- 20 mins to order, and our appetizers showed up before our drinks. My partner ordered a burger without cheese and it came with cheese on, and the waiter rang up my Filet Mignon twice. They were very accommodating about my Celiac Disease, which is excellent and very appreciated. The “This Side of Paradise” was a great cocktail, but not worth paying over $15 for. The deviled eggs were unique: heavy on the mustard/ maybe even with a little vinegar, so they were tart, but a great app! The filet was excellent, seasoned and cooked well, but served with some kind of barbecue sauce which was an interesting choice. My partner liked their burger, but didn’t think it was anything OUTRAGEOUSLY good. Overall, the food was good, but not worth the Beacon Hill prices. If you’re looking for standard American and cocktails, I suggest you go to Harvard Gardens on Cambridge Street- more affordable and better service.

Great vibe and food. Waking distance to public garden. We had it during the Boston restaurant week and the food of choice was satisfied.

Excellent place, service and food are outstanding. We had one of the best family dinners in a long time. Lindsey and Sebastian are there to make you feel special and they are absolutely amazing. One of my favorite places in Boston.

Hi I came in here for brunch with my gf and I was blown away. I started my meal off with the Maple Old Fashioned and it was perfect. I ordered the fresh toast and they were the most fluffy and delicious pieces of FT that have ever entered my mouth. We had the home fries as well and they were perfectly flavored and cooked. This is a normal guy review with normal pics. Nothing fancy. Meal and atmosphere was AMAZING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

A cozy French-inspired restaurant with great vibes and average food. We came here for dinner on a Friday night with a same day reservation. The place was half-full, and there seemed to be plenty of tables available for walk-ins. A lot of their menus were classic French dishes, and our favorites were the mushroom canapé, bolognese, and the moule frites. The filet mignon was unfortunately a bit of a downer as its texture felt more like a braised beef. Cacio E Pepe also tasted flat, and we had a hard time finishing the plate. While we weren’t impressed with the food overall, we liked the service and the atmosphere that reminded us of enjoying a home cooked meal. Definitely recommend going here for the vibes, but you might not be satisfied with the food.

This place is magical! Had a great evening last night with some work colleagues and this was my first visit to 1928 Beacon Hill! Katie, the new manager, was a dream! Since it wasn’t too crowded she gave us a full tour of the space and gave us amazing suggestions! Even the off menu drinks were FANTASTIC! This place is a hidden gem. The location is obscure but that just adds to the intimacy and speakeasy-like setting. We hadn’t got a chance to explore the full menu since we came after a dinner but the appetizers were amazing and the deserts were delectable. I’ve been searching for a new bar since one of my favorites closed from COVID-19 and this is high up on my list now. Wonderfully managed and carefully staffed! Would highly recommend and will absolutely be back myself! Thank you, Katie & 1928 Beacon Hill Staff!

Great looking intimate space. Some of the tables are in really bad spots. Went for brunch. It was their first weekend of brunch. Bloody Mary was just a bottled mix but the bartender said he was working on his own. Had the short rib hash. It was over cooked and mediocre. Maybe some growing pains or just mediocre. Didn’t take pictures of food or drinks, they weren’t worth taking pictures of. I’ll give them another try after they do a few more brunches. Bartender Pedro was the only redeeming part of the visit.

Wow! What a gem of a restaurant tucked away on a quiet street in Beacon Hill. We had the most wonderful meal at 1928. Our sever, Margarita, was fabulous. She was super attentive and so sweet! Dinner was 5-stars from start to finish. We started with cocktails (a paper plane and margarita), lobster bisque and crab cakes. All of which we enjoyed very much. For entrées, I had the lobster tortellini and my fiancé had the short rib. I LOVED the lobster tortellini and would absolutely come back just for that! The vibe inside 1928 is chic and romantic — the perfect spot for a date night. We will definitely be back for another!

The ambiance at this almost secret restaurant, tucked among the homes of Beacon Hill is fantastic. We had a couple of very good cocktails shared some appetizers. The menu wasn't too exciting, but the deviled eggs were spectacular. Unfortunately the spinach & artichoke dip was under-seasoned. The chocolate cake is delicious and shouldn't be skipped if you can afford the calories. The service was nice but when I came in after my party had been seated the hostess just pointed me in their general direction. I would go again.

1928 Beacon Hill is a super cute, very old Boston style restaurant right by Charles Street. The interior is beautiful with dark wood, little decor pieces and the glasses and silverware march that style. The menu is a bit standard „American“ but everything tastes fresh yet could do with more seasoning. Our server was a bit slow given we were a bigger group, so could see some room of improvement. When you go, recommending to share more of the starters, definitely more highlights to find there!

Expensive and not super worth it. The drinks were tasty, but the food was over salted. The waitress also forgot to bring out the bacon and sausage that we ordered at first. Probably would find somewhere else to spend $100 at a quick brunch

Great atmosphere, there is really no other place like this in the city. The service was amazing, food delicious and the cocktails were so well crafted. The steak frites melted in my mouth!! The kind of meal you would travel for. The staff was so friendly and accommodating I can NOT wait to go back!! They definitely created an experience.

Tucked in Boston’s Beacon Hill, 1928 is outstanding in both its cuisine and atmosphere. We visited in March 2023 for a Wine Dinner with Gerard Bertrand, and the experience was phenomenal. The food was thoughtfully paired with each wine, and service could not have been better!

My recent dining experience at 1928 Beacon Hill Restaurant in Boston was a mix of delights and room for growth. The culinary journey started with a tantalizing octopus starter that showcased a mastery of flavors and textures. The main course, a steak cooked to medium rare perfection, was the highlight of the meal, offering a succulent and satisfying experience. The journey concluded with a classic tiramisu that delivered the perfect balance of sweetness and coffee-infused indulgence. While the food was impeccable, there were areas where the experience could have been enhanced. The ambience, although pleasant, could benefit from a touch of refinement to create a more inviting and cozy setting that complements the culinary excellence. Additionally, the speed of service left something to be desired, as a more attentive and prompt service could elevate the overall dining experience. To further improve, the restaurant could focus on refining the ambience to evoke a sense of warmth and elegance that aligns with the quality of the cuisine. Strengthening the pace of service, without compromising the attention to detail, would help diners fully immerse themselves in the culinary journey. Despite these areas for growth, 1928 Beacon Hill Restaurant stands out for its remarkable culinary offerings, making it a destination worthy of consideration for those seeking a memorable dining experience.

Great food and seating. Very slow service. I came by the restaurant several minutes after opening time for dinner and waited 10 minutes for a seat. The place was empty. The 1928 Waldorf Salad had no walnuts and I asked the server for them which he brought promptly. The salmon in parchment paper was perfectly prepared. The octopus was amazing. Beautiful ambience. Place was formerly Lala Rokh, which was my goto restaurant.

I wanted to love this place. The ambiance is unique and cozy. However, the food came up short. We started with the coconut shrimp which was my favorite dish we had. We had grilled octopus which was bland and not the quality I would have expected. The stuffed sole was average . Overall the service was above average and the ambiance makes this a four for me.
