Great that The Sool Gallery is relocated to Bukchon area, easily accessible from Anguk Station (Line 3, Exit 2). Sool (sul) in Korean, is sort of a term for traditional liquor. Sool Gallery, is government MAFRA initiative to promote traditional liquor by local producers to both locals and tourists. The gallery displays a large showcase of Korea Sool makers. It conducts daily guided English tour and registration details are on their instagram. Take note the gallery closes on Monday. During the tour, the guide explains the ingredients and distillation processes of making 4 types of liquors: makgeolli (takju), yakju, soju and gwasilju. Also the different type of liquors made in different seasons. After the short tour of about 20mins, a complimentary tasting session of 4 selected liquors which were chosen monthly. It is a good place for both locals and tourists to be exposed to sools and also to sample them. Some featured brands are available for sale, close to wholesale prices! The gallery could also advise on touring Korea Sools producers in different regions. Worth a visit if you are into Hansik and sool, but ensure you go after some food.

It was a pleasant experience. I was able to taste the various traditional liquors even more deliciously because they were accompanied by interesting explanations. The tasting drink of the month can be purchased at a cheaper price. I hope it continues to thrive in the future♡

If you are visiting Korea, try to book their program while staying Seoul. Free for the little tour and 5 different types of traditional Korean drinks for tasting. Cool spot for locals as well.

Always fun to do free activities especially if you get some free alcohol hahaha. The tasting was was nice and informative and the staff friendly. We were a few minutes late but they still let us join the tasting and we even got to taste the first bottle we missed out on. We left with a couple of bottles

I had a liquor making workshop here, and we made makgeolli, just the most simple and easy liquor. The people there are nice and very foreigner friendly, so you can visit just to learn more about korean food and alcohol. Seems like we can also buy alcohol here and even ask for recommendation because there are korean liquor experts (kind of like sommelier)

This place is great 👏 I've been shopping here for a long time. There are people who can speak Chinese to help us explain the specialty wines of Korea's main production areas, national treasure wines, and special cultural treasures. The gift department sells wine (you cannot drink it on the spot). There is a traditional teahouse where you can drink tea and eat desserts. There is a Korean Food Culture Promotion Center, library, museum, and Korean Liquor Promotion Center at the back (you can pay for tasting tours), and the toilets are very clean.

Heavily recommend emailing them to make a reservation for the English session, it's free but they have limited space. Arrive early and get a lesson/tour of Korean cuisine before heading further into the building to get to the Sool Gallery. They provided 5 different alcohols divided into three categories, cloudy/clear/hard (this was some really heavy paint thinner tasting booze @40%), for us to try. It's a rotating selection but I'm not sure the frequency it is changed, we had second place winners...but I don't recall for what. The guide was really sweet and she gave us some explanation on where the beverages were from, what they were made of, and some why.

You can learn here about traditional Korean food and beverages (it's also possible to buy different types of drinks and foods to take home as gifts for friends and family). We stopped by to enjoy a sweet potato latte. It was very good. Highly recommended.

One of the best places I went to while in Gangnam; free traditional alcohol tasting and a shop too. Upstairs there is also a place where you can get traditional Korean tea

We went here with a Korean friend and we had a great experience. A really nice girl explained to us in English how the drinks are made and we had a free tasting afterwards. I also took advantage and bought a couple of bottles to bring back home as gifts. I highly recommend this place but if you speak English schedule a tour in advance. They don't offer English tours everyday.
