historical old palace on the outer parts of Seoul. it is absolutely beautiful in the fall when the leaves change colour!!

Historic fortress that dates back through the heydays and struggles of multiple dynasties that stepped on Seoul soil at one point or another. The path along the fortress rim wall is very well maintained and genuinely lovely and meaningful for a casual weekend hike.

Historical palace. Very well preserved.

The palace sits atop a flat-topped hill with great views of the surrounding terrain. Although the buildings in the palace aren't particularly impressive compared to the palaces of Seoul and other sites throughout Korea, there is a lot of cool history in this place. Although the palace is great, the real attraction here (in my opinion) is the views you get walking along the walls. Getting here by public transportation isn't the easiest, but it is certainly doable. Definitely worth seeing

Namhansangseong is one of the most visited world heritage sites in Korea. During the group tour we had the chance to wear traditional scholar costumes. If you want to join free group tours in world heritage sites, you may visit fbpage of Joyful Heritage Cities in Korea. Luckily the weather was not too hot when we visited on a summer. I recommend you go hiking on four distinct seasons. No entrance fee to hike.

I absolutely love this place ! I went on a weekday in the afternoon and there is no people at all. The whole palace is yours to explore. I even followed the path up the hill to the fortress surrounding the palace. The sunset is so so beautiful.

Peaceful & Beautiful place for sightseeing & relaxation. UNESCO world curtural heritage.

It is a famous historical site in eastern Gyeonggi-do. The muddy roads were so beautiful. But if you don't use public transportation, it can be difficult to park, so I recommend visiting early in the morning.

A Unesco world heritage site where you can see historical fortifications and traditional houses.

Traditional Korean site

From Myeondong you need to take a subway & change a bus to go to this huge scenic mountainous park ... Less than an hour to get there, but the park is huge. To walk round the section as told by the lady at the information centre is 3.8km. However do note that this is not flat ground 3.8km, quite a bit of a climb, so do factor in more time and bring drinking water. We went to the Emergency Palace & Western Command Post. Well worth the trip!

Historic place to enjoy the Chosun dynasty

Namhansanseong is located near the Suseo SRT station. It is a beautiful fortress/ palace on top of the mountain it is named after. There is an awesome walking trail along the walls of the fortress, as well as Command Posts, shrines and even old artillery.

Really cool mini-version of Changgyeonggung Palace in central Seoul. This palace was used as an emergency fortress in case of national emergency so the king could flee here. It has the same architecture as Changgyeonggung but it's on the top of a mountain so it also has great views of Seoul. I recommend taking the bus to the top of the mountain, hiking up from the bottom isn't worth it. It's just a lot of stairs. Once you get dropped off at the palace, you can do a 1.5 km hike up to Sueojangdae Outpost which has cool history. From there, there are nice views of Seoul from the fortress walls.

Well restored a historical fortress from written documentations and over 100 years old photographs. Much to learn from ill fated struggle against Qing not being prepared due to internal political feud not knowing world affairs.

Amazing views and calmness; one MUST read about the history of this palace before visiting it!

This place is so close to seoul and easy to access by car and bus, a lot of place to enjoy food and good view of seoul city. And even fesh air, finally this place is historically important.
