This island is named after a European who surveyed land in the area in the late 19th century. The beach area is clean and beautiful. The walking trail goes through a stretch of mangrove jungle accessed by crossing a small bamboo bridge. You can see different type of trees such as gora, kankru, palm, sundari, hetal etc. A must-visit place.

Very nice visit for family, for school or college friends. I was studying at IIT Kharagpur at that time in around 2018. We were a group of 6-8 friend from campus. The most wonderful and mostly peaceful and solitary beach in West Bengal in my eyes . Perfect visit time is early morning or afternoon. You can find no people in this sight for a mile.Local people are very helpful. Sunrise and sunset of this beach is very beauty.

A beautiful white sand beach. This beach is very quiet and peaceful. The entry to the beach is controlled by the Fisheries department. They charge Rs 10 per person and Rs 20 for vehicles. From the entry gate to the parking area is approx 2km and the road is very bad and narrow. The parking is free. There is a toilet in the parking area. The beach is wonderful though. You will have to walk for 500m from the parking through mangeove forest and a wooden pole.

Pristine beach, wooden bridges and cobbled road made through mangroves lead to the beach. Avoid summer, winter is the best time to be there. Please remember this place has fixed timing. Friends going by their own vehicle please don’t fall prey to advice of hotel employees, toto and local car drivers. They will warn you about very narrow roads and no parking space if you try to go by your own car. Yes, the road leading to this place is narrow but have enough space for two cars to pass and there is a sizeable parking lot very near to the beach (it’s kind of 5 mins walk from the parking lot to the beach)

Quiet, peaceful virgin beach. Best for a quick weekend getaway from Kolkata. Takes around 5 to 6 hours to reach from the city (around 1.5 hours because of the ferry). It's a wonderful beach located in Bakkhali. There is a big complex of lodges in Henry island developed and maintained by Fisheries department of Government of West Bengal. One has to walk on raised paved road for about 300mtrs from the vehicle parking point through mangrove forest to reach the beach. The sand in beaches of these areas are very fine and it looks almost like dust. One can go to this beach upto 4pm. The beach is closed from 4:30pm.
