A highlight to any trip to Arniston is visiting the Waenhuiskrans Cave, which is only accessible at low tide. After a short walk, some rock jumping and cliff hugging included, you'll arrive at the small opening beneath the rocky overhang that leads to the Cave. Once inside, the sheer size of the Cave is the thing that most surprises. So big in fact that in theory, a wagon and full span of oxen can turn around inside (hence the name). From inside the Cave the views out over the ocean is also quite incredible.

A desolate beach not far from the Southernmost point of Africa at Agulhas. Popular with beach anglers, especially when it is cold and windy. A nice walk from the picturesque little fishing village with two names called Arniston/Waenhuiskrans There are well maintained “visfywers” at Die Baken where fish are still trapped at low tide.

Special place for special walks. Great for the mind, body and soul being on Otters. Daily walks and great bird life to watch and hear. If you’re a fishing person, it’s also great for this off the beach. ***Not a swimming beach at all***

Very beautiful and clean beach. Children have lots of fun, swimming, diving, surfing. We also got stuck in the sand on the 4x4 road to the tower and had to deflate the tyres. Overall we had a fantastic day there.

Well sad to say the cave at this beach in Arniston "caved in" in Nov 2019 so no more cave! However all the signage is still up but once down at the beach just a broken off rock to show where this iconic sighseeing spot used to be. Such a pity...
