We had a fantastic experience with our tour guide, Justin. He was super amazing. His knowledge about the cuisine, culture, architecture and infrastructure was amazing. It was so much fun, way more than we had anticipated. We also enjoyed the fact that they made sure we had a customized experience, and they were so sweet to make it a special couple experience. They went over and beyond our expectations! Keep up the great work!

Justin was amazing! This tour far exceeded my family’s expectations. Justin was very kind, thoughtful, and friendly. He did a great job showing us around Cape Town on our first day in the city. He is very knowledgeable about South Africa’s history, food scene, and ecology, and we all learned a lot from his stories. He even taught us about the edible plants that grow around the city. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to have a fun couple of hours walking around Cape Town enjoying much delicious food and drink and great conversation.

Good day Cape Town Culinary Tour! What a surprise!!! This is a tour that everyone must have on their bucket list when in Cape Town, oh yes. Justin (our guide) is a biblioteca and very knowledgeable and confident all around Cape Town. I like little details like how to cross the street even though Justin taught us. Welldone Cape Town Culinary Tour and please keep up a good job. Highly recommended and thank you. Much appreciated.

Fabulous time with Justin! Plenty of food and fun. Our group of four did the Essentials Tour and only wish we had more time in the area to try the coffee tour as well. Book it, you’ll have a blast and a full belly!

My wife and I can not recommend this food tour enough. We were pleasantly surprised at every turn. Justin, our guide, was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and entertaining. We were taken to local places that the guide had personal experience with. We sampled the local cuisine in a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. The tour was able to accommodate my wife’s vegetarian dietary restrictions. The culture and history were provided to add context to the food and area. He was able to answer all our questions with great detail. It felt more like a conversation than a one-sided lecture, which we really appreciated. We opted for the alcoholic version and were given a tasting of some of the local wines, beers, and gins of the area. All the food was delicious. Justin provided a recap of all the locations and further recommendations. I would not change anything about the tour. The next time we are in Cape Town, we will not hesitate to call Cape Town Culinary Tours again.

As a travel agent you always worry that your clients will not have a good experience. This was a gift to my clients and an unknown. Worry not! They took the Cape Town Essentials Tour and loved it. Special dietary restrictions were needed and posed no problem on this wonderful tour. My clients enjoyed every minute of the experience. They raved about their tour guide Justin. He was friendly, informative and made the experience fun and exciting. I highly recommend this company for your clients or yourselves. You will not be disappointed. It is an outstanding way to begin a vacation in Cape Town. Don't miss it!!! Fran Nolan Cruise Holidays of Woodinville

Cape Town Culinary Tours provide an amazing way to explore the culinary delights of this wonderful city of Cape Town! Elsje guided my husband of the Cape Town Coffee Experience, a 3 hour tour, and then 2 days later the both of us on The Cape Town Essentials Tour, a 4 hour visit to sample the culinary delights of Cape Town, both food-wise and drink-wise. Both tours are highly recommended - through food and drink you explore and learn about the fascinating cultural traditions of the Mother City, and Elsje brings everything to life with her enthusiasm and incredible in-depth knowledge of the history and heritage that this part of the Western Cape has to offer. So glad we did these yours and I would encourage anyone to do the same!

I recently joined the Cape Town Essentials Tour and absolutely loved the experience! The tour included 4 stops and each was accompanied by a delicious food and drink tasting. It was difficult to choose a favourite as each stop has something completely unique and different to offer. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and I learnt a lot about the history of the city and origins of all the tastes we got to savor along the way.

Took this tour with my parents and had an absolutely fantastic time. Marianne was friendly, energetic, so so knowledgeable and went way above and beyond including sending us a follow up email with tons of thoughtful suggestions for the rest of our trip. A great mix of history, culture, and SO much food representing the diversity of Cape Town. Highly recommend doing this at the start of your visit.

My wife and I have been on many food tours throughout the world. We enjoy the local experience & exploring new cities through and with the lens of a local. Justin gave us an awesome experience, visiting many local cafes & restaurants featuring tons of local African food. If you're looking for a food tour, look no further. Justin is a wealth of knowledge, very kind, and is a food expert. With an intimate group (only 6 total in our tour), you get plenty of first hand experiences. MUST DO IN CAPE TOWN!

Our guide, Justin, was excellent. He was knowledgeable, friendly and personable. His tour was nicely paced and he was considerate of all the people on the tour, answering every question posed to him. Justin has a lovely sense of humour too. My wife and I were so happy with our choice to do this tour and thoroughly recommend it as a way of learning about Cape Town, South African culture and its food and language.

The information ahead and follow up from the company and the guide after the tour was timely and as promised (in contrast to other providers we used during our stay). Our guide, Marianne, was excellent! She was very fun and had great knowledge about all locations we visited and answers to all our questions. We would recommend everyone who’s new to Cape Town to do this trip to get to know the city a little and get an intro to the food culture. You also get a lot of tips for great restaurant and things to do during the rest of your stay.

My husband and I were fortunate to tour with Justin yesterday – the tour was fun, informative, and Justin was a wonderful host! He has so much knowledge about the food, culture and history of Cape Town, as well as South Africa. The food was delicious! It was a pleasure to have met him and spend the afternoon. In fact, we are going to book another tour with him when we return from our cruise in 12 days! We highly recommend Cape Town culinary food tours!

Extraordinary Taste of Africa tour with Justin! Justin was an excellent guide, not just to the food (which was great), but to all aspects of South African history and the geography and natural history of the Cape. We packed a lot into our few hours and left quite happy. Would highly recommend to anyone.

We had a private tour with Justin and had a really great time. He made sure to cater the tour to our personal taste which we really appreciated. We could also tell that Justin is very knowledgeable and passionate about the food and history of the city and was happy to answer all of our questions. Regarding the food, we loved everything we tasted and can t wait to go back for more! The only thing that could maybe be improved is the portion sizes. For the price, we would have appreciated more food and maybe less drinks. But that might be a personal preference :) Overall we had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend the tour to others. Thanks Justin for taking us around!

Our tour guide Justin was fantastic! He had an excellent amount of knowledge regarding the history and culture of Cape Town, and the food was delicious. We started with gourmet coffees, then stunning Cape Malay dishes, local beers and snacks, guns and ice creams. Highly recommended 😂

We had a wonderful time on the Food Safari with Elsje! She was a wonderful guide and it felt like hanging out with a great friend. Every stop was interesting and delicious. We were glad we took the tour at the beginning of our trip to Cape Town because then we had the chance to return to our favorite stop for dinner another night before we left.

Wow! Absolutely the best food tour we've ever made - and we made a lot all over the world. Great locations and Elsje is such a nice person. We learned so much and at the same time it felt like going out with friends. We can highly recommend this tour and appreciate every minute of it.

Cape Town Culinary Tours provides a wonderful experience of guided walking tours around the CBD of Cape Town. Justin, one of the tour guides, was amazing at providing historical and contextual insights to accompany the delicious food on offer on the Food Safari. This made the tour much more than just another tasting, but a learning and cultural experience as well. Highlights include hidden gems in the city center including a Tanzanian restaurant that is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the belly and a Senegalese coffee demonstration that overlooks one of Cape Towns bustling streets from above, offering great city views as well.

We loved our afternoon with Elsje! We ate delicious food and went to places we would never visit. Elsje also has lots of knowledge on the history of Cape Town and sights we saw along the way. What a great way to see more of the Mother city and learn more about other foods that aren't on our daily menu! Oh yes, and the wine at Open Wine was fantastic. Thanks Elsje!

On a rainy day in Cape Town, my elderly mother and I participated in Cape Town Culinary Tours’ Cape Town Coffee Experience. Despite the fairly chilly weather and wet environs, we had a great time. As with most things, the tone for this tour was set by the positive attitude of our guide, Elsje Erasmus. Elsje, who is the company’s Founder as well as Tour Director, greeted us with a smile and ensured that all participants were happy and comfortable. Though all COVID accommodations and requirements were met, Elsje ensured that the social aspect of the tour was not dampened. She also ensured that the walking tour accommodated my mother’s slower pace in such a way that was not to the detriment of the group, at large. Elsje’s love of coffee and subject matter expertise was evident in not only the information and lessons she conveyed, but also in her selection of venues. Each location was staffed with professionals who were passionate about coffee and about sharing coffee’s secrets with other like-minded novices. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about coffee while meeting new people and seeing some of the “street sites” of Cape Town.

It was fantastic. We highly recommend you to spend an afternoon with Eljse. She is very friendly & knows very well her town, the african culture & history. Food was delicious & you get the chance to enjoy the story of each dish. We loved it.
