On
a
rainy
day
in
Cape
Town,
my
elderly
mother
and
I
participated
in
Cape
Town
Culinary
Tours’
Cape
Town
Coffee
Experience.
Despite
the
fairly
chilly
weather
and
wet
environs,
we
had
a
great
time.
As
with
most
things,
the
tone
for
this
tour
was
set
by
the
positive
attitude
of
our
guide,
Elsje
Erasmus.
Elsje,
who
is
the
company’s
Founder
as
well
as
Tour
Director,
greeted
us
with
a
smile
and
ensured
that
all
participants
were
happy
and
comfortable.
Though
all
COVID
accommodations
and
requirements
were
met,
Elsje
ensured
that
the
social
aspect
of
the
tour
was
not
dampened.
She
also
ensured
that
the
walking
tour
accommodated
my
mother’s
slower
pace
in
such
a
way
that
was
not
to
the
detriment
of
the
group,
at
large.
Elsje’s
love
of
coffee
and
subject
matter
expertise
was
evident
in
not
only
the
information
and
lessons
she
conveyed,
but
also
in
her
selection
of
venues.
Each
location
was
staffed
with
professionals
who
were
passionate
about
coffee
and
about
sharing
coffee’s
secrets
with
other
like-minded
novices.
I
would
recommend
this
to
anyone
who
wants
to
learn
about
coffee
while
meeting
new
people
and
seeing
some
of
the
“street
sites”
of
Cape
Town.
