Beautiful park for those who enjoy creative spaces and Art in general. A good way to spend a day with loved ones. Recommended for couples, young families or group of friends. Opened weekends only, from 1000hrs to 1600hrs. It's a lovely drive to the place. Recommend booking the restaurant in advance, reduces your entry fee by half. Take note that they are often fully booked, so reserve early. Full price is 140 PP or 70 PP with reservation. The cafe in there is good too, they have good light food selection vegan and halal options available during my visit. Picnics allowed if the park restaurant caters. Not sure of the prices, call to confirm. PS, Considering this place for my next gathering away from the city. Enjoy!

Absolutely stunning place. Well maintained and super clean. Entrance to the place is R120 per person. Some parts of the park are restricted so you won't get to see the rest of the place. No food is allowed into the park. No picnics are allowed. There is a restaurant there and in order to get a table and be served food you have to make a book, otherwise you can just have a drink and tapas. I feel like the information about making a booking at the restaurant is very important but you only find out about it when you make a payment to enter the park. The place is beautiful and worth a visit. Just be ready when you go there.

Visited this sculpture park since i had a booking at the "and then there was fire" restaurant which is located inside the park. Paid R240 for 2 adults and 1 child which is a ridiculous amount of money especially for what you get to do and see once you are inside the park. The artwork is nothing to write home about to be honest, perhaps i'm not artsy enough but none of the artwork moved me. The park is quite spacious but we were done walking the entire park in just over an hour, the park is full of ponds and dams and the water in every single one of those ponds and dams is really really smelly, not sure why i don't see more reviews mentioning the smelly water all over the park. The water smells like toxic waste from some plant or factory, complete turn off when ur supposed to be in a "peaceful & tranquil" natural environment. Safe to say we are never returning here again

A truly majestic place to behold. Entry fee to the park is R120. There's a restaurant and you can host a function or party. The park is vast and clean. A wonderful place to visit.

R140 entrance fee. Open 10am to 4pm. Very disappointed that picnicking is not allowed in the park as it is such a beautiful setting, but that is understandable because people will always litter and it would be very difficult to keep such a large space so pristine. The restaurant is by reservation only. The cafe is lovely but has a very limited offering of 2 types of sandwiches, 3 types of pastries, coffee, tea, beer and 3 types of wine (only one of which was available on the day). I don't know anything about art, so the sculptures were not very intriguing to me, but the original art - nature - is showcased in all its beauty here. #greenspace.

I love the greenery and seeing this much green just a stone throw away from the city was a dream. A well maintained lawn. Amazing art pieces placed throughout area. Restaurant and other chilling space. It's a space to be experienced words can never be enough.

So tranquil and magical. It's like being transported into some kind of fairytale. The best 'green bath' ever. Just gorgeous nature all around you, outshines the art for sure, but all the same - wonderful creations. Take a book, a notepad, someone you need to have a long conversation with

We have known about Nirox for a long time, and were looking forward to our first visit today. The park was beautiful, but the water in the dams was clearly polluted and smelt terrible. It really ruined our experience, and we would've spent more time there if it wasn't for this problem. The cover charge of R150 was steep for what the park is, and that we weren't allowed to bring in our own bottled water was a bit of a head turner, considering the state of the water in the dams. Very underwhelming unfortunately. The few sculptures we saw were cool, but we expected more. We probably will not be rushing back any time soon, and it's a shame.

Very tranquil...it's an experience worth every moment. I would advise one to arrive early in order to experience the entire park fully. The sculptures are nothing short of amazing...beautiful beautiful work. The food is amazing too

A well maintained park with beautiful sculptures. It's worth visiting, the art meets nature. There's a restaurant and reservations to the restaurant is essential otherwise There's also a Cafe where you can buy something to drink. It's essential to carry your drink as you walk through the park as it can get very hot. You can buy the tickets online or pay at the entrance to get access.

What a most beautiful and serene setting in the Cradle of Humankind. Such beauty abounds, the trees of every variety, the running waters, the perfect sunsets, the luscious grass to walk on, the most beautiful sculptures and an amazing restaurant to round of a 5 star 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 experience. Anyone visiting Johannesburg, South Africa 🇿🇦, please do yourself a favour and get here - soonest!! 👍 👍 Well done to the NIROX Team

An epitome of tranquillity at it's best. Beautiful greenery everywhere, I genuinely wish they could be more sculptures in the park and the conceptualization of the work by the curators/sculptors. The restaurant, which seems to the attraction, is magnificent, beautiful and very open. The integration of the art space and the the restaurant is genius. Great hospitality!

Beautiful gardens of lush green grass and trees with beautiful ponds. We had a wonderful peaceful few hours in the gardens exploring the art. There is a lovely restaurant which we did not eat at, but were assured was fabulous. You need to book at "And then there was fire" No food or drinks were allowed into the park.

It's definitely a must visit place if you love art, nature, and sculptures. Ideal place for couples, family, and friends. There's an entrance fee of R140, but if you reserve a table with the restaurant, then you'll only pay R70 for entry.

If you're considering it - definitely go. It's quiet and absolutely stunning. There's a lil coffee and cake deck away from the restaurant, which served gin and a very moist carrot cake 🥧 Ask where the loo's are upon entering and note that there's a different entry fee for those who've booked at the restaurant

The park in Cradle valley is a tranquil escape of green. There are but a few sculptures in the park randomly placed between ponds, trees and fresh cut lawns. There are a couple of small waterfall scattered between the transitions of the pond. The entrance fee to the park is quite high if considering the number and quality of sculptures in the park. No food or drinks not even water is allowed into the park and you are obligated to go to the restaurant.

Nice place for an interesting walk, the statues and artwork are a bit more sparse than I would've guessed but it's still nice. Entrance is a bit steep truthfully, especially considering you can't bring any food/water in.

A very beautiful place not so far from Johannesburg. Definitely worth the drive. Well maintained lawns with lots of walking to do and art pieces to see. Don't rob yourself of the beautiful scenery. The place is big. If you're planning to have a picnic, note that own food is not allowed here. We were only allowed to buy baguettes and drinks from the restaurant. The restaurant requires pre booking. There's a different entry fee for people who have booked the restaurant and those coming just to the park.

A great idea for a Sunday afternoon stroll. You can grab a snack and a take away coffee at the tappas section of the restaurant and take it with you on your walk around Nirox. It’s R120pp. The sculptures were awesome ! Only downfall is that there aren’t any rationales, so we didn’t really understand any of the meaning behind the artwork, would have been cool to read about it. Other wise - awesome experience, definitely taking art to a new level.

Heavenly! If picnics were allowed then it would be the best park ever in the Gauteng Province. Notwithstanding, it is a very worthy park to experience multiple times. The art is super deep and complex. There are no descriptions or notes accompanying the art. The lawns and all the walkways are made for walking, even in the rain. Multiple streams/furrows that form several lakes around the park and sculptures. There is a restaurant called 'And then there was fire' 🔥Very worthy of a visit, but you need to make a reservation. Take very good care of the vehicle entrance ticket they give you at the gate!

I was actually visiting the restaurant (And then there was fire), but from there we had access to the park. Beautiful views. What I loved the most was the art (which looked like it was done by kids - I could be wrong though), as well as the tree with notes hanging. It was interesting to read what people had written. Beautiful place.

With the restaurant fully booked we settled for a walk in the park instead. It was beautiful and calm, loved the trees , the sculptures are few and far in-between and was disappointed that there wasn't much art to see The water which is all around the park has a strong putrid smell that was extremely unpleasant

Stunning place, spent a morning with the family in the beautiful hot sun. Bottled water is not allowed into the facility and after a little while it got hot. Restaurant is strictly bookings only so you can't even get water from there without a reservation. Honestly think that with the pricey entrance fee they could at least allow water or a place to buy water. A family of 4 costs over R300 just to enter. Now for the positives...the place was beautiful and we'll maintained when we got there. Sculptures line the hills and rivers and the landscape is stunning. Artists really did a fantastic job. Maybe a few more explanations of what the scriptures were about would be nice. Great morning anyway and not far from JHB.

Very beautiful park. Amazing sculptures and park layout and design. However, food and water not allowed in the park. If you need these you will have to go to their restaurant. You need to make a booking to go to the restaurant though. Park entrance fee is less if you have a resturant booking.

Make a day of it. I suggest going in summer as the lawns are green and inviting. You can get some small meals at the coffee shop, you don't have to eat at the main restaurant which can be pricey for what you get all be it good quality. I would give it five stars if they allowed you to take your own water bottle. The gardens are more of an attraction than the sculptures.

  • 5/5 Mzo H. 2 years ago on Google
Art meets nature in the best way possible. It's like an outdoor art gallery. The works of art are amazing and the place well kept . I would suggest you start at the restaurant and get some water or a beverage before you start roaming as you can get lost in the lovely place and get really thirsty on a hot day and you are not allowed to bring any food or drink into the park .

This is easily one of my top 5 favorite places to visit I found this hidden gem while looking for a place to have a little getaway along with lush green views and you did not disappoint (the incredible art and Cafe was an unexpected extra) Upon arrival, you're greeted with a wide landscape of beautiful dandelions which is the perfect photo opportunity for anyone. Once you're in you get to go on the most breathtaking journey from beginning to end. We even got a chance to put our feet up and enjoy the Cafe however the food wasn't as great as we had hoped but everything else in the park is well maintained and taken care of. The river isn't much to look at and you will be fighting off a lot of bugs but it's still definitely worth the trip. We, unfortunately, didn't get to try the restaurant but that is a must-do on our next visit

I phoned the cell number available on the website to enquire on fees as I have never been to Nirox, the person is rude unfriendly un professional. He told me to go look at a website and told me the entrance fee for adults R120 and kids R60 and you not allowed to bring your own food you must eat at the restaurant on the premises. Insane prices to enter plus go eat at their restaurant Na cant be interested to pay for that prices especially if the owner or whoever this dude is was so rude on the phone

Entrance a bit expensive but worth it. Restaurant atrocious. R80 for a bottle of R750 ml sparkling water. What the f?????? We are not all tourists. As u are not allowed to bring in food or drink at all. I'm smelling a rip off. Food itself pretentious and over priced. Did taste nice though

Beautiful place, but disappointed that that they don't allow even water in this hot weather, their one restaurant was fully booked. I was with kids and they were hungry, what's worse is that my 14 year old is diabetic he can't go on for long without eating or snacking, all we were offered was drinks, we had to leave very early.

The Nirox Sculpture Park offers a captivating blend of thought-provoking art, refreshing natural surroundings, and an incredible dining experience. The sculptures provoke deep contemplation, while the serene walk amidst nature is both rejuvenating and awe-inspiring. The restaurant is vibrant, full of life, and serves amazing meals, complemented by outstanding service from Tiny, our attentive waiter. A visit to Nirox Sculpture Park is a memorable journey that nourishes the mind, body, and soul.

Its a very nice place unfortunately for us we couldn't get inside cause of the communication I had on Instagram said we shouldn't bring food they have a restaurant, when we got to the entrance, said the restaurant has not been working for some time, we had to reserve before even, we had our chairs thinking we will chill at the park after but thought we should get something to eat which we drove (17 minutes) to Cradlestone Mall, then there was no time to go back. Otherwise the Villa-Legodi has beautiful sculptures and books.

It was a wonderful experience to visit the sculpture park! It is beautifully kept and very clean. It is absolutely amazing to see all the art in nature and to become almost mesmerised by it. What would be nice is a map with directions to each sculpture and also the name of the artist and artwork. I looked up some of them online and they have such interesting stories. The restaurant is booked up well in advance, but there is another cafe to sit down and take a break. Nirox is a MUST!

The experience was less rewarding, as the park needs a proper cleanup. The restaurant is a no-no, it is managed by the owner of the restaurant and she little to zero customer service experience, he really need to get someone else in to run the eatery otherwise it is set for a desaster.

What should have been a great day out turned out to be one of the worst in December. The park is nice to walk through and the gardens fairly well kept. Unfortunately there are hardly anything to guide you around or give you an idea of what the sculptures are or where to go. We would follow a path only to be met with regular signs telling you that you are entering private property. Some of the sculptures are quite poorly maintained as well and this was a bit of a let down. The worst part by far was the terrible way we were treated when we dared to go to the restaurant. I completely understand the restaurant is separate from the park but as a visitor this does not matter as I expect the same experience. We were very rudely "chased" away by the owners girlfriend who was completely overwhelmed by a booking, which at the time we were there was nowhere to be seen. When we were told we could not get anything to eat we asked if we could at least get a drink as it was hot and we were thirsty, this also became an issue but she eventually instructed the staff to get us an orange juice. We did question why another table was able to get food and drinks and was told it was an exception..not sure why she couldn't do that for us maybe because we were a gay couple? All in all I think Nirox has potential but I would not based on our experience recommend it to anyone especially considering the high ticket price and complete lack of service ftom the so called restaurant.

This place is beautiful and peaceful! If you're a fan of art, you would really love visiting this place. I'm not sure if this is a spot where you can go and picnic, I haven't really seen anyone doing that. My only critique, is that entrance fee is way too expensive! We decided to go there spontaneously, but never expected to pay R150.00 per person.
