This visit was such a treat from beginning to end. We were spoiled with good food, lovely rooms and we saw a lot of animals on our game drives, including lions and hippos. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful place!

An absolute gem. From planning our trip, to our arrival, and our departure, the staff treated us like royalty. The rooms and kitchen and dining area, as well as splash pools are superb with attention to all the detail, we lacked nothing for our self-catering vacation. The game drives were out of this world and Ian has an outstanding eye for the big and small things of the veld, with fantastic knowledge eager to share. We highly recommend Machaton Camp for a Timbavati holiday!

Nicole, stiff, amen and Thompson were really exceptional and made are stay very special. In every detail they would impress us on how thoughtful and how caring they could be. Every single moment you feel like you are at home and that is one of the benefits of being in a boutique lodge, the experience. Game drives were excellent, got to see the big five on first day and Nicole was amazing on explaining everything with vast knowledge. Animals freely walk within the lodge so you will definitely see some in your porch. Stiff our tracker was such an example of hard and profissional work and found us several rare animals. Amen and Thompson made our stay very special, private dinners and lunch on my birthday, food is to die for. Nicole truly went above and beyond for my special proposal and it will be a moment I will never forget. Thank you for everyone at Machaton camp for this unique experience.

There is no words to described the fantastic time I spent at Machaton Timbavati. I wanted to cry the day we departed. Not only did we see the big 5, so much more wildlife and birds was seen all the time, even from our stoep that had its own little "swimming pool" . Staff was excellent.

A really pleasant small lodge. The team is very greatfull. Nicole is an interesting and sympathic guide; with her and Stiff an excellent tracker, we discover a lot of animals (Big and small). The meals were excellent (thanks a lot, Thompson), Amen was a charming Butler. Thanks to everyone who make our stay very nice. We hope, we' ll come back one day.

The camp and all facilities are top notch, very luxurious. The personnel were so efficient,keeping everything clean.Our guide Rushanne is top qualified and her knowledge of all birds was superb.We had wonderful multiple sightings of lion and leopard.

This was our first safari, so I can't compare to other camps, but we really loved Machaton. The views from the dining area were fantastic. We saw a giraffe and elephant while sitting at camp. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we saw animals almost continuously on each trip (we did 4). My only complaint is that our hot water was sporadic, making a hot shower impossible, but we told them about the issue, so I expect it not to be a concern. The service was exceptional also. The rooms were cleaned and prepared for us after every outing. I can't wait to come back.
