I'm so happy that they moved to the Cape. It is the best aquarium store you will find. The display tanks on their own are worth the visit, absolutely stunning. They have a good selection of aquascaping materials and tools. There is a wide selection of plants to choose from. The fish selection is great, there is always something new or interesting. The fish gets quarantined, so you buy healthy fish. Tanks and shop is always clean. The aquarium products and food that they sell is of highest quality. They also give you very helpful descriptions on their website. The owner is always helpful and give you his honest opinions.

The shopkeeper took a significant amount of time to answer a plethora of questions I had, despite a packed store and many others needing assistance. Not a single patron went without his attention. Intrinsic knowledge, vast selection of aquascaping items, and a deep seated value system of service. I love supporting the small guy, so I’ll be back here.

I had ordered 6 of the Betta Splendid girls to start a sorority tank, I had high hopes as i have ordered multiple times from McMerwe before and had only one fish pass and the others thrive and arrive safely. My experience was horrible. The parcel arrives and I open the box to see that ALL 6 of the girls are in the same bag, torn up fins, scales gone, sick, lethargic and dull in color with major stress stripes. Not only that but they shipped all the same bag, completely different sizes and age. The smaller girls were obviously bullied and in the worst shape. I was stunned. For a company I presume ships hundreds of fish a month this was awful. I acclimated the poor girls and are now treating them. I was heartbroken.

Well informed staff, helpfull and kind. clean and cozy store with an abundance of aquatic accesories and live stock at amazing prices compared to other aquatic stores. Abseloutley love the setup I drove 50min to this store (McMerwe) and will do it again without a doubt.

The shop in Okavango Junction Brackenfell is a relatively small dedicated place focusing on all things aquatic, a fishkeepers dream. Owner Jacques is extremely knowledgeable and work both behind the counter as well as on the floor, meaning the help and advise given comes directly from someone running a successful shop filled with healthy aquariums.
