Daruma is THE BEST kept secret for Japanese dining experience. Their food is always made with quality ingredients and recipe. Even their take outs are thoughtfully packaged to separate hot & cold foods. Love their attention to detail. Probably why I go here more than all other Japanese restaurants combined. My go to's are - Chicken katsu (not on the menu), Niku soba noodle soup, Salmon/Chicken teriyaki, Gomae with spinach (not on the menu), Agedashi tofu, Ama-Ebi (Sweet shrimp) sushi, Daruma sushi dinner, and of course their spaghetti!

One of the best if not the best Japanese restaurant in IL. All of their Japanese is top notch! My top favorites are their takoyaki and katsu curry. Their takoyaki is the best I have ever had, great texture and flavor. The takoyaki retains its crispy exterior and has a generous amount of octopus! Katsu curry: the chicken katsu keeps its crispy texture despite being drenched in rich and creamy curry sauce. The curry has an AMAZING curry flavor.

We were celebrating a friend's birthday so we had 1 of the private rooms which was really comfortable. The service was good, the food was delicious and the sushi was amazing. It's the first time I had sashimi that melted in my mouth and it's an experience I will likely not forget. The Japanese spaghetti on the menu was surprisingly tasty. I say surprisingly because I didn't know what to expect. The only con was the restroom which wasn't very clean at the time I went in. Despite that, I'd highly recommend this place for the food, the service, and the atmosphere

Came here with a group of 10 for my birthday. Service & food was outstanding. We will all definitely be back. Very impressed. Sushi has more fish and not so much rice like you find at other restaurants. If I can give them more stars I would. 10/10 🤗🍣

Excellent food and overall experience. Staff was very attentive to my large group and the dishes came out promptly. The sushi was loaded with fish, this place does not skimp out at all! Highly recommend!!

Worth the trip from downtown to eat at Daruma. Love the variety of Japanese food and the authentic taste. We love Japanese spaghetti and Daruma is the only place that serves it and taste just like we had in Tokyo. The ramen broth was very flavourful and the sushi is always fresh.

Always polite and kind wait staffs and it really doesn't matter who serves, they all have great personality. So, that is always (+) to great food they serve. Their Sushi is consistent, quality, size and freshness is .............just awesome!

I went to Daruma with a friend and did it make reservation. The wait was a bit since the place was very packed! The food was amazing! I really liked it a lot! The quality and taste make me think of Japan! The service was okay. The ambiance was great I liked the layout of inside of the restaurant! I highly highly recommend DR to anyone who wants high quality food!

My mom said this is the best sushi place in Chicagoland and she's absolutely correct. They have a very wide selection of sushi and sashimi, you can't go wrong with any of them. I had the beef udon soup which I was kinda scared about since at another restaurant it was pretty bad. My hopes were not crushed, however, as this was some of the best udon soup I've ever had. My family got a bunch of sushi and sashimi which was all equally extremely good. The fish is all fresh and everyone was really nice! However we came at a really busy time so water and plates were slow to come after them realizing that they missed one. Server was very helpful with suggestions and patient. Again.. FOOD IS GREAT. It can get pricey if you go for individual sushi (although worth it) but my soup was $13 and definitely worth the price (Niku Udon Dinner). All in all, easy 5 stars.

You know it's an authentic experience when nearly every other patron is speaking exclusively in Japanese. I ordered the karaage and yakisoba and was thoroughly impressed. The yakisoba came on a hot plate and was a greasy, savory, and tangy delight. The karaage was well seasoned, crisp, and moist. Highly recommended!

We came here for my daughters 13th birthday, group of 5. We’ve been here many times and it’s always great food. But tonight with Halloween decorations and all the staff dressed up, Halloween music going… it was amazing. ALL the staff were so nice and made my daughters day special. As always, the food was great! Thank you so much! Thanks for making our night!

I love the design of the restaurant. When you first walk in, it’s like you’re transported to Japan. Service was great. They have a today’s special menu but unfortunately they may not have all of them available. I wasn’t able to get my first or second choice. Prices are typical. Ample parking. -Dashimaki tamago (egg omelet with baby silver fish and green onions) 4/5 -Kani cream croquette (deep fried snow crab meat) 5/5 -Black tonkatsu ramen 5/5 -Beef teriyaki combo 4/5

We had been coming here for over 5 years and the food is always tasty, served hot and reasonable. We always get the lunch specials. Our favorite are grilled Chicken teriyaki bento box, fried oysters and curry chicken plate with rice. The grilled chicken is juicy and yet crispy on one side. The staff is always friendly and prompt.

Very good, fresh sushi. The maki is not covered and masked with lots of sauces on top. Lots of small plate appetizer options. Also the standard udon, soba and ramen options. Good portions. The rice bowl is huge! Recommend the soft shell crab, pork cheeks, nigiri and maki the most. Karaage had a heavier batter than we expected. Beef Coquette was a bit bland on its own but the spicy mustard did pair well with it. There are a few private rooms available. Great to go with family and friends for a variety of Japanese food options.

Daruma is a popular destination for Japanese travelers. You will often see groups of Japanese businessmen dining. It is a good spot for family and date night dining as well. The food is traditional flavor and quality. The atmosphere is nice and the service has always been good for us. I recommend making reservations, especially if you would like one of the private dining rooms that you sit in the floor. You will have to remove your shoes if you want those rooms.

Best Japanese food I've had in the area! Great portions! Delicious fish! Can't go wrong with any of the fish. The karage was really moist and crispy. The ageshi tofu had great flavor. The tonkatsu was huge! Pasta and potato salad were really good. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

The best authentic Japanese restaurant around here. We got many appetizer items to try and the best was hands down the beef tataki. We got careless and ordered 5 deep fried items which was a little too much. The sushi was excellent but on the pricier side. But I think it’s totally worth it. Will totally come back for the beef and sushi and to try more stuff.

Food was good. Ordered a roll, a few pieces of nigiri, and a Katsu lunch. I was content with my order until a love Cockroach crawled from the corner of the sushi bar towards me. Pretty gross
