Took a short walk with the family to see the log art. The trail was very beautiful and well maintained. Lots of friendly hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and casual walkers/joggers. Driving on the service road to the parking lot felt like we were far away from Raleigh. It was so refreshing! We'll be back again!

Whether you're into walking, mountain biking, or on horseback, this park offers multiple trails, places to picnic, and a pit stop or two for when nature calls. Personally, I love shredding the challenging fire trails on my hard tail mountain bike.

This four mile loop is extremely scenic. One of my favorites that I've come across in umstead so far. It is definitely a trail run, not a nature hike. Plenty of roots, rocks, and inclines. The water next to the trail is pretty clean it is typically running water.

I recently hiked the Sycamore Trail in William B. Umstead State Park and I highly recommend it! It is a 7.2 mile loop trail that is moderately challenging, but not too strenuous. The trail winds through a variety of terrain, including forests, meadows, and streams. There are also a few short climbs, but nothing too steep. I really enjoyed the variety of scenery on this trail. There were some beautiful wildflowers in bloom, and I even saw a few deer. The trail is well-maintained and easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this trail to anyone looking for a challenging but rewarding hike.

One the best hikes near to Raleigh. If you’re a regular outdoor person, this is pretty easy hike to take. Its less than moderate and best part is you can take loop back at anytime. 1.3 mile one way till actual loop starts but total 7.2 mile if you want to go full stretch. Mixed usage trail in middle where many do bicycling. Park itself opens at 8:00 AM atleast in summer so plan accordingly. We were the first at gate around 7:45 AM and cars started piling up by 8:00 AM. Restrooms near parking lot and visitor center. Couple of shelters and many benches to do picnic. Entire trail is shaded which makes it the best to ho at anytime of the day.

Very good trail for a casual hike on weekends. Parking is a little far from the Raleigh entrance. Not a lot of inclines, and mostly well marked.

Absolutely beautiful place! My son and I went and we will most definitely be back. The main trail, or road basically, was nice and wide. I saw a bunch of little.kids and the nice wide road let them safely have a blast. The side trails were absolutely gorgeous. And of course the carved tree was so cool to see. Highly recommend going. This is a place that let's you fully enjoy the beauty of nature!

Really awsome trail that goes right along Sycamore Creek. Beautiful trail, although lots of roots. Not a flat trail. People with delicate ankles beware. It was truly beautiful.

Didn't care for the wide trail, but enjoyed the small trails that run along streams and creeks.
