Had a wonderful time on the Old Town Trolley tour. This is an essential experience for sight seeing in Boston the first time. We were able to book online the day before, then show the QR code on our phone to the trolley conductor. Our conductor "Crafty" had lots of fun facts about the city. We toured 17ish stops around Boston. You are able to get off at one stop, then reboard at another. Last tour starts at 5pm for the day!

I do not typically leave bad reviews but this is well deserved. We really thought this would be a great tour. We had tickets to see the Red Sox play the Yankees and had planned to do this tour the next day. The game was rained out and rescue l rescheduled the next day. We left the game early, about 3pm, to do this tour because the tour stopped at about 5pm. We rushed to the nearest trolley stop and got on the bus to learn that the tour was ending an hour early. We were not happy to have left the game early NOT to be able do the tour. The website clearly stated 5pm, my confirmation email clearly stated 5pm, the only thing that said 4pm was a sign on the trolley. I had even called and spoken to them on the phone about buying the tickets and nothing was said about closing early. Being that we were leaving early the next day, our plans were wrecked. The driver seemed like a great guy and we will probably try again when we come back through.

Today was absolutely the worst experience we have ever had with Old Town Trolly! Waits well over a hour and the poor driver has to explain at every stop why passengers can’t get on. Management was totally at fault and did nothing to help! We have be3n on these tours in the past with no issues but this admin staff needs to step down. I will be pushing for a refund!! !! Awful customer service!

I think these would be great on a non-rainy day! The tour guides seemed friendly and knowledgeable and kept you engaged and entertained, however, we went on a rainy day and it was difficult to see out the plastic windows as they fogged and held water on the surface more so than traditional windows so it really took away from the experience. I’d try again on a non-rainy day.

The sales person was really helpful. We saved a lot by buying the harbour boat tour and trolley tour together. The trolley tour has two separate routes with lots of stops. One route takes 2 hours and the other one 1 hour but you can spread your journey into two days. Just explain the need and they'll put a note on your ticket. There is live and humorous commentary instead of recorded voice. It's a pleasant journey.

Seeing how we LOVE the st Augustine old trolleys I figured this would be the best choice for getting around Boston but it was a hassle and a mess. The stop closest to our hotel only ran from 9-11 am so once the trolley stopped running at 5pm you were SOL & on your own. The tours were long, and even longer wait times to even get on IF there was room for you. Traveling took up the entire day just trying to get from place To place. Hambone (I think) swore the Boston tea party museum was open until 5pm but please be warned it closes at 4! And we missed it. Just trying to get there took is from 2:30 until 4:45 ish and It was the only thing I wanted to do this trip. They closed the next two days so we couldn’t even save it for another day. The booths for this trolley which is where we bought the tickets did not DO REFUNDS so we can’t even get our money back for the tour until we email in and request it. However Webly made up or entire experience and I am so happy we stuck it out and tried the trolleys again. He was the best guide! Extremely helpful, willing to make room for Everyone, and helped us get back to stop 18. He was also the easiest to understand & Informative. St Augustine is a way batter trolley experience for travel but if you want all the history the and only want to do a 90 minute tour this might me worth it for you.

This is a really good way to get around the city and see all the main attractions (especially in the Winter!) We chose this company over their competitor because it went over to MIT. Highly recommend getting off at the MIT stop and going to Harvard Square. It’s a beautiful campus and there are bars and shops around. Sometimes the bus got busy so we couldn’t get on but there were always other buses a few minutes behind it so we weren’t waiting long.

Great way to see the city but it can get busy. If a cruise is in town the trolleys will fill up quickly. We had several pass by because they were full.

Terrible experience, in winter do not take this tour unless you want to spend the money for fun, the vinyl on the windows has a terrible quality, they are old and dirty and you can't see anything of the city. The experience has been terrible, even though it was $200 for 4 people, it was literally a robbery. Don't take it in winter when the vinyls are underneath. I'm going to demand a refund from the company. Tour was great but Townie was the driver / guide you gotta ask for. The ultimate Boston tour by someone authentically Boston. Funny and knowledgeable, we had a blast with stories and inside tidbits. Ask for the Super Bowl story!

  • 5/5 Jennifer J. 5 months ago on Google • 32 reviews
This was such a fun experience! The driver recited lots of history and eas very funny. You can hop on and off whenever you like. Our driver was "Townie" and he was absolutely amazing! The photos are all from the bus! I would recommend riding all the way through and then deciding what stops you want to get off at. The busses run constantly.

Easy way to see a lot. However, it is mandatory to download the app onto your smartphone if you do not book online beforehand. There you then scan the QR code from the receipt and you have your ticket. We recommend at least the ticket for 2 days and you should then use the entire time. This is the only way to get down and back up several times to take a closer look.

Informative tours, with nice clean buses. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and never waited too long to get on a Trolley. The only issue I have is the Trollies do get more expensive as the day goes through. We went on at 12 pm and it was 10$ more than what the website said. So good side you'll always get a sit, but it's pretty high price. When we went on there was a ton of room so it didn't seem necessary, especially with how many trolleys they had running. So if you want the cheapest price possible go early. But we were only in Boston for a day and it was definitely worth doing, to get a nice view of the city and some information about the place quickly. Included are some pictures I got while on the trolley in case you're interested in the view you get.

Enjoyed the Tour. The choice of stops was amazing. Tour guides commentary was very educational and he held your interest. I was in a group of 3 Senior citizens with various physical challenges. The bus was not accommodating to our issues . But the help to keep us safe came from our fellow travelers...from college students to our fellow Seniors. Thank you to all the good and caring people who helped us. We will remember to Pay It Forward!

Wide open no-glass big windows give super views in the season. Use your ticket for free admission to a handful of venues and you'll save a bundle especially if you are with family. For example $22 tickets to the wax museum are included free. Be sure to plan your stops ahead of time, but be aware that Boston is a construction zone with stops cancelled or closed from time to time during the day as streets are open and shut. The loop takes about two and a half hours in busy weekday traffic. Snappy wise-cracking drivers do an amazing job keeping everyone entertained while professionally navigating the tangled streets. This is a superb way to see the area, and is a very good value.

Packed full of great facts and information. Was a little busy at times, unfortunately we had to wait in the cold for another trolley to come along as one was full. Also, quite expensive.

Even though I grew up here, I learned so much about the history of the city that I didn't know! Our driver, Rocky, was The. Best. Driver. Ever. Funny, knowledgeable, easy to hear and understand. I loved the option of getting off when I wanted to see something and hopping back on. It was money well spent! Great intro to the city for first timers!

Pretty good tour, as expected, interesting and informative. Only complaint... There was a very long wait for the trolley to show up in the first place. Then just a few stops later, we're all told to disembark, and we had to stand a long time in line to board another trolley. NOT appreciated by us and a lot of other customers.

My wife, my 15-month-old twin boys, and I took this tour today. “Uncle Steve,” our driver, was very nice, at first. He even said to not worry if the boys got upset and started fussing at any point during the tour as it was “music to [his] ears.” One of my boys started to get upset about halfway through the tour and started to cry. Two stops later Uncle Steve suggested we get off the tour. He offered to help us get our stuff off his bus. I accepted, and he proceeded to step all over our stuff and politely hoisted it off his bus. We were three miles from our hotel. My wife and I had to push our twins the whole way back. One of my boys has food allergies. Fortunately we had packed enough food for him, but we did not pack sunscreen thinking we’d be covered for the most part until we got back to the hotel. Again, fortunately we found some sunscreen outside the Public Garden about halfway through our trek. If it had just been me and my wife on this tour, we would have had no issue. If you have young children, DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR!

Lovely way to see the city, frequent stops and enthousiast guides. We started with Bug and he was the best of the day for sure! I liked the other two too, but I liked Bugs humor, he wasn't too loud and he had a calm presence which I liked :) So thanks to all of you!

Tour guides were informative and engaging. However the tour company oversold the bus tickets to cruise ship excursions. We were not able to hop off at all as every stop had several people waiting and the buses were already full. At one stop, the line of people waiting said we were already the 4th bus that stopped that was full.

Did the full tour with Gonzo, nice guy but he didn't give a ton of information about the city during the tour. Very little history, but some fun everyday commentary. Hopped on for a while with cowboy, awesome guide, lots of information and history throughout, and a genuinely likeable guide. Would recommend, but the quality is contingent on the guide. Highly recommend with cowboy.

Nice informative tour. Only company to offer a trolley tour like this so be ready for long waits if you plan on doing this when it’s busy. There were 2 trolleys operating when we went which is fine when there’s not many people but once it started to get busy a lot of people were left waiting as there was no seats available on either trolley.

A good way to get a feel for the city. Driver non stop talking and driving. Was hoping to see more historical places from trolley vs getting out and walking to each one. Did the upgrade to do the Harbor Tour via the boat. That was really worth it.

Overall a good tour, they take you all over downtown. Some of the tour guides speak a little fast so it may be hard to understand them. Easy to get on and off. I don't know how much i paid for the tour since i was told we were taking it by the wife, but they provide a good history overview. I'll let you know if it was worth the value when I get my credit card statement!

Memorial Day weekend 2019. Only started service at 12pm but their website did have a note although not while buying. Stood at Boston Commons stop 14 and 5 buses came and couldn't take more than 3 ppl. People in line were NOT happy and drivers weren't helpful. Finally just took a Lyft. Other City tour buses had way more space. Def wouldn't do this again.

Wow! A great way to learn about Boston. 22 stops and you get to hop on/off all day. Perfect for a person with a bad leg😬 we took the trolly first thing in the morning and went through the 22 stops. Getting off for lunch etc but during the tour I wrote down which stop # so then I can go back to it. I think this trolly was great. The only negative thing I could say is I wish the stops would be more clearer wheee to stay . It was hard looking for the orange black paper around the sign. Thank you😌
