Boston Common should not be confused with Boston Public Gardens, which is right next to it. Boston Common is more likely to have homeless hanging around that the gardens and it also has no flower displays. It is more like a city green space than the public gardens beside it. That being said, you can easily walk around the Commons in 30 minutes, and the Commons/Public garden in an hour. It is centrally located which can make the green space a nice break from the surrounding city. Beneath Boston Common is a parking garage. The red line T also drops you off below the park. The visitors center is nice and clean with a public restroom and souvenirs you can buy. There is also a playground for kids. There is also to do surrounding the park so it is a good jumping off point if you want to explore the Freedom trail, walk along Boylston street etc. The commons also has events, plays are put on here, protests are held, movie nights etc. As mentioned it is utilized best as a gathering/even space with the Gardens next door being the nice, quiet, pretty attraction.

🏞️🌲🌳🌿☘️⛸️ Large and beautiful park. In the winter time, when the lake freezes, you can go "ice skating." Very lush and green. You might see a wedding or two there (See photos). Boston is such a calm and quaint city and I think that the park encapsulates the essence of the city. It's hard to miss this park if you visit Boston.

I love the commons. It’s so beautiful throughout every season, but especially spring and fall. Always a joy to visit when the tulips are blooming. It’s a nice place to take my dog to walk, and to enjoy nature in the city. It generally is very peaceful even when it’s busy.

It’s a beautiful park. More like dog park. Green and very refreshing Place in the middle of the city. Walking distance to most places. Since it attracts so many tourists, it gets over crowded that people start bumping into each other.

This park is a true beauty! The leisurely stroll revealed a diverse array of trees, captivating statues, and picturesque views. Visiting in November meant experiencing fall in all its splendid glory. 🍁🌳🍂

Boston Common is a fantastic park located in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. It's the oldest public park in the United States and offers a beautiful green space for people to relax, walk, and enjoy outdoor activities. The park is surrounded by various attractions like the Boston Common Visitor Center and the Boston Common Carousel, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Such a great open area for walking, running, taking your dog out to play, and seeing a bit of history. When we went they had the ice rink set up. Can't wait to go when it's warmer.

Beautiful big park with a nice long path to walk and even can go to the start of the freedom trail. The park has a ton of green space and so walking here is so enjoyable and relaxing

So much to discover here. Easily accessible, and you can even buy parking online so you can use a QR code to scan on and out of the underground garage. The park is rich with monuments, open space, lakes, bridges, vendors, and more. You are tucked in the heart of the city and food and coffee is a quick walk away. Great place to run, relax, or bring the family. Stop by!

Its a nice open space to wander. There's lots of mature trees, and also lots of squirrels busily living their lives there. You can get quite close to them. During our visit you could see the clouds dropping down, hiding the tops of the tall buildings.

I was here in October 2017. This was my first day in Boston. I was staying at a local hostel and was close enough I could get around on foot to many places. This was the first stop of the day where I was able to get breakfast at the Dunkin Donuts across the street and eat quietly. This park is beautiful and has so many spots to just hang out and enjoy the moment right in the middle of huge buildings and hustle and bustle of the businesses. Would definitely coming by for walking and changing of the leaves when your a tourist.

Beautiful space right in the center of Boston. Housed between university buildings, government offices and historical landmarks, this park, especially for someone coming from abroad, provides a welcome space of calm and joy. Still have to explore it further but these are my first impressions ✨

This is a very nice park suitable for both sports and leisure. This park is also the starting point of the Freedom Trail. You can follow the red brick road, and along the way, there are many historical and cultural attractions, as well as quite a few unique shops. It's worth allocating plenty of time to experience this city. If you're traveling with family, children should enjoy this kind of exploration, which has a bit of a treasure hunt and adventure feel along the way.

Best part of our Boston trip! We aren't really history buffs and thought the freedom trail was just...eh. Once we got to this park, we had so much fun and saw amazing views. This is also random, but the squirrels there are super friendly. They will just eat food right out of your hand. Just a nice relaxing place in downtown Boston.

The common looks nice in the summer time so don’t judge the pics still winter out here. Frog pond is empty no ice skating ring right now, no horse carousel usually next to frog pond. Couple Italian sausage spots in the park, fried dough. Lots of stores near bye McDonald’s Dunkin’ Donuts and Burger King Asian soup and Mexican spot can sit on grass and eat. Make sure you are a dog lover a lot of dogs in the common running after balls, tennis court packed with kids in summertime. Also if you play Pokémon this is the place to be lots of Pokémon and on community day it’s packed and lots of players to play with. The bad part reason for 3 stars the park has a lot of homeless vagrants homeless shelter 3 mins away so park gets a lot of vagrants hanging out feeding animals and alot of people on bench selling weed u will smell it and u can see a small bench with about 12 guys. Also do not go to the commons at night I would not recommend walking through park at night vagrants and people trying to sell you cd and the pot dealers come in full force at night. I am a big dude tattoos and some what a tough guy and I don’t feel that comfortable walking through the common at night.

Established in 1634, Boston Common is America’s oldest public garden and probably my favorite spot in all of Boston. Steeped in history it is one of the stops on the freedom trail. So peaceful, serene and beautiful on a sunny day!! The Massachusetts State House (another stop on the Freedom Trail) is right next door.

The Boston Common and the Public garden is a very beautiful public park in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. It is the oldest city park in the United States. Any time of year is a good time to visit the Garden and walk along the esplanade , but summer and fall are really spectacular to enjoy the color and splendor of the plantings and foliage. Really a lovely place

A perfect place for morning jobs and evening strolls! I went there towards the end of fall and the trees were beautiful, all of the differently coloured. The pond is a perfect place to sit around and watch the ducks, you can even feed the ducks if you are into it. Suitable to take your toddler for a stroll, hang out with a bunch of friends, have summer picnics or even peaceful dates. Totally recommended.

Its amazing with all the lights shining. The tree looks magical with snow covering just the right places and people were kind enough to one another when it came to moving out if the way to take photos. Love Boston during the holiday season ... but there are no public restrooms or porta potty available

The park is very nice and from what I could see it was great for kids. Coming out of it you'll see the state house however the establishment was closed on the day I went which was kind of a bummer because it looked really interesting. Unfortunately, the face of the building was obscured by scaffolding but we could at least see the golden dome. The mural of the African American troops and the revolutionary war facing the building was very striking and quite moving. The artist was able to capture the poignant expressions on the faces of the soldiers which were a mix of resolve, resignation, courage, and strength.

This place was alive and thriving! There are so many things to do, and it's the absolute perfect spot for a picnic, dogs, walking, rollerblading, or just taking it all in. It is picturesque, and it kind of makes you feel like you're in a movie. There's was even a guy doing drawings of you for $1, which was so cool. Definitely check this place out.

A MUST stop on a visit to Boston. The oldest public park in America. Clean, fresh air & fun for families or just a nice summer walk. The carousel is $4 & I highly recommend stopping by the visitor centre on Tremont street & a walking tour. Great weekend afternoon activities & fun.

Oldest public park in USA, this place is packed with history. Also a great area for picnic and sightseeing (the frog statue is within this park). This is also starting point for the freedom trail walk, where early resident of Boston lived in. Recommend taking a guided tour of the trail to learn some history and significance of the buildings surrounding the area

Mini Central Park lookalike. It is beautiful with a pond in the middle of the park with a bridge over it. They do offer boat rides to explore the park on water, which is nice. There are plenty of statues that are filled with historical information. The park looks well maintained and parking is, of course, paid street parking. Great place for a walk to enjoy nature.

Large 50-acre park centered in Boston. So much life happens here as it is full of runners, animals, tours, photographers, and so much more. Miles of beautiful, well-maintained sidewalks run throughout the park. I would highly suggest visiting this park if you have the time. Bring a blanket and a camera so you can take pictures of the pond and other things! Great place for a picnic. Tip: once again, make sure to bring a camera!

Nice park for weekend hangouts and event photography. There are really talented musicians who play music in the park. There are benches to site on and lawn for children to play. You can bring you dig for a walk or play with other dogs as well. It has a beautiful view of the prudential and sunset in the evening.

A nice place for a walk and to see some statues and memorials. Kids can go on the carousel or swim in the Frog Pond in the summer and ice skate on the winter. There is a large 3-level parking garage under the Common at rates less expensive than the commercial garages in the area. The Green Line transit stop is at on corner of the site. The site is close to the downtown, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and Chinatown neighborhoods., as well as the Public Gardens and the State House. There is a tourist info center with rest rooms.

For the 50th Anniversary, a new tradition begins. September 22nd through October 22, 6 books each day are given out (just ask, someone is there waiting to great you). Books are mostly associated with the "Commons" and/or relatable history aka what we have in common, not just Boston Commons.

Boston common is a very nice park in the center of Boston. It is said to be the oldest park in the US. It was wonderful to have a walk there. Really nice, clean, green, open, large park near downtown Boston, beacon hill and back bay. Suitable for walks, jogging , reading , relaxing and pick nicks. Ponds and walk paths available inside green/grass spaces. Smoothies/drinks/shakes and fast food street canteens and canteen trucks available. Statues and halls:places for cultural events (concerts, theater performances, etc) available. Subway station (park street - green line) in park available. Restaurants, bars and fast food places all around the park. Next to Newbury street. Giving it 4 stars because at late hours (after evening) or around the subway station, creeps and public nuisance small crowds are present. They are unpleasant and they make tourists/passers by afraid. More police/ cleaning is needed at later hours and at the park area with these people.

Beautiful, beautiful park in the centre of Boston. A jewel in the middle of the city. Common grounds for citizens, with a great atmosphere and summer vibes also at the sunset. People come here for a walk, to spend time with friends, families or pets. Wonderful surroundings with the lights of the skyscrappers at night!

We walked around there on a Friday afternoon before memorial Day and it was covered in flags and my son absolutely loved it! There are people playing music at every corner, people lounging out on picnic blankets and playing frisbee. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere or anything goes. I absolutely loved being able to dance down the walkway to the music without having anybody even give me a second glance. That's what I love about the city. We had an awesome family day!

Visiting the Boston Common on a rainy, cold, and dreary Sunday revealed a different but equally enchanting side of this iconic city park. Despite the weather, the Common's charm remained undiminished. The rain-kissed trees and misty pathways created a serene ambiance, making it a unique and immersive experience. The park's historical significance and lush greenery served as a backdrop for the city's past and present to coalesce. We strolled along the meandering paths, discovering historical monuments and appreciating the thoughtful landscape design. The picturesque Frog Pond, although quiet on a rainy day, added a touch of tranquility to the bustling city surroundings. We watched as raindrops created ripples on its surface, reflecting the timeless beauty of the city's oldest public park. The park's accessibility and central location made it a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike, even on a dreary day. Families, friends, and even solo travelers found respite within its bounds, enjoying moments of solitude or camaraderie amidst nature's elements. While we couldn't experience the Common in its usual vibrant splendor, the rain-soaked visit offered a different, almost magical perspective. It reminded us that every day, regardless of weather, has its own allure in the heart of Boston. The Boston Common is indeed a cherished jewel in the city's crown, welcoming all with its rich history, serene landscapes, and enduring charm.

It's nice to have some green space in the midst of such a populous city. The playground and spray park are cute and the sculptures hive a sense of the city's rich history.

Nice part. Plenty openness cleaning places if you just want to lay in the grass. Read a book. Take a nap. Have a small lunch, snack or even dinner

This place is a gem in the heart of the city. It’s Boston’s Central Park 😊 It is a peaceful nice place where I can spend the entire day by the side of the pond reading a book under the old redwood trees. The best part is that it has a huge parking lot under it and it very close to the Charles Esplanade. A must go place whether you live in Mass or are visiting.

Good walk through a park. Nice scenery and statues to look at and read about. I went at night and was a little nervous because I was with my kids but there was plenty of street lighting along the pathways and I seen a couple cops in the area.

The underground parking for the downtown area is underneath this park. When you walk out, you see a large green space, very welcoming. Was there on a Friday morning and saw multiple Boston tours in and around the park (in period clothing). Some beautiful water fountains, sculptures, etc.. There are a couple of less fortunate folks that wonder about the park but don't dampen the experience all that much. Next time I head down to Boston, I will take the time to walk around the entire park

We were enjoying looking around the common when we heard tours were available. We booked, and had a great time. Our tour guide was fantastic, so informative and interesting. Definitely recommend taking the tour.

Beautiful park to walk around. Plenty to see and lots of places to sit. Very dog friendly and peaceful. Visitor Centre very helpful. Just loved walking around and seeing how well the park is looked after.

If you’ve been to Central Park in NY before, then Boston common is the junior sibling to Central Park 😂 Boston common is beautiful and a great relaxing place for you and your family. It’s also not too far from downtown Boston where there’s so much hustling and bustling. I loved it and I’m sure you will enjoy it. 💕

Nice variety. Very festive during the month of December. Ice sking rink is nice in the winter and sprinkler/wading pool in the summer on the Frog Pond.
