Absolutely loved our tour guide, Crafty. The hop on/hop off feature allowed us to do so many things. It was a cold and rainy day, but the trolley allowed us to experience Boston in comfort. 10/10 would recommend, and would do again!

We took the sunset tour over the weekend. It was the best tour ever. It was really great seeing the city at nighttime. We got lots of really great pictures. The trolley driver was so informed and was a great tour guide. If I’m ever in Boston again, I will only use this company. We used a different company there over the week we was there and we was left at a stop during the day. We had to walk back to our hotel after sitting there for over a hour waiting. After we got back to hotel that company didn’t even have their booth up anymore. So take it from me only use Old Trolley town and not the red tour bus one.You get what you pay for.

My husband and I have been to Boston many times but this was our first trip with our three children. My husband was at a conference and I was alone with the three of them SANS A CAR!!! (15, 13 & 9...Wow, are they that old now?!) and thought this tour will be perfect for the four of us without a car. It was completely! We could get to all of the major sites via this trip. More importantly, they walked away with so much information about Boston. I love that we were able to hop on and hop off as we wanted. Big shout out to Maureen and Uncle Steve for our guided tours. We had a blast and cannot wait for our next trip to Boston....we had a great tour guide at the end (whose name is escaping me, Darn It!) who told the little known ghost stories of Boston as we were stuck in traffic heading back to Faneuil Hall. This was ALL of my children's favorite story to share when we all reconnected. I have to tell you... the kids have already said that dad needs to take this trip around Boston! He was impressed as we walked around the next day & the kids told him about what they had learned on the trolley. If you're in Boston with kids and you want to give them the highlights & be able to get around, this is for you!!!

This was our first hop on-hop off tour in Boston. We did find out that this group has multiple buses and they run about every 15min apart. I also found out this is a well established group and the guides are knowledgable about the history as well as providing directions to other sights nearby. Look at it this way, if you know what you want to see in Boston then this can likely get you there (or nearby). You hop off and take your time and then hop on to head back to your starting point or another destination. All along the way hearing about other sights and historical events. On the inside the buses are terraced so basically everyone has a decent view. They're open air which can be good or bad. No drinking or smoking. Watch for the stairs entering or leaving. All in all worth the ticket price. We got a one day pass. Multiple day passes and other bundles are also available. Urban Cowgill Aug 2023

This tour was an incredible way to see Boston. There is so much history to take in and this was such a great way to learn. Nick who sold us our tickets also gave us excellent tips on places to eat to get the best Seafood Chowder (Boston Sail Loft) as well as suggestions for great Italian restaurants. All the tour guides were incredible, but Miss Jackson was over the top amazing. She made the educational information very entertaining and memorable. Her ability to navigate the trolley through rush hour and have us all laughing with various songs and stories was amazing. Best way to see Boston. Highly, highly recommend this tour.

This was the best trolley tour I’ve ever been on. Lisbon, our trolley driver, was absolutely amazing!!!!! He made it so much fun. He was knowledgeable, personable, and made the time pass so quickly! The tour hit every historic landmark and gave great photo opps while we were able to stay dry. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

The best sightseeing tour I’ve ever experienced. Been traveling a lot, but Old Town Trolley drivers are so happy and knowledgeable about Boston and surroundings. Got picked up by Seaport in the morning and I also had a Harbor cruise in my gold pass ticket. Great choice for a day or 2. I got off and on like 3 times. (USS Constitution, Old State House, Boston Common). I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

From the hop-on/hop-off service to the Ghost tours - Old Town Trolley Tours of Boston is the best! We would totally book them again when visiting Boston. The ghost/cemetery tour was so much fun and we learned a lot. The workers are truly committed to giving you one of the best theatrical experiences in Boston. I would totally recommend giving any of their tours a try but especially the ghost tour.

As a former employee, this is my honest opinion of Boston OTT. It's a great company with a lot of hardworking people who drive and narrate for them. Regarding the pricing, I recommend that you buy your tickets online. Trust me. It will save you time and money. Sales people on the street are making BIG commissions of the tourists. Ticket prices start at $50 per person and go up from there during the course of the day. In the summer, good luck finding tickets for $50. Winter time is the best time to see Boston, in my opinion. Less tourists and foot traffic. The tour is worth every penny! It's the best way to see Boston, in my opinion. There are 14 stops throughout the city, and you hop on and off as you please. It takes about 2 hours or so to do a complete loop without hopping off. The drivers narrate along the way and talk about the history of Boston. The trolleys run about every 20 minutes or so. Be aware that in the summertime, trolleys are full, and wait times are much higher. Old Town Trolley has competition here in Boston. A double decker bus with a limited route, another trolley company with less bells and whistles, less cost, 9 stops, and the famous Duck Boats that go in the water for 20 minutes (it's a kid thing). I write this a fan of OTT and the great Drivers who work for them.

Worth every penny! It's easily the best way to see this or any city that this company is located. It costs about $50 per person for a full day and they also have a 2nd day for a few dollars more. There are 15 stops throughout the city and you hop on and off as you please. It takes about 2 hours to do a complete loop. The drivers narrate along the way, and the trolleys run about every 15 minutes or so. Just hop off if you want to explore a certain area and hop back on any trolley at a designated stop. It sure beats driving in this city where it's hard to find parking, the roads are a mess, and the drivers are crazy. The stops are at all of the key areas of the city: parks, museums, landmarks, etc.

It is a bit pricey at over $50 per person, but it gets you all over town, the drivers are knowledgeable and funny, and it is a great way to get to see Boston and hot all the highlights. The weather was bad the day we were on the trolley so we were grateful the windows roll down to keep you dry, even if it obscures the view slightly. The stops are easy to find and the trolleys run regularly enough that you aren’t waiting too long. Sadly I did not seem to take any pics of the trolleys! Just done of the sites along the tour.

I highly recommend Old Town Trolley tours for any city you visit that they’re in. Especially here in Boston since other tours that are just the freedom trail are equal in cost. This tour allows you to see more of the city and hear about its overall history. If you can find the driver Townie he is truly the best guide! He is a local and knows everyone and everything about Boston. Ride the full 1hr 45 minutes with him and then the rest of the day you can use it as transportation around the city

We found a trolley stop but no prices were listed. We went to ask a driver about how it worked and he said just hop on and we'll take care of you at another stop. We were surprised about an hour & many stops later to find out it was $46 a person. We thought that seemed a little bit expensive. He dropped us off at the end to pay. At that point we were given an out-of-date map. I mean the stops were the same but it said the deals that you would have got in 2018. It mentioned that we should have gotten about $50 worth of coupons so that we could have gotten off at stops and gone to museums at a discount or for free. We did not get any coupon books and we did not find out that it was an option until we already finished the day and paid and left and were looking at the map. I would do this again but I would strongly recommend starting at a stop where you can pay and getting all of the information up front. If you got on in the morning and got off at each stop and visited things you could spend an entire day doing this! It is a great deal of fun but a little more communication up front would have been helpful and actually getting what we were supposed to would have been terrific too.

Tours are very informative and entertaining. You're able to hop on and off at 15 stops around the city. When it's cold the windows do limit the ability to take photos but over all a definite recommendation for anyone visiting

nice way to see city... driver was very knowledgeable. If you're just wanting to see Boston's historic sites, you might want to walk the Freedom Trail. But to see more of Boston this is definitely a great way to go. The drivers were very knowledgeable, humorous and very polite. Each of them had some different additional knowledge than the other about the town, history and sites. This is a great way to get around town and let to most places you may want to go without the hassle of driving and parking yourself. Drivers were a great wealth of knowledge. You get your money's worth if you get on and off. Parking in the city of Boston cost $30 plus. Drivers were highly entertaining. Stops throughout the city made touring Boston extremely easy and convenient. waiting time was not that much, even while waiting, you can admire beauty if this old town. We got a lot of tips on sites to see; and, places to visit. The trolley was basically a bus, with vinyl windows, which leaked cold air. But, we were fairly comfortable. Great tour. Recommended...

Wonderful way to explore Boston at your own pace. The tour itself lasts just a couple of hours if you stay on the bus but you may want to spread it over two days as there is just so much to see and lots of individual tours available at many of the stops. The same company runs the Boston tea Party tour which I would also highly recommend which at the time of writing was at stop 16.

Rode with Uncle Steve, JD, Steve-O, and New York who were all fantastic guides with an absolute wealth of knowledge. Also did the Ghosts and Gravestones tour. Both are a must for the history/Boston lover as they do a great job of blending historical stories with some modern things of what to see and do like the Converse factory.

Fenced in playground with water sprinkler in the summer months, all play equipment is new and meets the minimum UN standards of fostering non aggressive playground behavior. The park was also decontaminated by replacing top soil and adding drainage in 2018. Recent environmental study estimated that no trace of PCB'S , Mercury or various other heavy elements will be present or detectable by 2025 (with an estimated total rainfall of 20 inches per year) unfortunately snowfall beyond 5 inches per season will delay the process. The pollution was caused by an old power plant across the street that was designated a super fund site by the World Health Organization in 2005. The plant had been in service for over 150 years the 3 plants on site had a total of 5 smoke stacks! The power plant site is now in final approval process for zoning change to residential.

If you haven’t been to Boston, this is a great way to get to know the city and explore top sights! Our first trolley guide, Lisbon, was very clear, knowledgeable, and charismatic. However, some of the other drivers we had were very hard to understand and seemed to mumble, causing us to miss some important facts and sights. We really liked the idea of hopping on and off but I wish it was possible to keep the same driver. Regardless, the experience was of good value and we enjoyed it. Thank you!

We chose a 2-day platinum pass for our visit to Boston in July 2021. The trolley tours are a great way to see all of the highlights of the area. I recommend going at least twice for the same route since you get a different twist on the tour depending on who your driver is. We loved Uncle Pete and Bear - they were both informative and fun to listen to. We even learned to speak "Boston" from Bear.

Our family took the sunset trolley tour of Boston over the weekend and the views were absolutely stunning. Lots of photo ops, and we loved seeing the town all lit up at night too. Our guide was J and she was funny and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend the sunset tour.

Highly recommend especially if you want to get a good overview of Boston. At 9 we arrived at stop 1 with our morning coffee ( recommend ) boarded the trolley and because our guide was so personable and fun to listen to ( quint ) we stayed on enjoyed the ride and coffee and did the complete tour . We hopped off at stop 1 to use restroom and regrouped. Walked to Paul reveres house and did north church tours - both excellent. Followed the freedom trail to stop 2 and waited 10 min for a trolley to head to stop 3 across the River to Uss constitution and bunker ( breeds hill ). After seeing both waited 15 min for trolley and got on to stop 5 where we saw faneuil hall and old capitol. Followed the freedom trail at this point to Boston commons and then had a great early dinner at Cheers bar near Beacon ( where everybody knows our name ☺️) Got back on the trolley at that stop 7 and rode it all the way back to stop 1 by 5 pm . It was a perfect day and made our experience so enjoyable. The cost we agreed was well worth it for all that we saw .

We loved this trolley tour. We did it on our first day in Boston and it was a great way to get acclimated to the city and learn our way around. They stopped at all the major spots in Boston and we were able to easily hop on and off to explore. Certainly a highlight of our trip!

Went on the Summer Nights tour last night and it was awesome! Crafty was a great driver and guide - very fun! Saw lots of cool stuff, learned lots of cool stuff. We laughed, we sang - it was a great time! Definitely take one evening to go on this tour - it’s well worth the money for a 90 minute tour with lots of photo opportunities. Thanks Old Town Trolley and Crafty (and Ariel for checking us on the tour)

It was a cold 30 degree and rainy day. First thing I said to tour guide was I hope you have heat on this Trolley. She laughed...at the second to last stop she noticed everyone was freezing and said "Oh are you cold" I'll turn the heat on I have three coats on as she laughed again." It ruined our tourat $70.00 pp. Needless to say she got no tip. We were miserable. I take alot of ppl on that tour I'll be looking at other options

This is the 4th time I've taken the Old Town Trolley in Boston & it's always ah-maz-ing! Love the stories and being able to hop on /off at the stops! This year was the first time we did the haunted tour and it was a blast! Chilly but fun & informative (went in mid October)... the guides are all wonderful ...the sites are beautiful. Will be back in a few years I hope! Thanks for the great time, OTT!

My wife and I opted for the tour because it promised a good view of the city. The tour guides were welcoming, fun, and open to questions. Being able to jump on and off the bus was fun, adding to the enjoyment of the tour. The bus was clean and maintained. The tour itself was informative and definitely worth the price. Additionally, utilizing the coupons and discounts from the trolley tours for other attractions around the city was a nice bonus. Overall, we had a great time.

Took the Christmas festive tour, Too much non sense and theatrics. What ever happened to just plain history on the tour. 2 tour guides together sharing a mic telling dumb jokes was lame. Just give me solid non-stop history, stupid personal anecdotes are no history. The regular day tour was way better, actually that would be rated 3 stars for solid info and what you’d expect from a trolley tour. But this festive tour was lame and I wish I could have my money back.

We took the trolley through Boston yesterday. Our first tour guide Uncle Steve was great, but we only had him for 3 stops. The second tour guide Skipper was nice, but he spoke SO FAST we could not understand anything he was saying. So we basically took a ride through Boston not knowing much of what were looking at. Just disappointed for over $200 for a family of 4.

The Old Town Trolley is the best way to get a nice overview of the city. We always take this tour in every city we visit if it’s available. I booked this one in advance on the Get Your Guide app. We got to see so much of Boston on our first day there by taking the trolley tour. It’s fun to ride the entire circuit first to get an idea of where you would like to explore further. Then you simply hop off where you want to spend some extra time. You can board again at the same stop and continue riding, or you can board again at any other stop. They even offer 2 day tickets. The drivers are outstanding guides and constantly giving a sometimes witty and always very informative narration. We have never been disappointed and would highly recommend

My wife and I went for our anniversary trip. The Trolly tours were highly recommended. We bought tickets for the tour, but due to COVID-19, it wasn’t the experience we were hoping for. I called the support center and within days we received a full refund and received a voucher for a future tour in the mail today. I was absolutely shocked with the customer service we received. What a wonderful company. The limited time we did ride we had a blast and learned a lot about the city. The only issue we had was having to wait on busses because Covid-19 restrictions put in place by the city caused the tour to limit number of riders. If we ever go back we will absolutely do the tour again.

We loved it!! A great way to see Boston in a day. The drivers kept it entertaining the whole time, and we learned a lot! There’s a parking garage right near stop 13, Boston commons parking garage. We didn’t have to walk much at all. We thought we’d get off the trolley more than we did, but we saw so much on the ride we didn’t feel the need! Well worth it.

Awful experience with customer service........ Me and my girlfriend arrived at one of the trolley stops to see if we were able to bring our dog on the trolley after explaining to one of the drivers and one of the workers that sells the tickets that it was an emotional support dog and showing the papers to the two workers they said it was okay and we can bring her along so we purchased two tickets after we got the confirmation that we were good to go. We waited around for the next trolley to come around the driver told us that the dog couldn't go on and the emotional support card didn't mean anything and was being extremely rude after we explained the situation ontop of all that she said she was the manager her name is Sue. Then she told all of the trolley drivers to not let us on any of the trolleys and instructed the lady that told us it was okay to bring the dog on the trolley to refund our money which we are still trying to get back (it's extremely difficult to get your money back)!!!! Would not recommend!!!

  • 2/5 Kathleen O. 3 years ago on Google
The service would’ve been much better if they had not falsely advertised. The majority of the locations they took us to were closed, due to the simple fact that it was a Monday. Furthermore, most of the tour guides did not inform anyone when they would get off the trolley that the sites at that stop were closed. On top of that, often you would have to wait for a trolley, instead of being able to enjoy whatever area you were in.....just to find out that the trolley was full. The you’d have to practically run to another stop in order to find a seat. The service was SIGNIFICANTLY too expensive for its value. Wish I could get my money back. Would not recommend!

We took the one day tour of Boston and thought the experience was great. Getting on and off we got to ride with several different guides and all were knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. We also did the add-on harbor cruise which I highly recommend, it was well worth the small additional cost.

We liked having a live narrator (who was also the driver, a little concerned about safety in that respect) and being able to interact and ask questions. I think we had three different drivers over the course of the day. Each had their own style, of course. One spoke very clearly and loudly, which my husband appreciated, as he has a hearing impairment, and even with his hearing aides in, it was hard to understand some of the other drivers. Lots of historical information about the city. Not so much about the city now, but they were helpful in knowing what was open and what was not. The drivers looked out for the riders' safety and frequently reminded riders of the mask law. They were mindful of not making strangers sit next to each other due to COVID-19.

The key ingredient to all of these tours is the tour guide. Some are too much, some are not enough. Some too many personal notes, and some too many dry facts. But... they get you around to all the key spots on your own schedule because they are hop on, hop off. I love them!

This is one of my least favorite hop-on & hop-off tours, I‘ve done so far. For one, this is due to the fact that Boston is far more attractive by foot than by bus. And the tour is only available in English, because it’s narrated live. This isn’t a bad thing per se, but we had two drivers who were just plain lousy. Driver “Mike” pattered facts of no interest, and driver “Papa Jim” was hushing everyone up who dared to speak while he was talking. This was ridiculous!

  • 1/5 Melissa R. 4 years ago on Google
Way too much money for a trolley ride.

  • 4/5 Jacquelyn M. 4 years ago on Google
The guides are great and what the tour goes to is really interesting but the fact that they don’t have an app that lets you track the location of the trolley and expected arrival times makes it much less useable. You can see it coming in the distance but it doesn’t wait long and there’s no way to tell the drivers in advance to expect people hopping on so they’ll wait more than 60 seconds. They tell you to call and they’ll figure out how far away it is. We did that and either missed it bc they were closer than we were told or waited for 20 mins longer than the expected arrival time. Much easier to hop off than hop on. We ended up walking a few times because it was faster than waiting an unknown amount of time. An app where you can track it live and see how many trolleys there are running & tell in advance who is getting on/off would make this 5 stars. It’s like 3.5 now but rounding up to 4 because of the guides.

The drivers have great stories and are kind. Willing to give great recommendations. I highly recommend if you come to Boston or any city where Trolley tours has trolleys.

I recommend this for sightseeing in any place you go. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. You get to see the area without the traffic and finding parking. Most are hop on and off, so you can explore where you want in more detail where you want.

Love this park. It's beautiful, except for the dogs constantly running around without a leash and pooping all over what they call MEDAL OF HONOR PARK. Shame on you... You know who you are.

It has been under construction for some time now and the only thing it is can be used for is dogs. The playground was very nice but it is gone and no one seems to know when it will be finished

Really enjoyed our time on the trolley tour as a first timer to Boston. The trolley was extremely comfortable and it was easy to find seats. We took the package that had the harbor cruise included in the price and I would definitely recommend paying the extra $10 for it. -1 star since there is not great information about what stops are open and closed at the moment except for a small line on the website map. We were staying in Cambridge and were hoping to be able to catch the trolley over into downtown Boston, but due to construction (I think?) they were not serving their Cambridge stop at the time of our tour. It would be amazing if they had a mobile app/website feature to be able to see where each trolley is and how long approximately it would be until you would be picked up.

Great tour of a few of Boston's many highlights. Our guide and driver Hercules was fantastic! He had an awesome joke to history ratio and we actually decided to ride the whole tour with him before jumping off at the stops, just to get his tour. Would 100% recommended.

Hop on off can be bad. Or they can be great. This one is great. The guides are interesting some funny some serious but all care and love their job. The tour is perfect for seeing all of Boston and really identifying things you want to see and do the most. They are all super nice and professional. Would give it a higher rating if I could. It's the definition of an extra credit place.

We spent a few days in Boston over the New Years weekend holiday. The trolley tours were so convenient but also entertaining and informative! Our guide, Crafty, was the absolute best. We’ll be looking forward to coming back soon!

Got the three day passes so we experienced many tour guides, each with a slightly different style. All were helpful but the fellow named "Regan" was absolutely the best. He's clearly a local who knows Boston, past and present. He was a walking (driving) encyclopedia of Boston. Also, we appreciated his professional delivery during the tour, since we don't really need the humor or entertainment provided by some well-intentioned tour guides. Really learned a lot on his tour.

So much fun! We did the whole tour with Crafty the first day, and did most of the tour with Big Wheel the second day. They were super fun and very informative, we learned a lot. Definitely recommend if you’re visiting for a few days! It’s a great way to see the city.

Old Town Trolley Tours is a great way to see the city, if you're looking to get around, and not necessarily have to do a whole lot of walking, or want to be stuck underground in the MBTA. Bug, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about the city, and he had a soothing voice while he drove us around town narrating about the sites as well as the history of Boston. He was friendly and personable, making the ride much more interactive and enjoyable then expected. Unfortunately we took this tour during the cold season and the windows were rolled down. Because the windows were plastic it was difficult for us to take any good photos. Currently if you wish to tip the driver/tour guide it is a cash basis only. The company could maybe provide the drivers a Venmo opportunity to receive tips in case people do not have cash.

I have been on the trolley tour 2 separate times while taking different people to visit a family member. Each time has been a delight. We definitely had favorite tour guides. Notably Magoo and Crafty were so fun and knowledgeable. A tour guide can make or break an experience. Crafty and Magoo are those guides we will remember when taking about the fun times we had.

We had a great time using the trolley. Our first guide, Matty, was very entertaining, helpful, and knowledgeable! I highly recommend the tour, with the added benefit of being able to hop on and hop off the trolley as needed, if you're visiting Boston or live nearby and haven't learned much of the town's history. All of our friends recommended this as one of the top things to do when visiting for our first time. They were right!

Convenient way to tour Boston attractions. Getting an entertaining yet informative driver guide with a good audio setup is key to an enjoyable touring experience and keeping chatter to a minimum. Luckily you can switch buses at different stops through the day. Check out their attractions deals.

Had a great time with this tour. It takes about 2 & half to 3 hours to do a full loop depending g on the day & time. We were there on a Friday that had 3 different sporting events going on so traffic was busy. The trolley drivers are professional & work off of a script as I heard 3 differe t tour drivers with the same lines, but each brought their own style. Relatively cheap tickets to be able to go around Boston & tour all the major tourist areas & you can get on & off at the stops as much as you want. Highly recommend doing. You can see Old North Church, Paul Rever's house, USS Constitution battleship to name a few.

Loved the summer nights tour. Not as much history as we hoped but so cool to see Boston at sunset and see so much activity and cool places around Boston. Could do without the musical accompaniment with the driver’s dialog and no way to control this but a group of 24 people not paying attention to the driver and talking loudly was a big distraction. Since you reserve in advance, you cannot avoid that. Did a Friday night and between seeing cool restaurants, thriving city life, and a few neighborhoods we want to visit, it was a great option for a first night in Boston.

This is THE WAY to see Boston! Our tour guide, J, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, she was an amazing guide through the city. We loved being able to hop on and off the trolley whenever we wanted and it was a great way to travel without having to walk everywhere. We learned a lot about Boston and the history of the city, the architecture, and the people there. 1000/10 would recommend!

Excellent tour! Had several drivers including Captain Matty, Bailey, J, and Gonzo... they were all extremely knowledgeable about the area and super funny!! If you're in Boston, by sure to take this tour. It's a great way to learn all the history of Boston and surrounding areas!
