It's a pity this stylish European style City Hall edifice is not used for its purpose any more. Instead, it's a high end steakhouse inside. However, from a historic point of view it's an interesting spot to stop while walking the Freedom Trail. It's next door down the road from the King's Chapel. In its courtyard you'll find a Benjamin Franklin statue and a donkey statue along with magnificent architecture.

The Old City Hall of Boston has been partially converted to a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. I cannot think of a worse thing to repurpose an old building as. There are views of the cemetery where Paul Revere is interned from the bar. It is clearly a place put here to suck in the tourists. And it worked. They got me. I was hungry and went right in. I could have found a local bar or something. But here is the Old Courthouse and a Chain Restaurant. No Bueno!

Beautiful french second empire style building that was once Boston's City Hall. You can now dine in the old Mayor's office for a unique experience.

(Translated by Google) The Old Town Hall is one of Boston's most important historic buildings. But the majority of tourists, tired of excursions, pay attention not to her, and not even to the monument of the great Franklin, but to a bronze donkey, on which young people climb in clusters. And the poor donkey suffers everything. He is a symbol of endurance and for this has become a symbol of the US Democratic Party.

The Old City Hall in Boston, witnessed during a cold and dreary weekend, is a sight to behold. Although we didn't venture inside, the exterior's timeless beauty and impeccable preservation left a lasting impression. Its architectural grandeur stands as a testament to Boston's rich history and cultural heritage. The ornate details and majestic façade evoke a sense of awe, making it a captivating landmark to admire from the outside. This historic gem adds an enchanting touch to the city's landscape, reminding visitors of Boston's storied past and architectural splendor.

The whole white housing with the statue of Franklin and Donkey/Elephant steps. Strongly recommend visitors to take a look here!! In front of this City Hall, you will find Latin School Mark on the street.

Classic and historical. Building is now used for business. Some people are performing outside by the walkway. Definitely no parking space. Find a garage

While walking the Freedom Trial, you'll no doubt pass Boston's Old City Hall. This towering building was constructed around 1865, and features a statue of Benjamin Franklin out front. The outside is shaded by tall trees and very photogenic. History buffs will definitely want to stop and take out their cameras, read the inscriptions on the statues, and enjoy the moment.

Our sixth stop during our Freedom Trail walking tour. Another good but short stop, mainly for pictures and history. The grounds were open but the building itself was closed when we visited during a public holiday. Why this place is significant -- 1) It used to house the Boston Latin School, the oldest public school in the US. 2) The school has some really famous alumni, including Benjamin Franklin and John Hancock.

The Old City Hall kept a nice appearance and even withstanding the toughness of times. Built over Boston's first public school premise, it now thrones in its place as well as a statue of Josiah Quincy, a mayor in the 19th century. It can be visited as a historical landmark.

This place is very nice. It does not look that big from outside of the gate but once you get past that you realize that it is very large. I love how they kept a lot of nostalgia from the original building and fused it with new elements. I was here mostly for dinner at Ruth Chris but wow if I had the time to look around a bit more I would definitely do that. I think it's an area that should be an attraction whether you are a local or a tourist. Check this place out! It is great and it is at a great location in Boston as well.

The Old City Hall is a national landmark located on School Street. The present building was constructed between 1862 and 1865 in French Second Empire architectural style, one of the first such examples in America. This is nice to see as are some of the monuments in the courtyard in front of the building. First, this is the sight of America's first public school, the Boston Latin School between 1704 and 1748. If interested you can see a nice mosaic plaque along the School Street footpath in front of the Old City Hall. One of the school's first students, Benjamin Franklin is recognised with a monument here as well. There is fellow statue to Boston's second Mayor Josiah Quincy that is worth seeing as is the bronze donkey seen here. Created by Florentine sculptor Antonio Frilli. This is the symbol of the Democratic political party in the United States. Note: The Old City Hall is located between King's Chapel and the Old Corner Book Store. It is worth stopping for 5-10 minutes to enjoy the building architecture and the monuments on site. Then you can proceed to the next round of Freedom Trail sightseeing.

I love that building! Second Napoleonic French Empire. Renovated in the 1970's actually spareheading saving the facades and exteriors of Boston's classic structures in new construction.

Boston City Hall serves as the center of government for the City of Boston. Built in 1968, the design firm Kallmann, McKinnell, and Knowles committed to a brutalist style for the new city administration building.

Lived in MA for 60 years and didn’t know the old city hall still existed. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was when I came across it walking around the city. Incredible that it was replaced with a Brutalist monstrosity. The two buildings are a perfect metaphor for the decline of Massachusetts.
