Cool place. Lots of interesting history there. Both pre-war and after the apocalypse. Especially two great battles that occurred around 210 years after the world ended. During both of those greats battles the minutemen (aka settlers) somehow managed to fight back many human looking robots from the greatest scienetific institute in the commonwealth and also soldiers with power armor, good weapons and a great deal of military training.

Nice place to come and watch the harbor. It's interesting to see the boats come back and forth and see the planes landing at Logan Airport in the distance. The breeze off the harbor is really relaxing. Dogs are allowed on leash. There is a restaurant on premise that you can order from if you're so inclined. The view is expansive (hence the fort) and a great way to spend an afternoon.

This place had some nice views but it was not open when we went and apparently there are limited times you can actually go into the fort. There is a kids park and you can walk around when it’s closed.

It was closed and in renovation when we visited however the ground itself was awesome.

This is one of my all time favorite spots on Earth. I have been visiting Fort Independence since as far back as I can remember (the late 1970s) and I visit every time I return to Boston. I recently brought my teenage kids and we had so much fun playing where I did when I was half their age. My grandmother used to bring me to play in the very same park and though she passed before meeting her grandkids I know she would have been thrilled to see so much happiness.

The place appeared to be clean & well maintained/landscaped. Lots of picnic tables & waste receptacles. You can't go in the fort which was a bummer... and the people there were all really gross & annoying. The views however were very beautiful. I went during sunset and would definitely recommend that time.

Fort was not open but was nice to view from the outside. Especially enjoyed the view of the cannons. Also enjoyed watching the containers being moved next door. The walk around the lagoon.

It is beautiful but rather a short walk. The castle itself is not open, but there are few tours available to book around sept.

A great place to walk and, think clearly. Watch the airplanes. A wonderful place to watch the sunrise and, 🙌marvel at God's Creation for us. Thanks to all the people who work so hard overseeing and maintaining the beach and, grounds and bathrooms, keeping them flawless and clean. Thanks to Sullivan's for a marvelous summer. Blessings to you🙏 we appreciate you all.

Being next to the water and having so much green space lends this area to being a great place for picnics and just hanging out, enjoying the outdoors. However, I am a little disappointed that we cannot explore the interior of the fort.

Visited Fort Independence on a Saturday and it was great! It's a historic site with a good view of Boston Harbor and the planes landing at Logan Airport. There are free guided tours happening during weekends 12PM-3PM on the hour (from late-spring to fall), and you would have to wait for one of these tours in order to enter the fort itself on a weekend. But the staff there are very knowledgeable and welcoming - they're all volunteers. This is a nice place to check out in Boston.

Went here for the DAV5k and its a sight to be seen, such a interesting place to go and visit with the history behind everything. Make sure you bring a jacket the winds for the ocean make it pretty cold if you aren't in the fort.

Fort Independence is a granite bastion fort that provided harbor defenses for Boston, Massachusetts, located on Castle Island. Fort Independence is one of the oldest continuously fortified sites of English origin in the United State circa 1634

Wish you could go inside! Ample parking! Yummy cafe! Large walking area! Play ground! Kinda dirty gross bathrooms, but hey there’s bathrooms. We missed the ships firing. Would have been cool if they left info signs up near or about. Maybe even pictures of what it looked like from the inside.

I signed up to run the DAV 5k because the finish line was inside Fort Independence. I finished a personal best 22:50 and was able to hang out inside the Fort afterwards.

Perfect place for summer time outdoor activities. Picturesque back drop of water along with lush green grass. Would definitely plan for picnic next time!! Bonus point if you wanna watch flights land!

Nice place to walk around. Dog friendly too which is always a plus. Grass is nice. I’ve been here during all seasons and it’s a nice way to get outside and get some fresh air. Although it can be very very windy so be prepared for that

My favorite place to walk in summer, beautiful bay view, dog walk, running, jogging and low flying airplanes, you might witness a big BA Airbus 380. Best thing is abundant parking spaces all over the bay, beach and fort. No issue of parking tickets.

Stepping into Fort Independence was like taking a leap back in time. The rich history of the fort resonated with us, and we found it to be an enlightening experience. We loved sharing the history of this fort with our children and then spent a little time watching the airplanes. For a truly special experience we visited Fort Independence as a family on the 4th of July to watch the USS Constitution's annual turnaround, 21 cannon solute, and the 21 cannon reply from the Fort.

Missed the chance to go inside the fort, but the park grounds were a great place to walk around and get some fresh air on a 4th of July morning.

A jewel in the Boston parks system. There is airplane watching, a scenic 2 mile loop and great views. Best of all is it's free.

Waste of time if you want to learn any history about the fort. No landscaping, no plaques or information anywhere around the fort. People only come here to eat food from the reaturant nearby. Its such a disappointment. Mass DCR should take a look at what the folks at Fort Ticonderoga have done, with every step you are immersed in the history of the fort and the area. With all the money the state of Massachusetts has, there is no excuse why this historic landmark is so awful and uneducational.
