As soon as the doors opened 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour, each person was given a card describing someone who was present at the original Boston tea party. The actors are dressed in colonial attire and are kind, well-mannered, well-informed, and fun! Children as well as adults all seemed to have a great time; there was a great sense of camaraderie is though we were all in on the plot together! I appreciated the blend of hands-on experience, creative presentation and short films. There isn’t a lot to see in the museum in terms of quantity, but I felt I got my money’s worth in terms of the overall experience. I’m glad that I made the time for it. I did also pay just under four dollars for the tea tasting experience, sampling the five types of teas that were tossed overboard that fateful night. I enjoyed the novelty of the tea tasting.

Absolutely worth the money! Loved the actors in costume and being given a character to play. Photos are ok to be taken everywhere except in the museum. The story is animated in various ways and media. So cool. The tea is delicious- I bought some and other treats at the gift shop. Really spent a very enjoyable two hours here.

Definitely too pricey ($32 x adult) for the 1 hour tour. A special shout out to the actor (4/22 2PM East meeting tour), he was so passionate and professional with the speech, it felt so real. Great job! There are plenty of souvenir options at the Gift shop, make sure to stop by before leaving. It was also worth it the tea tasting experience, you pay $8 something and they give you a cup so you can try all the 5 different teas, and you also take home a souvenir mug of the museum!

All i could say is that the fee you pay here is totally worth it! Experience for yourself to be more patriotic and see how america has started. Has a restaurant inside. No parking. Not really a stroller friendly place. Accepts credit/debit. Has a souvenir shop too. Buy your ticket in advance for convenience, they could move you earlier or later as long as the crowd allows, they are really accommodating.

Amazing! Some actors dressed in colonial-era clothing relive and recount the historic moments that marked the Boston tea party revolt. Really very interesting to have the opportunity to relive this moment and learn a little more about one of the first historical moments that led to the American revolution and the country's independence. Really, the most interesting thing is the work of the guides who make the story come alive and during the entire tour they participate in the staging, making you feel like you are living in that historic moment. My son really loved tossing the tea box overboard! As I said, this way of making the visitor participate in the historic moment is very exciting and lively! I really recommend it! A museum with a proposal very different from many I've visited!

It was a nice interactive experience to visit the place, along with family and guests from Canada. The historical characters and events, like throwing tea, are narrated innovatively, as if live. I was assigned as Henry Prentiss, a merchant, operating a shop near Boston Massacre venue Abigail's Tea Room and the tour of the various sections of the ship was fantastic. The tickets are expensive; being part of American Independence history should be subsidized to induce interest in the young generation.

Boston tea party, what an excellent bit of American history. Must see for the entire family. Great actors and enactments. The tour is about an hour long. Allow time for the team room tasting/goodies and gift shop. “Give me liberty or give me death (Patrick Henry, 1775).” Thank you for all those dedicated to Americas freedom. How easily we forget freedom is only one generation from extinction.

The best $30 I spent in Boston. Historical details from live, entertaining guides, a chance to throw some "tea" in Boston harbor, updated presentations with video and animation and displays of real artifacts from the Boston Tea Party! The gift store is loaded with unique, quirky, beautiful items to remember your trip to Boston. Everyone was very helpful and professional.

Best attraction in Boston!! Attend the Boston Tea Party in person. A combination of live performances, a guided tour through a Pilgrim style ship, a theatrical hologram display, a small museum area with a tea crate on display, and a short video that's very well put together. The actors are phenomenal and the ship is very cool. The indoor museum is original and entertaining. I also loved the gift shop area and tea tasting room. Tea tasings are super cheap and you get a to-go cup to take tea with you. They also have various other beverages and pastries than can be purchased. I would gladly visit again!!

This place was AMAZING. Not only is there a fantastic performance, you have the interactive portion where visitors get to throw tea into the harbor, there’s informative re-enactments, and ACTUAL pieces of history preserved at this amazing museum. 10/10 across the board. Honestly the price is phenomenal for the experience. Shout out to the performers of the 2:30 session on Friday. They were engaging, fun, entertaining, and seemed so passionate. We had an amazing time! What an excellent start to our trip in the city.

Such a fun and cute experience!!! You get a whole tour of the ships with a tour guide and then your group gets to throw "tea" into the harbor! It's so fun. Also nice that they have a museum for people to learn and see some history. The gift shop is really nice too, I got a ton of nice gift items when I came

This tour is a must!! The Boston Tea Party Ship and Museum has to be one of the most amazing tours ever. Reenactments, realistic hologram portrayals, participant interactions, and the coolest of it was the history coming to life. I don’t want to ruin any surprises in that but you will have to check it out. The ship was surreal and super informative. My daughter had just learned about the Boston Tea Party in school so it is perfect timing.

There are many fun activities. This is an interesting place to go when you come to Boston, especially with your kids and family members. Great experience in the museum and on the ship actually. I recommend you guys use TripAdvisor to buy tickets to make sure you have them on the date you come. They might be full, especially in the summer due to travelers and kids are free go around then. By the way, the souvenir store on the 1st floor and cafeteria on the top floor are good places that you should get in too. Have a good trip guys.

A trip to Boston is only complete with this on the itinerary! LOVED that they stuck strictly with history and did not add any modern political messages. The staff did such a fantastic job, and making us a part of the entire experience was just over the top! HIGHLY Recommend a stop here!

We took two friends from the UK with us and they Loved it as much as we did! Great interactive live action environment with costumes!! We went into the belly of an old ship! Ridiculously cool! The media was high tech and well done… the Tea afterwards was delicious and the dining hall was just delightful. Loved all of the amazing things for sale in the gift shop! All around WELL worth the money, especially if you have kids, they Loved throwing the big tea boxes over the side of the ship! FUN!

The Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum is an interactive exhibit. When you first arrive, you are greeted by a cast member. Sam Adams was the cast member who greeted me upon my arrival. Next they show you into a meeting room where you are provided a card with the identity of a tea party participant. Some people get called during the reenactment to participate based on which historical figure they were. Samuel Adams gives an impassioned speech about taxation without representation and the plan is formed to throw the tea in the harbor. Next everyone is led down to the ship and can tour either the Eleanor or the Beaver which are replicas of 2 of the 3 ships involved in the Boston Tea Party. The culmination of the tour occurs when each person has a chance to “throw” tea into the harbor. There is a single wooden box that has survived and is on display inside the museum. The final aspect of the tour is a video on Paul Revere’s ride and the initial confrontation at Lexington. There is Abigail’s Tea shop where visitors can get a cup of tea or other snacks. They also have a large gift shop with a large variety of souvenir items. I highly recommend this museum and loved how interactive it is.

So, at face value, the tickets seem a bit pricey for what might be a cheesy experience—but the hour you will spend going through the experience they offer is worth it! Take a walk back through the Boston Tea Party event with talented and interactive actors and learn new things about this country’s history unless you are already a deep history buff—and even then you might learn something new, even if just a new perspective! The snacks were tasty and the gift shop had a nice offering of different items for all budgets. Make sure and schedule your reservation ahead and show up about 15 min early.

Great experience, totally worth the 34$ and potential wait for the guided tour. The guides wore historic clothing and did a lot of acting with engaging the group into the play. You got to learn a lot about the historic event of gaining the independence of US in a fun and interesting way. Totally recommend!

It is a great activity to do when in Boston. Not only was this educational, but also entertaining. We were able to get tickets right before the next attraction took place. I liked that this was available as I only learned about this through history books when younger. It's fun to actually be here first hand to experience it in person. The staff were in character for the entire attraction.

*If my review is helpful, please click on "Like" 👍🏾 and follow my account. Thank you!* We had an unplanned visit to the museum - we actually just wanted to see where the Boston Tea Party happened, and stumbled upon this museum! There's a tour that takes about 45 minutes, but completely worth it - you get the full history of why the Boston Tea Party happened, the events leading up to it, and why it was important to the American Revolution. It's a combination of re-enactment, movies and some other cool tech stuff. You also get to throw some boxes of tea into the harbor! Kids had a great time, and so did we!

Great museum to learn about the tea party. Very interesting tour too. All of the staff was very joyful and informative. It is definitely great place for families. They also have a very nice gift shop and a place to get tea pastries. I think it is cool that everyone gets a role in the story too.

Amazing experience! Worth the price! The staff is very knowledgeable and the artifacts and presentations are amazing! They have an original tea box from the Boston Tea Party! They make you feel as if you were really there! The movie is very well done (although, it does have some intense drama that might be a little concerning for children).

One of the best attractions in Boston. Guides were in period and authentic. Very moving rendition of this part of our history. Enjoyed the tea room with a sampling of teas of the same variety as the ones that were on the original ship (3.95 for a cup to sample as many and as much as you want) with pastries available for purchase. A charming gift shop that you can visit first if need to fill time before your timed ticket) We purchased tickets online but still waited about 1.25 hours to get in but were there during marathon weekend so they were super busy.

The staff were in character the entire time they spoke with us. I enjoyed the re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party was fun and a great way for my teen to learn about history. The boat time is very short. But so worth committing treason, ha ha ha ha. If you want to know history in a fun way, this is fun.

For a 1 hour tour, at a reasonable price, you get history, performance, and and great experience. Transport back to 1773 as you become immersed in events leading up to (and ultimately) the Boston Tea Party… one of the single-most events leading up to the the colonists defying British rule, and ultimately the Revolutionary War. Period actors will take you back in time and you can even partake in tossing tea overboard (awesome for kids).

What an amazing slice of History! Took the whole family on a road trip from Texas up the East Coast. This was on the short list of places that we had to visit. I am super excited that we did because it is great to have that renewing of your history. There is a tour that has live action characters that is just fantastic. There are times i was moved to tears and got chills. So many amazing bits of our history that many have no clue about. It is a little bit of a puzzle that the place that had the stronger right movement in the history of the United States is now one of the most left leaning places in the country. ...

As a History teacher, I bring a group of students (and parent chaperones) to Boston every year. The Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum is ALWAYS a favorite stop!! Here you'll learn about the history of our country in a fun and exciting way, interacting with actors in full colonial costume and literally throwing chests of tea into the harbor. The museum is incredibly well done, encouraging visitors to consider pre-revolutionary events in Boston from multiple perspectives. Highly recommend!

As a history buff, I was so excited to visit. The staff were friendly. The price did not match the experience for me. The only thing I learned was that the building does not stand in the location where the event actually happened. It was nice to walk in a replica of the ship that was part of the event. In addition there is no actual tea dumping. If you do not know anything about the event then I would recommend it.

Great tour of the founding of the greatest country in the world. Makes you realize how dedicated and passionate the founders of America really were about freedom and independence from a King who saw us as property and another source of income to fund the British Empire. Tour guides are fantastic and really tell the story and include some of the guests as part of the show. Well worth the trip.

This was so much fun. Every cast member did an incredible job. You can tell each and every one was passionate, knowledgeable, and having fun. The crowd participation parts of the tour were super fun and kept the energy up. It wasn't just lecture, it was a blast. The tour was very hands on and interactive, which made it feel very alive. I learned a lot while having fun. I would absolutely recommend it to someone who's coming to Boston for the first time. Coming off the Amtrak and walking over set the tone for our vacation. Must see

Recommended. One must participate to have fun, and also learn. It is a one-hour experience all together. It offers dramatization that informs about the historical event. I'd say it's a little pricey, but I was more than satisfied with the experience. I even purchased souvenirs (very unlikely from my part...lol.). Maybe if the tea tasting, something that one must do during a rainy afternoon anyway, were included it'd be a different feeling. Please take your kids and participate. My favorite part was the assembly, though others in my party didn't like it...lol. There is a moment on the ship replica (nice), some screening and museum, and finally a short movie. Well now, I'm off for a cup of tea.

Incredible place full of history. As with many places throughout Boston, I get chills standing in the same places our founding fathers once stood! This is yet another. Fun for singles, couples, friends or the whole family. Reenactments, food, drink, gift shop, and you can even throw tea into the harbor! Currently however, keep in mind, space is limited due to Covid19 and wait times are longer than usual 😕 Otherwise, this is a must see spot in your time in Boston! 🇺🇸☕🎉

We pre-purchased tickets in a package in the morning and arrived around 2pm to be told that they weren't selling any more tickets for the day and we wouldn't be able to enter even though we had already paid for our tickets. There were several other families there at the same time having the same problem. The company we bought the tickets through is supposed to issue a refund but that doesn't help the fact that we wasted over an hour dealing with this on our one day in Boston when we could have spent the time elsewhere. In my opinion you shouldn't sell tickets through 3rd parties if you aren't able to manage the number of tickets sold and turn people away who have spent time and money to see the museum. Very disappointed in how this was handled.

Cute interactive museum with skits and movies. Some of the video effects are very realistic. Nice value for a 1+ hour. Whole experience is not wheelchair accessible. For example the boat is accessible with a cane but a walker may not be a good choice. Gift shop and tea house and museum are all one floor. Smaller children may enjoy the children's museum on the other side of the bridge; within walking distance. Children 8+ will find interesting items. One film has muskets and scenes of battle reenactment which may be unsuitable for some people. Gift shop has items for year long gifts, including 5 types of tea which were served in the tea house.

This was the most fun museum experience I've had in a long time! The $30 admission cost may seem high, but it was very worth it for having such an immersive experience with actors and actresses. The tea room is a great stop for before or after your tour; you can taste the five types of tea that were dumped overboard. I had a very relaxing time sampling the teas and enjoying a cookie. I even had to buy a bunch of tea to take home!

This was truly an experience. You are given characters and there is a storyline the entire time. You go from the town hall to the ship to the museum and then to a little theater. The tour guides are fantastic. Highly highly recommend this unique experience.

It was very interesting and fun place to visit in Boston! They preserved historic buildings and ships well. They even dressed up and acted like the old history people when it was very cold weather 🥺 I really felt like I was in that moment of tea party on December 16th, 1773! 🙏 This museum was a place even for those with no knowledge of history. I gained history

Absolutely loved this place! We didn't know what to expect since we were on vacation and it was our 1st visit to Boston but you are missing out if you skip this museum. You don't even have to be a history buff to enjoy this one. It's interactive and informative. Great job to all of the staff for making it a memorable experience for me and my bf.

So fun!! The actors are highly knowledgeable and so much fun to interact with. In town for work and went alone and ended up being the only one in the group ha. They had a blast with me though and I learned so much!

This is a must if you are in Boston and like history. The actors are very good and interactive, kids loved it.. I won't say anymore so not to spoil it. Gift shop is great as well. Didn't have any tea in the tea shoppe but it did look lovely.

Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum was an incredible experience! Actors are dressed in colonial attire and take you on an reenactment journey that is worth every penny. I’m not one to usually enjoy museums but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend this as a sight to visit, especially for families

Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum Located on the Congress Street Bridge, the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum is an interactive, high tech, floating museum. Unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before, this unique museum sits on a barge in the water, includes tours on restored tea ships and a stunning, interactive documentary that immerses you into the events that led up to the American Revolution. Touch, feel, see and hear what the patriots felt when their passions and angers flared at the injustice of taxation without representation. Participate in multi-sensory exhibits, witness dramatic reenactments by professional actors and historians and discover the true story behind the Boston Tea Party. Source: trolleytours.com

Our favorite stop while touring Boston! Our kids really enjoyed the entire experience which is choreographed beautifully! We moved from one space to the other seamlessly and I really appreciated the guides who really played their roles perfectly. We got to toss tea in the harbor and even sample the same types of tea that were tossed overboard. We purchased our tickets with the Old Town Trolley Tour through the website for a discount so if you’re looking to combine a few sightseeing excursions this might be a good option for you as well.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our excursion here at the Boston Tea Party Museum. The museum, storytelling, and technology were remarkable. Excellent work by the employees and management. Safety before tyranny and permission before documentation. This museum exceeds our expectations for accessibility.

Wonderful historical tour! These actors are amazing! They put so much effort into giving a fun, informative tour! The kids in our tour group had so much fun throwing the boxes of tea overboard! Puts a lot into perspective. Definitely buy your tickets to this tour & enjoy! The tea room is also cute & they have a nice gift shop!

Staff were wonderful. They reenact parts during the time Era surrounding the Boston tea party. Depending on the crowd type you get during your tour kind of influences your experience during the tour. The staff does do their best to create a fun and entertaining vibe yet informative. Pretty small and short (lasted only an hour)

This experience was awesome. You get to see the last surviving tea crate from the actually Boston Tea Party, as well as a vial of tea that was recovered from someone's boot, and throw some tea overboard. You also get to watch a short informative movie that shows the events leading up to the Tea Party.

The actor and actress here are doing the fabulous job to bring you back the America’s history event. The cafe food were served in cold and doesn’t taste good but the museum shop and overall experiences were excellent! Get to know the details of America’s history event in person it’s really special experience.

Went over the weekend what a fantastic experience. The ladies did a wonderful job of setting the scene and adjusting to the audience. Learned more than a few new facts. The artifacts and digital actors were also well done. Well worth the money.

This is a must visit, and a fantastic, animated history lesson for all! The place enacts the entire history of the Boston tea party! And it instills the spirit of patriotism instantly. The gift shop is beautiful and very affordable. The museum exhibits will really blow your mind. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Boston as a must-do!

Really great tour / show. Great value for money. Must do when visiting Boston. Also enjoy their tea room where you can taste the 5 teas that were thrown over board and inexpensive soups, sandwiches and homemade cookies.

It was a wonderful interactive experience. The staff/characters were fantastic and made the experience all the better. Bringing History alive the way the Boston Tea Party Ship Museum does is a great way to learn about history. Being able to take part in the "town meeting" and "throwing tea" overboard was a real highlight. Keep up the great work team Huzzah!

I absolutely loved this! The actors really brought to life the history of the BTP and the surrounding events. The museum is so meticulously curated to really engage the participants. My friend and I were absolutely blown away by this and cannot recommend it highly enough to people, especially if you’re like us and only remember bits and pieces from middle school social studies about this time in history!

If you’re after an immersive, all-American experience, this museum is that spot! The actors are great and get you stuck in. It’s very well-done, lasting about an hour long but not feeling boring at all. Such a unique style of museum too.

The truth is that I didn't pay for the entrance to the museum because I came with an organized tour from New York so it was inside the ticket. So I don't know how much it costs, but you can check the website. Also, the place is cordial although when you enter it is very crowded and one must walk carefully because there are shelves full of cool but fragile souvenirs. I bought there special platelets for tea bags not very cheap cost, but it is something special for the kitchen. The service was very courteous and cordial.

This is a guided tour museum and takes about 1 hour. Learning more about the Boston Tea Party was super interesting! The tour is set up really nice as it follows the timeline of the events. I would highly recommend visiting!

Lots of interesting info, the actors are entertaining, the boat replica is cool, the display of an original tea box is cool also. There are a handful of different rooms they take you around to and act out parts of history and then watch a video. I really wanted to give this 5 stars. Here’s why I did not- not because of the content, but the way in which it’s presented. There is a lot of moving around between rooms and the boat. It’s a large group. The actor does not have enough time to wait for the entire group to come in to the room before he starts his monologue. So we missed the first couple of minutes in each room because we were always at the back of line. It was hard to follow everything because we were only catching bits and pieces. Also, in each room there are no chairs and it’s crowded, so 50-ish people are trying to squeeze into one room, try not to bump into each other or breathe on each other, and listen to what they’re saying. I think I caught maybe 70% of what they said. I would not go again and would definitely not spend the money on it. It would be helpful if the groups were smaller, the actor slowed down just a little bit (especially for the kids and older folks), and there were benches in each room.

We went on the Monday after Thanksgiving as a treat before returning home. This was my first time here, and I was pleasantly surprised by the interactive nature of the exhibit. Two of our tour group were selected to participate, and audience engagement was expected throughout. The re-enactors were all knowledgeable and entertaining - I am sorry it took me so long to come here, and more sorry I will miss the 250tn anniversary celebration planned.
