Tall ship Liberty Clipper, the best way to experience the Bahamas I can't imagine a better way to experience the Bahamas than our six-day sail on the tall ship Liberty Clipper. What we ate: seared fresh-caught jumbo shrimp finished in coconut milk and butter with ginger couscous salad, served on the beach; Chilean sea bass done to perfection for the final Captain's dinner. What we saw snorkeling: shark, grazing sea turtle, barracuda, big spotted ray, big black ray, freaky big lion fish, grouper. My wife and I, long-time snorkelers, enjoyed watching some first-time snorkelers discover the near-shore miniature fairylands under perfect conditions: white sand, shallow structure, brilliant sun lighting and excellent water clarity; before long they were out in the deeper water looking for those sea turtles. Liberty Clipper, modelled on the Baltimore schooners that sailed around Cape Horn, is the real thing. A single winch doubles as a capstan. Everything else is wood and iron and hand-hauled. When you volunteer to help hoist sail and they yell out 'heave,' do so, because it takes every hand on that main halyard to raise 1000+ pounds of sail and wooden boom. Sailing? It doesn't get any better than this: a couple of hours of 4-5 foot seas to remind us that the sea is no joke; two beautiful days on a beam reach in 15+ knots. Hats off to captain and crew. Complaints? I have none.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. My elderly grandfather and I had the most wonderful experience on the Liberty Clipper this afternoon. Before we boarded the boat, a kind crew member noticed his cane, and made sure he was specially tended to. The crew seems to be made of of a bunch of very special people who are dedicated to each other and to the ship they run. It was fun to watch them raise and lower sails, and to chat with them about Boston and their life on the ship. There's also a cash bar on board. ; ) Bring sunblock and a hat if you're sensitive.

Great scenic ride on the Liberty Clipper, well worth the money and informative. The crew is fantastic, they answered all of our questions and were very helpful. It was interesting helping hoist the sails, and seeing how a ship like that works. During the winter months they sail it down to the Bahamas and it stays there for the winter, I would love to go down there and spend a week on it! Definitely worth checking out!

My experience was AMAZING! Amazing weather but what better was the crew. Captin Austin ( in the picture) I talked to him all along the trip. He so awesome and friendly and I would definitely to go back there to share more experience with him. The rest of the crew u wasn’t able to get their name were amazing as well. They all fun and friendly and everyone on board loved them. Thank you again for this awesome experience!

We loved our Cocktails, Rum & City Lights tour! The city lights were beautiful from the boat and the atmosphere had a calming cocktail party vibe. I highly recommend this trip! But, but your drink tickets a head of time! They are cheaper online than on the boat.

Had a private charter on the Liberty Clipper 8/19/22. Captain Shakespeare and his crew were outstanding. Witty, informative and very helpful, they engaged with our party and made everyone at ease. We had several (at least seven) in our party who were using either rolling walkers or canes and the crew was very patient as they assisted everyone aboard. Our cruise was well timed. We were able to experience the USS Constitution's evening salute. I highly recommend a sail with Liberty Fleet. The only disappointing aspect was the approach to the ship. The walkway was uneven with many missing stones making passage difficult for those with disabilities. The walkway was also poorly lit after dark

A group of my friends and I were visiting Boston, and thought it would be fun to go on a sail boat in the harbor. We found Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships via Google. While the encounter over the phone when initially trying to gain some knowledge on the process and prices was a little dicey, our experience on the boat was wonderful. What I mean by dicey, is that information was not totally clear. What matters though, is that in the end, our group was accommodated, and we did have a blast on the ship. Our captain Lincoln, and the crew- Nico, Anastasia, and Tim were all so pleasant. They shared information about the ship itself, facts about different attractions on/in the harbor, and served snacks/beverages. The sailing experience was peaceful one. It was a really nice change of pace from the busy city of Boston.

Highly recommend! My family rode the Lady Clipper today, captained by Tom, aka Santa! The entire crew was so down to earth and personable. They shared their expertise of sailing with us as well as stories about their past sailing adventures. We just may be seeing them on a future Bahamas sail! Thanks for an amazing two hours! -The Benders from Long Island, NY

Nice relaxing sail around the harbor. No true destination other than views of the city, and sunset for evening trip, but enjoyed the natural atmosphere of the old-time sailboat.

Was a nice sunset cruise. Easy to book, easy checking in and boarding. Was neat to help haul up the sails and have them catch wind a little (sails/wind uses mostly for turning). Would have liked a little more informative talking from the crew perhaps about the boat/sailing or even just the Boston scenery we were seeing. But overall nice!

What an awesome way to get to stay in the heart of Boston! Everyone onboard was extremely courteous and flexible. We needed a few scheduling adaptations and they were happy to work with us. Accommodations are Spartan, as they try to make clear to folks, bit everything is clean and functional. What more could you ask for?! I hope to do it again soon!

What an amazing time we had! From the first to the last moment, we genuinely enjoyed ourselves. The crew was amazing, and it was truly something special to be on a ship with so much history and beauty! We both had the opportunity to help raise up the sails, a once in a lifetime experience! The sunset was beautiful. If you're considering this, just do it, you will not regret it!

It was quite an awesome experience. The crew and our fearless captain were very friendly and informative. It was a nice, and inexpensive way to spend an afternoon out on the Boston Harbor, viewing Boston from a different perspective than most of us see it. I'm sorry I only have a couple of pics.. The rest were all videos!

Light winds on the day of our sailing were disappointing, but the charismatic crew certainly made for an enjoyable evening. The Captain entertained us with a variety of tales about sailing in general and Boston specificly. Our sunset cruise made for great photo opportunities!

Highly recommended! Two hours sail on a real wooden boat (don't understand why would someone do other tours instead of this one). Almost a private sail, affordable, great experience, so peaceful, nice and safe.

The crew was professional, friendly enough, and experienced, and it was fun that we got to help raise the mast. Over all a nice enough little trip around the harbor. The boat was very cool. We did the “A Sail Through Time" cruise as we like to learn about history, but we were disappointed by the narrator, Sally. She said she was a volunteer with some organization called Boston by Foot. While I mean no disrespect as she was clearly trying her best, she was not a particularly interesting or experienced public speaker. She told us a few stories she had gathered from her own research, and they were frequently unrelated to our surroundings (About people who were from Boston, but the stories taking place in California or China, instead of Boston Harbor). She pointed out Castle Island when we passed it and briefly mentioned that Edgar Allen Poe had been inspired to write 'The Cask of Amontillado" based on an event that had taken place on Castle Island...but then didn't tell us any more about it! There were long gaps between the stories where she stopped talking, and she often lost track of her own thoughts despite having note cards. If I had known that the tour was not going to be narrated by a professional, I probably would have passed on it. I would gladly pay more for a more experienced, knowledgeable tour guide with more relevant stories to share. If you're interested in a leisurely cruise around the harbor and couldn't care less about history, take one of the other tours. "A Sail Through Time' is better off skipped though.

Capt Rob was friendly communicative, knowledgeable and accessible. Crew went above and beyond in every area of customer service, boat operations, helpfulness, as well as drinks and Iguana Colatas🦎 Torrey and Amanda in the galley were kitchen magicians and we were spoiled with delicious hot meals 3 times a day.

I had a great 👍 time interacting with the crew as we talked about, well, other tall ships. Along with fellow passengers,we helped pull the sail into position as directed by the captain and crew. I believe I sailed on the Liberty Clipper. I was given a tour inside the living area by a crewman. It's a good ship, Charlie Brown! I was invited back by members of the crew. They also interviewed a passenger who was interested in becoming a member of the crew. There is a bar on deck and you can prepay in advance on their website. We sailed close to the Irish Navel patrol vessel James Joyce. We did get close to the USS Constitution. My only issue was the distance we traveled. We seemed to hang around the mouth of the harbor. I wished we traveled further. For a relaxing cruise, I recommend this company.

Was such a nice experience!!! 2 hours sounded like such a long time but once on the boat it flew by! My four-year-old daughter had such a great time it was her first time on a boat and the captain made her feel so special and let her steer the ship and everything, highly recommend! Being on this "pirateship" compared to all the other regular boats on the ocean was truly something special!!!

Took my parents on the clipper and it was a hit; scenic views of Boston the old fashioned way. You can bring your own food so would recommend getting sandwiches from one of the nearby shops (or even north end) and enjoy your food on the water! Departure point is right behind the aquarium; if you're looking at the aquarium box office, it's on a walkway immediately behind it

Overall, it was a matter of expectations. The crew was hard working and engaging. We thought it would be more educational and less "booze cruise" vibes. Also good to know that if at capacity, not everyone is getting a seat (yes, I realize people roam while aboard).

An excellent and unique experience to see Boston from the harbor view! Help hoist the sails, hold the steering wheel and act like a Captain of your very own! Definitely my favorite cruise I took while I was at Boston.

Don’t waste your time. We’ve taken a few cruises with this boat always hoping they will deliver what they’re website promises. We just did the rum tasting cruise and they reluctantly gave us a second tasting after asking multiple times, when the website says they do 3 tastings. Don’t hold your breath, you’ll barely get two tastings on a RUM TASTING sailing. It’s such a let down, don’t waste your time.

From booking our sail to being on board and finally disembarking everything was wonderful. This is a family owned and operated business who you can tell cares greatly for their employees. Everyone on the ship is pleasant to the guests as well as to each other. They are professional and do a great job to ensure you enjoy your time on board. I highly recommend this voyage to anyone visiting Boston.

Boston by Foot Historic harbor cruise on the Liberty Clipper: Because of COVID, they kept the capacity of the boat to <50%. Everything sanitized between trips. The ticket manager said our trip was closer to 30-40%. there were enough places to sit down at a distance from other passengers, and the ventilation (breeze on Boston Harbor) was excellent! Felt very safe and a lovely outing with the family.

We had the opportunity to do the afternoon cruise on the Liberty Clipper. We had the best time with the best crew getting to see the Boston harbor and the Boston skyline. It was an afternoon we will never forget and we appreciated the help from Matt at the ticket booth. Can’t recommend this fun Boston activity enough!! Also, try the “Dark n Stormy” drink during your cruise! Delicious!!

My husband and I came to Boston for an event. While here, we decided to sail out into the harbor on one of the Liberty tall ships. Our first excursion was at noon on Sunday. I cannot begin to tell you the fun we had. The crew was fantastic, warm and entertaining. Learned a few historical tidbits of information and greatly enjoyed the voyage. In fact, we enjoyed it so much, that booked a sunset sail later that evening. We had the same crew, thankfully! These three individuals are a great deal of fun. Skipper Kyle is very knowledgeable and will gladly answer any questions about the ship or the harbor. His mates, Alan and Brendan, were both entertaining and witty. The dynamic between these three men was perfect and I do not believe you could ask for a better crew! They are primarily the reason we booked again. The harbor: stunning, the Liberty Star: first class, the rum drinks: mouthwatering, and the crew: exemplary! Thankyou, Kyle, Alan and Brendan, for making our trips around the harbor (and my first adventure on a tall ship), the best! Hope to run into you three again!

Our Liberty Tall Ship cruise was in the cold, pouring rain. Not under their control, and they handled the trip beautifully, even giving us blankets. The crew of 3 were very friendly and knowledgeable and did their work cheerfully throughout the trip despite the weather. It was wonderful seeing Boston from the water, and we’re looking forward to coming back to Boston, when we’ll definitely book another Liberty Tall Ship cruise!
