Very peaceful very beautiful very soothing. It looked amazing from outside unfortunately as some private events were going on we were not allowed 🚫 to go inside May be next time. Timings say church ⛪️ is open Monday to Sunday 9 am to 5 pm. The monument is a architectural brilliance. It is a solid rock 🪨 structure with some use of glass. The door 🚪 specifically is so beautifully crafted (see pics to believe my words) . Magnificent garden and lake are infront of it. Church looks very grand just at the side of busy Jersey street. Limited parking is also available. Very nice temple, may god bless us all. See pics for more details. Thanks 🙏 😊

4/13/2021 When we were arriving Branch Brook Park for the Cherry Blossoms Festival, we passed thru this splendid Cathedral church. Since it’s right by a side of the park, why don’t we pay a visit to this church? So we visited Essex County Cherry Blossom Center and enjoyed the cherry blossoms all along Branch Brook Park Drive by Branch Brook Lake. Then up to the bridge above the lake we kept going for about a quarter mile, then we came to the church. I really admired the beautiful structure and all the details of the church building! Everything seemed so sacred and beautiful to me even though I am not catholic. I wanted to go inside to pay a visit but the doors were locked. When I walked along the left side of the church to keep admiring the building, I saw some signs on the side doors about the public time. And bravo! It’s open to prayers from 7:00am to 7:00pm during weekdays, and 8:00am to 1:00 on Sundays, 8:00am to 7:00pm on Saturdays. But oops, this door’s locked, too! Then I saw some people going inside another smaller door at the rear. So I decided to go there and see my luck. Haha, the door could be opened and it led to an office with staff inside. I asked if I could pay a visit to the interior, the answer was yes. All I needed to do was to sign in on the visitor log. So I felt blessed to be able to see the interior of the church! Once inside, I felt serenity and sacredness. And it’s breathtaking!! After visiting, I asked the staff if I could make a small donation, she pointed an Offering box hanging on the wall right by the exit. So I was happy to make an offering just for letting me see the beautiful interior! BTW, you can drive directly to the church and park on the street.

Resembling the great cathedral at Rheims, the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart located in Newark is designed in the magnificent French Gothic. It’s the fifth largest in North America with the second largest rose window in United States which my partner and I came this morning as tour guides. Upon entering, one immediately feel a sense of awe when you walk in with the beautiful sculptures, carvings, mosaics, and stained glass windows. Before leaving the area, we were able to glimpse the beginning buds of the cherry blossoms. Whether you are Catholic, religious or not, the amazing architecture is to be admired which we can recommend.

The architecture is absolutely stunning, the artwork and the craftsmanship is so very gorgeous inside. A must visit if you are anywhere nearby Jersey city. Looks like this place is super famous for the photo shoots. Roadside parking is available and I think they’ve got additional parking lots nearby. It’s a must visit, add this amazing place to your itinerary if you’re visiting Jersey city. Added some of my captures from this place below……

What a beautiful basilica! I was lucky enough to call and VOILA!... I was able to visit the same day and was completely alone there for a good hour. Um not very religious but I am spiritual and believe in something larger than me, us, everyone. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highly recommended to reboot your chakra or just be in the now!! The architecture really does make us wonder how amazing humans really can be!!!

I really want to share my experience. I went to this Basilica on a Sunday morning. After the mass, with all my friends we received the most amazing tour around the Basilica with a great man, David. I don't know anybody who knows more saints names and history about them than David. He explained each statute, every single detail inside the Basilica structure, inside and outside. He was awesome and did a wonderful job. I thank David for taking his time and giving us such an amazing tour.

Beautiful cathedral in Newark , The only reason I am giving 4 star is , it was closed for a wedding ! This is God’s house , which should open for everyone ! I understand the wedding but…. Anyway , hopefully next time I am in New Jersey if there is no other wedding I will be able to visit inside the cathedral

This is a sacred sanctuary regardless of religious affiliations. I’ve felt powerful solace and strength during my hardest moments of life just sitting in an empty pew. There are some special musical performances every so often that I have yet to see, but they look fabulous. Very grateful for opening your doors to everyone and I look forward to visiting once again to meditate in this gorgeous space.

We love shooting weddings at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Our team is there often and are very aware of the proper procedures they put forth for photography and video. Simply amazing.

This building is the fifth largest cathedral in North America, roughly the size of Westminster Abbey, stunningly beautiful, inside and out. It is 365 feet long and 161 feet wide. The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark. It is located at 89 Ridge Street in the Lower Broadway neighborhood of Newark, New Jersey. We were there on a silent quiet day, got the street side parking. We had recently come from the Europe trip and after seeing this, we are like " this church can compete with any famous church in Europe" and it was in the backyard of our county and we were not aware of this. The cavernous interior is very well maintained and is spotlessly clean. The architecture, the carved wood, the Chandeliers, the stained glass windows, the marble Carvings, the Statues, ornate Doors, and the 14 Mosaics depicting the Stations of the Cross, were all so magnificent that it made our jaws drop. The Altar made of Italian Marble is stunning. It has the largest Pipe Organ which includes 9000 pipes, 54 stops, and is playable from two consoles. Perfect and exact example of French Gothic architecture in the Western Hemisphere. The Cathedral Basilica is well worth a visit.

Beautiful church next to Branch Brook Park with cherry blossoms. The architecture is amazing. One of the entrances was blocked with chains and we didn’t know if we could enter. Really wish we could pay a visit and see the interior next time.

Absolutely beautiful Inside! Highly recommended for weddings,as the pictures turn out gorgeous! My only complaint would be that they don't offer any private parking so you have to park on the street. We had slight trouble finding a spot and the surrounding area isn't very nice. FYI bathrooms are on the 3rd floor (they do have an elevator)

Amazing work of Sacred Art and architectural detail. It reminded me of the churches in Europe. Went for Sunday Mass and unfortunately only had a very limited time to explore afterwards. Definitely a place you could spend a few hours. The Stations of the Cross are made with mosaics and the stain glass windows are stunning.
