Fantastic. The flavour combinations and complexity of the dishes were outstanding. Great value too. There were also a large number of dishes easy modified to be vegan with the service staff and chefs ready with a raft of adapted vegan and gluten free options.

“Something new we eager to get and some specific days worth to celebrate each time!”by Peter Lee I planned my wedding anniversary few months ago, I have no idea so I googled best restaurants in Brisbane. And I saw the gourmet magazine website have a post about top 10 restaurants in Brisbane 2022. So I review each restaurant and I make decision to choose Gerard’s Bistro to become my 3rd year anniversary restaurant. When we walked in restaurant, we get warmed welcome from lovely staff and one guy who I think is manager to come to ask if he can offer some champagne for us first and we also order sparkling water as beginning. According to entrée coming and surprised me and my husband and we’re lucky we can swap seat to indoor then keep enjoy our experience. Next couple dishes are amazing and each dishes just blow our mind and fabulous taste. Fabulous dining experience for celebrate some important day or friends come for gathering. Thank you all the staff and chefs offer me a lovely night to celebrate my anniversary. (I thought chef will come to chat with me but apparently no lol) Next time, please allow me to taste each gourmet from your page and I would like to write another review for each one who haven’t taste wonderful middle-eastern cuisine yet. Thanks!

Visited while I was on a trip by myself. Food was ok, not the best. The service was a bit rough and I didn’t feel welcomed there. There was no tip option while I paid my bill and I would rather prefer to tip and have a better service while I dine out rather than save little money and having a below average service.

My goodness - I’ve been wanting to go to Gerard’s for years ! We finally went last weekend for my birthday - happy days ! We chose to sit outside which was a lovely choice - the rain was pouring but with the filtered lighting and draped greenery surrounding us felt otherworldly 🍃 We ordered the $75 p.p and added on 4 oysters (the best choice ever) to go with our bottle of champagne - can I just say, close to the best oysters we’ve ever had, and that’s saying something ! The servings were well portioned, balanced and complemented each other - it is a plentiful array and a little on the rich side, but a real treat We finished the evening with a couple of zesty sidecars which were the perfect digestif Couple of observations - staff were stretched by 7.30-8pm but were still as attentive as they could be - a sign of the omicron capacity stress possibly - but it did slow things down considerably towards the end. I did comment in the booking and during the meal that it was my birthday but it fell on deaf ears, but alas, the meal experience itself is the treat Thank you Gerard for a lovely evening !

Gerard's bistro is unassuming but an unexpected surprise. The menu sounds simple, but every dish we tried had beautiful flavours. The swordfish was a highlight - perfectly cooked, and it was served with currants and nuts. Great contrast in textures and not something I've had before. I'm not even sure how, but they managed to make the vegetable dish (the dish we order because we feel obligated to, because you know, #health and #balance) taste good too! Our server was also really friendly and accommodating. Great work team!

4.5 ⭐️ - definitely one of my top restaurants! The ambiance and complexity of some of the dishes was spectacular. Service was top notch and the set menu ($130pp) was absolutely bang for buck. Didn't really love the oysters (didn't taste very fresh) & desserts. Everything else had fantastic flavour combinations. If you had to pick a dish I would highly recommend the 9+ stone axe wagyu! It has taken me a very long time to find a steak that doesn't break your bank. The quality, the marbling, the seasoning and the way it was cooked was 5/5 ⭐️ and it just melts in your mouth A side observation - outdoor seating isn't very ideal to walk in heels. It had a lot of gaps and also hard to see the pebble grounds (also uncomfortable to walk in)

We have been coming to Gerard’s for the past 6 or so years as our special events go to place dinner. Consistently a five star experience for food, cocktails, knowledgeable, yet unpretentious service and ambience. However we had a completely different experience tonight since the new fit out. Service was inexperienced and inattentive. Food was average compared to all our previous experiences. Even the renovation and new tableware felt cheap. The table was also dirty on arrival. I’m so disappointed because after a few failed attempts at other Brisbane restaurants this was always our go to. Unfortunately it is not the same high quality standard that we had come to expect from Gerard’s.

Good vibes, great service, plenty of free car park behind. The deco is great inside and out. The menu is simple and the food overall is good but I think for its price point, it may have missed its excellent mark. Some items were quite salty but it may be a personal preference there. The portions are quite small here too. Some remarkable items worth mentioning were the bagel and lamb - everything else weren’t bad, but weren’t earth shattering amazing too.

Overall food was great. Would have rated higher if we didn’t have to wait an hour for the main wagyu. If you let up to 30pp for private dinning, you should able to provide timely service for 30pp.

This was our first time at Gerard’s after a recommendation from a friend. We had amazing food and enjoyed every second of it! The cocktails were delicious and food was top notch. Service was also up to high standards. Every staff member we came into contact with were so lovely.

Great fine dining restaurant. Food was beautiful. We had the $130pp set menu and the food was presented well and mostly had great flavours. The Wagyu strip loin was incredible, but by far the dish that surprised me the most was the cabbage. It had a meaty, salty and charred flavour which I’ve never experienced and I could not stop eating it. However, most of the food I thought had the best flavour was on the $85pp set menu and I didn’t think the additional items on the $130pp set menu were that good. Nevertheless, still a great experience. Service was amazing as all staff were professional, friendly and attentive. Never was my wine glass left empty. Ambience was good and inside of the restaurant was quite nice.

We had a great experience. This was our second dinner in a row. The food is exceptional. Callin provides wonderful service. I definitely recommend the $130PP set menu; however, I'd also add the Skull Island prawns and the beetroot ice cream as it's amazing.

High tea here for my best friends birthday was made very memorable with good service and very nummy finger food. Elegant setting and ambiance. The only one thing I would like to suggest is that the big teapot per person was too much. By the time we’d finish one cup, the whole teapot would be slightly cold. Cold tea. Other then that, I love the whole experience and would recommend this for special accusation.

Gerard's Bistro surpassed all expectations with an exquisite culinary experience! The Barbari bread, adorned with reduced whey and oregano, accompanied by smoked labne, set the stage for a taste journey like no other. The Bateman's Bay rock oysters, kissed by erk soos vinegar, were a refreshing delight, and the S.A calamari, bazella tartlet, featuring hawaiji showcased a perfect blend of tenderness and flavor. Lebanese cured pork belly, was a masterpiece that left our taste buds in awe. Each dish at Gerard's Bistro was not only fabulous but also brimming with delightful surprises in flavor. A special shout-out to Chef Jimmy for orchestrating this symphony of taste! Kudos to a dining experience that truly elevates the palate.

We have been going to Gerard’s Bistro for many years however since their new refit and the loss of their existing chef the food and overall experience no longer met the expectations it once gave. Service was slow, and staff were inexperienced in the menu. The food is now overpriced and their attitude towards improving any of the above was non existent. We will no longer be returning to Gerard’s and will be making sure our family and friends don’t make the same mistake we did. Very sad for once such an amazing restaurant

Visited here on a wednesday night so there’s not much people which gives the place a private & romantic atmosphere. Food was good 👌🏻. The woodfired bagel is perfectly cooked and the booza dessert was a bomb! Didn’t know what it was when we ordered but I’m glad I tried it 😂. However, I find their wagyu steak pricey for its size & taste. Although it’s not bad, I’m expecting more from it because of the price range. But overall, it was a pleasant experience dining here! Our waiter was patient enough to explain the menu since we’re not familiar with most of the stuff. They have a good of selection of liquors as well to compliment with the food.

One of the favorite places around many on James street. Their food is always something interesting and tasty, regardless of type and time of the year. Tried both a la carte and set options number of times and they were always something new and wonderful. Staff is nice and helpful. Wine and beer selection is also good

My girlfriend says this was the best dinner experience she’s had in a very, very long time and I completely agree. We both had the set menu with the crab-a-ganoush add on and I was blown away. It was utterly amazing. All the flavors and combinations worked superbly well together. Definitely coming again. The champagne was a lovely touch too :)

Come here more than twice, if it easier to have reservations, I would come here more often!!! Always get the best bread and main. But maybe need a little bit improvement in the sweets. Anyway, I love it, it’s a magic restaurant which always give u surprise.

Gerard's is a great experience, and the food was fantastic. We had the 130pp tasting menu for a birthday celebration and the wagyu, scallops and cabbage were a real highlight. The tasting menu is delicious, and well worth the price. The restaurant itself is lovely and with the carpeted floor doesn't get too loud which is a welcome change from many other popular restaurants. My only small criticism is that the courses felt a bit rushed. We visited on a Tuesday night which was not particularly busy, but it still felt as though we were getting through our courses as quickly as possible. As soon as we put down our cutlery, the plates were whisked away and the next course arrived. 10m between each set of dishes would have really improved the experience for us as I feel like we didn't the time to appreciate each dish.

Such delish food in a lovely space on James street. The menu is quite exotic and interesting. The service was excellent and overall a wonderful dining experience. The bagel and sunflower hummus was divine and I also loved the coal baked broccoli. I would also get the gay time dessert again! Thanks for a lovely night

Overall it's a nice one to try but I'm not sure if I go again Walkers yellowfin tuna: amazing, try this if u r ok with raw fish Wood-fired laffa bread: a great taste of zaatar on bread Longreach lamb collar: tasty but too much fat for me Swordfish sh: loved it! Falls farm cabbage: a new taste of cabbage

  • 5/5 Malka 2 years ago on Google
We visited Gerald's Bistro on a Tuesday night and the dining experience felt intimate as the venue wasn't too busy. The interior decoration was beautiful and I loved the low lighting. The staff were extremely attentive and the service was excellent. However, the best thing about the night was still the food. We tried all the starters, the coal grilled calamari and wood-fired violet cauliflower from the Shared Menu, and every dish had a flavour unique to itself. Loved the kibbeh nayyeh, the soft wood-fired bagel, calamari and everything else, but our favourite was the spanner crab tabouli. It was reminiscent of the flavours of a traditional tabouli, and a genius idea by the team. There was a bit of crunch, a bit of heat and it was just so perfect! I would definitely return just to have this dish again. Thank you for the wonderful experience Gerald's Bistro.

We went here during our short trip at Brisbane. Lovely waitresses, cozy ambiance, excellent cocktails, but sadly as a vegetarian we didn’t have many options. 🥲 We would love to come back here again in the future, and hoping they will extend their vegetarian menu options ✌️

  • 3/5 Nigel 2 years ago on Google
Was really looking forward to dinning here as the menu had some really interesting dishes Loved the Oysters, garnish perfect with cucumber & chilli, and the Wood-fired potato bread delivered, extremely tasty and highly recommend if you haven't tried potato bread before Also had two other starters, the Spanner crab and Scallop's, crab very tasty but scallops a little tough For main shared the lamb with an extra of Wood-fired Cauliflower, but found these a little average, lamb was a little tougher than expected Really good wine list as well Unfortunately though, some of the worst service we have experienced for some time! As we had booked unless we wanted to wait for a while, we had to sit outside with our jackets on, as it was a cooler night even under the heater. Advised restaurant matradee that the online booking should have an option for inside or outside, which he agreed with. Also, our cutlery and plates from the starters had not been removed from the table before the mains came out, not fine dinning I'm afraid

  • 2/5 Stuart B. 3 years ago on Google
Can't say I am a fan, a fixed menu with one entree (bread), one main meal (rib which was akin to tender stewed beef) and one dessert (ice cream with nuts) wasn't what we were looking forward to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant was booked a month in advance and to the best of my recollections there was no mention of a set menu. The staff were friendly, courteous and efficient.

  • 5/5 Luke W. 3 years ago on Google
Hands down my best meal of the year. Every dish let the beautiful flavours of the produce shine through with a subtle, creative middle eastern twist. Drinks were also excellent and the whole experience rounded out by friendly, good natured staff. A true pleasure to experience

  • 5/5 Marc C. 3 years ago on Google
As a recent arrival in Brisbane, this is easily my favourite dining experience so far. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service efficient and professional without being pretentious - super friendly and welcoming - and some flat out excellent food (the pita bread was out of this world) just really topped off the night. I'm telling all my friends we're going here when they visit!

  • 5/5 Nga L. 4 years ago on Google
Food was superb. Staff were very professional and helpful with orchestrating a surprise birthday celebration and cake. We ordered what we thought would be enough for a group of 6 but we ordered way too much. Everyone left full and satisfied. As its situated in the buzzing hub of James Street, parking wasn't so easy but that's what you expect on a Saturday lunch time. We ordered their mocktails, was just as delicious as the real things.

  • 5/5 Annette M. 3 years ago on Google
The food is amazing, tasty, tasteful and beautifully plated. The staff are warm and friendly. The environment is modern and inviting. The owners are warm and welcoming following through with great communication skills. The restaurant is very reasonably priced especially for the experience.

Had a amazing dinner and experience last night with their set menu. The food was fantastic and the service although a little wanting for the first 10 minutes, after that was spot on as they were busy. Super friendly staff and the atmosphere was great outside - not too loud and super comfy and warm.

  • 5/5 Nick G. 3 years ago on Google
Delicious food in James Street! The celeriac bread, swordfish and cabbage were each highlights. The flavours complex but complementary. Comes recommended!

  • 4/5 Samuel J. 3 years ago on Google
Tried their set menu which was a greek salad, fancy roast carrot, beautifully cooked lamb shoulder and orange almond cake. Everything was perfect but I felt the salad and dessert were quite boring and for the price you're paying they could have been more creative, although I realise they're limited by takeaway options.

Very happy with the dining experience at Gerard’s Bistro. Staffs were very friendly and professional, foods were amazing and portion size was generous. I really like the scallops and the bagel. It was a very busy Friday night, the wait time for foods was reasonable. The price is also reasonable, certainly met my expectations. Their set menu is different every night and it rotates every few weeks. I don’t know how they can achieve this. I will come back to try the set menu on a different night. Highly recommended.

I went to Gerard’s for my 30th birthday having never been, and it exceeded every expectation... food was excellent, service was attentive, and atmosphere was perfect. All round complete dining experience, would highly recommend to anyone wanting to celebrate a special occasion.

My family celebrated my birthday with takeaway Gerards Bistro food. We ate on the home verandah on a mild September evening. It was the best restaurant food I have ever enjoyed - steak, burnt cauliflower, tomatoes, beetroot, all with their own delicious sauces accompanied by a humungous scrumptuous woodfired bread roll. Just pure heaven on an empty stomach.

Had a birthday dinner here on Friday and it was fantastic. Expensive as its fine dining but it was definitely worth the money. I think this is the best meal I have ever had in my life, complimented by outstanding service and above and beyond touches. We visited for our anniversary and would not normally order the food on the set menu but every single mouthful or every single element on the plate of every course was incredible! The flavours in each dish are amazing and we were treated to champagne and chocolates as a treat for our occasion. Kim and the other gentleman who looked after us were excellent and very friendly. We were made to feel so special and the wine we chose on a whim was outstanding. I can’t fault our experience here. We will definitely return.
