Probably the windiest conditions I have ever experienced on a mountain before I even got to the top of the Fire Tower, but a great hike and view once you're up there. The tower itself can't hold a ton of people but the views are great. Felt very sturdy up top. Be careful not to hit your head when climbing up there!

Perhaps the best view of the mountains I’ve ever had. Hurricane Mountain is not one of the high peaks but at its summit you have a great panoramic view of the high peaks and Lake Champlain. We started at the trailhead by Rt. 9 and the hike was generally moderate.

A 10km that is done well. Windy at the top. Need crampons too. The experience of the tower in winter, a big wow! We are sheltered from the wind in the tower at the top

Nice hike in a chilly October morning, and we enjoyed what we completed, however due to a couple days of heavy rain before our visit it was very wet and we weren't able to make it to the top due to a stream about 1.5 miles in that we couldn't confidently get our little hikers (2 &5) across without getting wet. Otherwise much of the trail coming from the East Hurricane Mountain Trail was right up a stream. We'll try again someday in better weather. (Photos are the trail!)

We took the Northern trail up from Crow Clearing off of OToole Rd. This was my first Adirondack hike. I loved it! It's a challenging hike and very rocky. There had been a lot of rain in the area during the days leading up to our hike. The weather was beautiful for us, but the trail was very wet and muddy. There was a stretch where we were basically walking in a shallow stream because of the way the water was flowing down the trail. On the other hand, there were so many interesting mushrooms to see! At the top, the view is incredible. The fire tower is very solid and worth climbing up if you don't mind heights. Even on a perfect day like we had, I was glad I'd brought along my fleece to put on at the top. Well worth a visit if you enjoy a good hike.

Although this is technically not an ADK high peak, it is still an amazing hike. It is a little over 6 miles, and it has some good climbs at time, but it is well worth it! The view from the top is incredible, and if you are brave enough, you should definitely go to the top of the fire tower. It was incredibly windy at the top, and a little unsettling, but I have no regrets. It seems safe enough! There are two different approaches.

This was my first hike after becoming a 46er a few weeks ago (#14017) and it did not disappoint. Only took 4hr 14m to complete including ~35 at the summit. Relatively easy going up in comparison to the actual high peaks, very easy & quick going down.

We ascended from the east side, steep but enjoyable scrabble. Excellent views from the top!

This hike marked my newest achievement, it was challenging and took all my energy. But so worth it. Beautiful views, and amazing experience. The tower is awesome aswell.

It’s extremely cold at high altitudes, so it’s not recommended for beginner climbers. free parking

πŸ‘ We visited on a rainy day and would like to go back on a day with better weather. Playground is a little difficult to find as someone not from the town, but after looping around on several streets, we finally found some handicap and street parking about a street away, crossed a bridge, went up a hil...

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Worth every minute of the time it takes to climb. Red trail (rocky trail) is harder and little longer than the blue trail. Both trails meet at junction at one point and the trail up to the summit is on blue trail only. Red trail is very rocky, lot of rock scrambling and leg strength is required. Tak...
