A lovely pub serving mainly good alcohol and pizza. We came here 2023-03-13 and each had a different pizza and all four of us enjoyed them very much. It was a relaxed atmosphere with polite staff, nice decor, a fire and a good selection of drinks. We had a very nice meal here. If you like pizza, come here! My only downside really was the lack of desserts. I can get on board with a place doing mostly pizzas for mains, but a brownie or cheesecake or something would have been very nice after that big pizza.

The Crown & Scepter is a friendly local pub. You will find a great selection of wines, spirits, whisky, beers, large and ales. Here you can enjoy nice meal with your family and friends. Comfortable sitting area inside and lovely garden outside will make you feel like you were at home. Visit Crown & Scepter next time when you are in South Croydon.

Really nice place, nice outside space with lots of greenery and similar theme in side past the proper old style bar area. We had pizza's which is the main choice on the menu, they were great! We had the veggie garden pizza and the mushroom and truffle pizza. Packed with veg and lots of cheese! I was there on a Tuesday quiz night, great fun and great atomsphere!!

We recently moved to the area after a number of years of being away, we weren’t too familiar with the area and we’re scoping out the local bars and pubs as one of the reasons we moved was to have abit more of a local night/evening life outside of the house. We came across the crown and sceptre before we moved to the area but only drove past during the summer and it looked lovely, especially with the amount of outdoor seating and foliage adorning the front of the building. Since moving, it has become our favourite local and must show to friends and family who visit. It’s warm and friendly atmosphere makes it very welcoming. Brilliantly furnished and in keeping to the age and style of the building. Nice variety of drinks and the pizza menu is great value for money and fantastic quality. Perfect for when you don’t have time for cook or fancy a meal out. Dog friendly too! Can’t wait to experience it in the summertime, believe it would be an amazing atmosphere.

This place has really improved over the last couple of years. So much so I had to edit my review and up them to 5 stars! Lovely friendly staff, nice little garden area with plenty of seating. Great pizzas and kebabs! A lovely little pub to hide away from the busy concrete jungle of Croydon, well worth checking out!

Very busy - good for them, never seen it so busy. They have taken out some tables near the bar and replaced with very high tables and stools - not great for older or disabled.

Very relaxed, old school pub. Only background noise is the sound of other small groups catching up over a cold beer or two. (And they certainly have a great selection of beers). Great bar staff too, so thoroughly recommended! I hear good things about the food too and the pizzas are huge! Will have try one some day.

Really cute and cool little pub just off Selsdon Road - the beer garden is spacious and lovely!! Great beer/ale selection (they do Beavertown on tap!) Big car park out the back. Friendly and welcoming bartenders and a nice crowd. Such a nice place to come to for a nice drink in South Croydon, so happy we found it!

We are in the area for a wedding and picked this place off google maps for a quiet bite to eat the day before. They sell lovely hand made pizzas freshly prepared for approx £14 & have just started serving street food type dishes including different flavours of chicken kebabs with cous cous and Coleslaw. We really enjoyed our choices especially and think this place offers superb value for money. Staff are friendly and smiley too plus there's a large outside seating area and off road car park. A great community pub with lovely food.

Lovely friendly pub. Staff attentive, pleasant and helpful. Food limited to a pizza menu plus a non-pizza special but hey, what does it matter when the environment and atmosphere are pleasant. Wicked pint of London Pride. Felt comfortable just popping in for an early evening session solo. Toilets nice and clean. Like most other local pubs needs to be cherished and supported.

After taking a break from this pub due to the previous management, I visited last night after work and was very impressed with the ambiance, food and great Guiness. This really in pub terms the equivalence of an Oasis. It's like an English country pub, but in Croydon. The vibe is relaxed with enough people to create a good atmosphere, without the craziness of other Croydon pubs. To eat, the had the stew which at £8.50 was amazing value, the main menu is pizza. To drink we had Guiness which was excellent, the wine selection is very good as well. The service was excellent, both efficient and friendly. The other customers, who seemed to be locals, were friendly and welcoming, but not imposing so we could enjoy our drinks and food at our table, and when going to the bar talk and meet other locals. Highly recommended for those who like pubs as pubs, not flashy wine bars, or sports bars, great food and drink, served well by friendly people with a local vibe, but not cliquey. For sure, we will be visiting again,

Gorgeous little local pub. It's tucked away and out of plain sight but that's not a reason to underestimate it. Friendly staff, warm atmosphere and inexpensive drinks. Definitely recommend.

No interest in waiting customers. 2 people serving whether busy or not. At one point, a bar person who was actually taking a break and drinking went ro the bar to make it harder for others to be served. Meanwhile we had someone who spent the entire time collecting glasses, or filling a water dispenser...important stuff. When he could have been serving. I've been a customer for 40 years. Never has it been this bad.

Lots of memories here. I was on a pub crawl with some friends and we started at the Crown and Sceptre with a plan to head towards Croydon town centre. There were 4 of us and as luck would have it, in walked 4 lovely young ladies. We brought them a drink and got talking to them. One was a stunningly beautiful young woman called Maria and 36 years later she's still my beautiful wife. The pub? Well, it's not changed much, it's still a great pub. So have a visit, you never know how it might change your life

Such a great escape from normal life ... Take yourself back to the days of school ,University and the beauty of your local. This is that...and more.now a great flatbread and pizza menu too that caters for veggies and pescies too. Service is cool even during lockdown and the place will grow and grow as it has no sides. A1 for me .chance to talk with friends in a quiet cool surrounding .

A very pleasant pub with friendly landlord and lady and staff. The beer is Fuller's fayre, well kept and served. Pizzas are very nice. COVID rules are tricky in this narrow pub, but the team are doing a great job at making sure everyone plays their part in keeping the place safe.

Highly recommend! A couple of days late but got some delicious pizza from The Crown and Sceptre the other evening. Had the Nice n Spicy and the Garden Club. They were exceptional Pizzas and my girlfriend and I are big foodies. It’s a cute pub with good music and a chill atmosphere. Cherry on the cake were the little drawings on the boxes, very personal! (P.s boxes were clean when we picked the pizza up, photo was taken post feast)

I was meeting friends in a similar named pub in Croydon. I went to Crown and Sceptre by accident. A sunny Saturday afternoon. This pub is delightful - small patio at rear with a couple of tables to enjoy the sunshine. Real ales - London Pride proved very popular with locals. Very small pub where welcoming brar staff seemed to know majority of drinkers by first name. We tried the sharing platter - cost £8.50 Platter was a good size with chunky chips, onion rings, garlic bread, scampi, chicken goujons and 4 dips - very enjoyable Low background music meant you could converse and hear each other Overall this was a very pleasant pub with very pleasant people and a delightful experience. Will definitely be returning.
