1st time visit and what a lovely day out. This is a must if you love boardgames. Let's start with food and snacks though. Food quality was amazing, selection of food and drink is awesome and fairly priced...alcohol available if you want it, coffees teams and soft drinks if you dont. A good choice of hot and cold food, again, all reasonably priced. Now onto board games... there's a huge array of board games- for all ages too. (I'll be revisiting with my children next time). We did have a few issues with ripped or missing instructions (which would be my only very minor critique- more could be done with regards to upkeep and maintenance of the board games) but staff members where happy to sit with you and explain the rules and walk you through a game and that would be a huge positive - happy, helpful and extremely knowledgeable staff. At The end of our visit we had a mooch around the shop where they have a good selection of games to buy. Overall a wonderful day and I will be going back very soon

Brilliant! Loads of games, new releases & old nostalgic classics. Cocktails are really good and the food. Vegan jackfruit Nachos and the vegan pizza was 10/10. The service from the manager and his team made you feel so welcome and they get involved, Seeing how you’re getting on and helping you choose games and explaining how they work. Honestly I can’t wait to go back. Thank you!

This place brings me and my family so much joy! It’s one place where we spend the whole day and come out feeling great! Mainly to try out new games before spending so much monies on board games. Vast selection of games for all age range. Pay the entry fees (usually for a few hours but they would let you stay if they are not very busy), good to book it in advance it can get quite busy over weekends. You can also buy your food/drinks.

More life in here than the rest of Croydon High Street on a Saturday night. But it’s easy to see why this place is so popular. This spacious, inviting space run by friendly staff is stacked with an absolutely huge selection of games (for all ages and interests). Our party of four decided to learn and play The Grimm Forest. Once you get over the moderate learning curve, the game was fast-paced and enjoyable. Great beer and drink selection too. An absolute winner of a cafe!

My children and I visited and had so much fun, So many games to choose from, and I personally enjoyed playing board games while not at home! Lovely clean venue, the coffee was fresh and perfect. I will be returning but in the evening next time with my own friends 😃 🍷 🍺 ♟

It's like being at home with some mates, playing some games, but having someone to serve you drinks and food and clean up after! Quality of food is fairly average, but the food isn't really the main attraction. A HUGE selection of games, quick fun family games, longer more complex social games, games for couples, games for groups, games for young and old and everyone in between, games for all skill levels and levels of experience. More games than you can poke a stick at! Staff are nice and reasonably attentive, the push button for service is great, and I enjoyed the cocktails. The whole place was fairly bright and well lit, thought it might make the atmosphere a bit better if the overall lighting was a little dimmer but with over table lighting (appreciate that doesn't really play well if moving tables around for different party sizes) Clientele seemed generally a good bunch, seemed to be mostly regulars but we felt welcome even though clearly no idea what games we wanted to play)

Yeah all the 5 star reviews are well deserved. Absolutely fab venue. I would definitely recommend booking, but that’s very easy to do. With 1400 games to choose from, this is a really impressive place. Great atmosphere, well priced food, and well priced gaming. I was worried that I’d feel compelled to keep getting coffees or similar but that just isn’t the case, they give you a buzzer so you can just call over the friendly staff if you are in need of their assistance. Food is tasty, and they do bowls of snacks which are just perfect. I’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone wanting to try games.

Very interesting spot with a huge selection of board games. Small menu with a nice variety of vegetarian and vegan options. Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere during the day. Smoothie was delicious.

Relaxed atmosphere, good service, staff seemed friendly enough. It’s become a little shabby over the years and the atmosphere wasn’t the best, maybe because it was half term and there were two distinctly different crowds, it didn’t feel as welcoming as it has in the past. It’s busier now so I found you really need to book in advance. The table we had for three of us was between two other tables which limited our space. Didn’t feel comfortable. Couldn’t really order food as there would be no space to put it around the game. In any case, plenty of the games are grubby now so probably wouldn’t want to be handling them and food at the same time. Definitely would have preferred a little room between our table and the next, and a bit of space to pull the chair out. We still had a good few hours.

Lovely place, we were visiting family and popped in on the way back because it looked welcoming and is dog friendly. We just wanted a cuppa & glass of wine, but the atmosphere was buzzing, and we ended up playing a quick game ourselves. Staff were wonderful, especially to us newbies. The whole place is very well organised! The atmosphere was the best, whether families, couples, individuals or big groups of friends, everyone was enjoying themselves. Highly recommended!

What a great find!! You do have to pre book, but I managed to book in the morning for the same evening. It's reasonably priced at £7 adult and £3.50 for under 16s for up to 3 hours of game time. The drinks are a little pricey but expected due to the location, and they are well presented. The garlic bread was so tasty!! The staff are really knowledgeable about the location of games, and if you have a particular genre you'd like to play, then they are happy and able to make good recommendations. If you love board games, then you need to make a visit. My daughter and I had a lovely evening together and managed to play 3 games in that time, 2 of them we had never heard of before, which was nice. We have actually pre booked to go back and celebrate her birthday with a large group of us.

Wanted to check this place out for a while and so glad I finally did! Went in on my own, whilst daughter was at a panto with Brownies. The guy who serves me was really chilled about me being a solo player and picked me out some games to try. Two hours flew by playing Friday. Lovely cup of chai tea too. Well worth the money and will be going back!

Great place to find a new game. We love coming here as the amount of games is so vast. We always find a new fav. Service is great and I can recommend the pizza and hot chocolate. We always get this when we go. Can't wait to go back.

Visitwd the Ludoquist for the first time when they hosted an Arkham Horror LCG event. The place was heaving with players filling every table yet the service was still impeccable, my tea (with oat milk) tasted like a home made cuppa and a fellow player commented on how delicious the shakes were. The food looked appreciated to the point of clean plates by those who partook. I didn't make use of the game library however it is extensive to say the least, with shelf upon shelf of games to suit all tastes. Despite being full to the brim with people the main room still felt airy and there remained space to wander around. The toilets were clean with plenty of hand soap & sanitiser. The facilitator of the event (and I believe owner), Nick, was the most gracious of hosts - what more could you want for an evening of gaming fun. Would definitely go back, highly recommended.

Lovely place to spend the day at. Book a table for 4hrs and time flew by. There are sooooo many game selections of various different types, me and my husband played about 6 different games. It’s quite a simple food selection but it was super nice. They have a very large range of drink selection from hot drinks, smoothies, milkshakes, beers, endless things. Everything was priced fairly and expected. Staff were super friendly and welcoming which always makes a place even better. Atmosphere was very chilled and comforting. I will be 1000% be coming here again and recommending for all my friends & family :)!

Really enjoyed this cafe! So many games to pick from and they're all pretty decent! A couple pieces missing here and there but made no real difference to the games played. The food and drinks weren't bad either. The only downsides for me, the service was more on the slower side, the table cloths are torn up (at least the ones on our table was) and should be changed and lastly, they need to put signs up so those who bring in their pets, know its not their home to be putting dogs on tables where people eat! They addressed the situation at the time when I told them so that was good but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I guess thats more the customers gross behaviour though.

We have been here a number of times for after-work socials and Christmas Dos in Croydon. The staff are super friendly and the selection of games is brilliant. Their pizzas/paninis and drinks selection also makes it a good full night out of eating, socialising and laughing all night! Recommended for an "alternative" night out if in Croydon. The staff also make it super easy to book in advance.

I paid a visit with my daughter and partner when I visited them last weekend. Lovely venue for everything games from boxes! We were greeted straight away as we arrived, asked if we had visited before.. He gave us a comprehensive run down in terms of ordering refreshments; and how the games are organised relative of difficulty. There were loads of games I've not seen before. We had a fun time!!

The food is good, as well as the coffee. However, that is probably not the reason you're visiting. The cafe has a very wide variety of board and card games for all ages, and is also very well organised. It's a great place to hang out with friends and family, and I would highly recommend!

What a great find on my way back to Berlin via Croydon - I was seeing old friends in Reading. Lovely staff, a place to plug in my phone and laptop, an expansive menu with lots of non-alcoholic options, good pricing and... I guess you can also play or buy a lot of board games here 😂 I am a gamer but wasn't doing so on this visit, but maybe next time. Would highly recommend.

Been here a few times and loved the games, drink and food available. Staff are great and very friendly with recommendations on what to play and how to play them. My recent visit was unique as I had an epileptic seizure. The staff took care of me really well and I'm really grateful to them. I'll be back to say thank you but will make sure all my medication is taken this time.

Just had a great afternoon playing games with a friend here. Huge selection of board games to choose from and lots of tables to sit at. I managed to get around ok (disabled, with walker), and I was impressed that they even have a disabled toilet. Table service works well, nice that you don’t have to leave a game to get a drink. Food good, pizzas so filling we couldn’t finish them! Shame we don’t live closer but will definitely go again if in the area. Thank you for a great time!

We went to this board game cafe for the first time today with two friends. It was okay, but definitely not great. Here are some facts to consider before booking: 1. The game selection is great. I'm a pretty experienced board gamer, and I was impressed at the game availability. 2. The food is terrible. Cheap. But terrible. Just eat before you go. The drink selection is fine, but you're going to have to decide between space and your drink. 3. There's not enough staff. So get used to waiting a long time to get help/service. Pretty ridiculous given you have a time-limited session. And the staff seemed pretty unhappy with their lives. 4. Space is limited. We played a complex game, and there simply was not enough space. I gobbled down my sandwich because there wasn't any place to put it. Pieces were falling on the floor. It took us a while to realise there were pieces missing from the game. I understand that you want to fill all the tables, but it defeats the point if you came to play a game and you can't really play it. 5. Uncomfortable seating. Your session is limited to 3 hours, but don't worry, you're going to want to leave before then to feel your bum again. 6. We went on a Sunday, so it was busy... and unbelievably loud. Trying to explain rules was really challenging. We were constantly getting rammed in the back by neighbouring tables trying to get around. And because it was so rammed, it was boiling. We were sweating. It was just quite an unpleasant experience. In the end, we just quit our game so we could leave. It took another 20-30 minutes to just leave. Potentially it would be fun if you want to play more simple, familiar games. And at 7 quid a person, you could easily buy these games... and the food would be better.

Brilliant board game cafe in central Croydon, huge selection of board games to play for all ages and abilities. Staff are super helpful and friendly, give great game recommendations if you can't decide. Nice cocktails and food options. Regular gaming events hosted throughout the week also.

Award-winning for a reason! Big menu of vegan/dairy free options. Great selection of games. Helpful staff. Warning though - the pizza is both gigantic and with tons of cheese on top.

A good place to chill yet enjoy a range of different games. Some new to us and enjoyed some classics. Great that there is a cafe vibe yet also sells alcoholic beverages also.

Great place to sit down and play some board games with friends while having a beer. I highly recommend the Garlic bread with cheese as a snack!

The Ludoquist is what all boardgame cafes should aspire to be. Great vibe, approachable staff and a welcoming atmosphere means that any time you go in a good time is guaranteed. The food is delicious and reasonably priced and the shop is well stocked with a great selection of games and locally made coffee and beer.

Such an amazing place to kill a lazy afternoon! They literally have hundreds of board games you can choose to play whilst sipping a nice beverage (coffee, soft or alcoholic). I don't envy the member of staff who takes the inventory of all the cards/pieces for each individual game set. But they obviously do a great job because the games are well maintained with no missing pieces etc. I've not had the pizza there yet, but I've heard good things from friends. The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was very relaxed & therapeutic. I also really liked the fact that they had a decent air con system in the hot weather, and it was a very welcome escape from the sweaty hell outside.

Awesome place! Definitely a must do for Croydon if you are into board games. Very reasonably priced, including a the food and drink. You can play games as long as you’d like for £6 (half price off peak). Tons of game selection, all the classics as well as new modern games. Over 1000 to choose from.

  • 5/5 Carolina D. 1 year ago on Google
Ludoquist is such a friendly and welcoming place to be. The staff are all lovely and the range of games is huge. Beers and snack aplenty though for a proper meal go somewhere else. A brilliant place to spend an afternoon or evening.

Used to visit with friends many times when I lived in Croydon. Still use it as a meeting place when I visit. The staff are extremely friendly, there is a very wide range of board games that cater to all types and there’s a wealth of knowledge behind those who work there, should you need it. Entry and food/drink at alright prices as well. Only thing I wish was that there was a wider range of food but ultimately, you’ll still find something there for you. Having a place like this really does brighten the community - Definitely visit here if you want a lovely place of socialisation.

Awesome place, would recommend to anyone looking for something fun to do in Croydon! Huge variety of board games on offer, from basic card games, party games for larger groups and more advanced board games. There’s games for young children to adults so there’s a game for everyone. Ludoquist has a fun, friendly atmosphere. Great for couples to large groups. Food and drinks were great and reasonably priced. One of the best soy americanos in Croydon! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Went on a Sunday and the place got busy quickly so would recommend booking!

  • 5/5 B P. 2 years ago on Google
Went here as a family with a 5 and 9 year old for a chilled but fun Saturday afternoon. Very reasonably priced £5 per adult and £2.50 per child to play unlimited board games plus they have a great menu with a big variety, the pizzas looked huge and great for sharing. The milkshakes I felt were over priced and may have been good to have a children’s size. They serve alcohol and bowls of snacks too. So many games the kids enjoyed hungry hippos, connect 4, memory world games, stacking chairs, there about 20 different versions of monopoly. Problem solving games and much more, can easily spend 2-3 hours in here. We arrived at 1.30 and left at 4pm and it had got very busy by then. Highly recommend for a family or group of friends.

This a great place to gather with friends for a few hours of games and laughs, the selection of drinks is great, food choice is limited but enough for an evening. Highly recommended the pizzas. Their game library is where this place shines, it is a huge selection of games that you can borrow for the evening as well as buy from their retail section. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something to do one evening.

Nice vibe, friendly & welcoming staff. Reasonable prices (we were there off-Peak so paid £3 each table charge and then around £2 each for a pot of tea). Highly recommend :)

The concept of a board game cafe is great and the atmosphere here is brilliant. It can get busy at weekends and evenings, so if you want to go then book in advance
