(Gallery space). This converted warehouse is a classic exhibition space for artists. Entering the forbidding door, and ascending the steep stairs, you eventually reach the gallery. Its whitewashed walls, peppered with the remains of ancient industry, host art exhibitions of every kind. Student exhibitions of varying quality and ambition, artwork from the gross to the great are found here on an eratic schedule throughout the year. Always worth a visit, you will sometimes find things that inspire you and and make you think. Sometimes you look around and think 'all that effort for so little effect! This sort of space allows for every variety of voice and vision. Go see!

They literally told us : We are closing, Would you mind to head off?? That is so rude. First time in my life someone told me that. Never return.

I do my life drawing sessions here on Thursdays. Calvin is the best tutor. He’s so positive and gives you great tips to improve.

The worst experience ever trying to rent a place for an event. The owner, Duncan did not respond to my emails, not even after we had a conversation in person. I chased him for two weeks via email, phone, even went to the place randomly hoping he would be there. Once I managed to meet him, he didn't remember me or what we discussed, he said he can't give me the space for when I would have needed it. I agreed to have the event at another time because I liked the atmosphere of the place, but he said he can't confirm the date because he doesn't have his laptop with him. I told him that this is a university project that I have to finish to graduate. He said he has more important things to deal with and it's not his priority at all. I was stressed for weeks, I cancelled another booking because of this etc. This person has no empathy or respect for artists. Now I'm trying to find another place and recover from the rudeness and disrespect I had to experience today. It's a horrible shame that someone like this manages a beautiful place that holds so many opportunities. Don't try to rent it, artists.

Good models. Good and varied length poses. Cramped quarters despite fewer artists (bulky separating screens). Almost doubled in price even though there's a highly vocal Zoom class with several online artists going on at the same time. Will the contiguous Zoom class continue for the foreseeable future? Probably.

A space with plenty of potential but poorly run, utterly disorganized, and in desperate need of some TLC. It is mostly managed by an incredibly obnoxious individual called Duncan who put us of ever returning

Lots of great art events happen in this space but the café is worth a trip in itself. The chocolate cake is probably the best cake I have ever had! It's meals are great, it serves wine and is open late. The grand tables and sofas are lit with candles on antique tables and eye-catching art adorns the walls. It's one of the most unusual cafes I have been to in London and in a great location, just around the corner from Angel tube station.

We had a private life drawing class there. The studio is airy and bright. Ben and Andrew were fantastic. The class is full of fun and creativity. 2 hours passed so quickly. thanks so much for the amazing exprience!

Nice gritty looking ex industrial / commercial building with whitewashed walls and bare floorboards. Cafe next door. Toilets tucked away in the corner.

When you actually get to the cafe, you've climbed two flights of steep stairs and squeezed past a queue for the toilet. Customers don't know who are waiters or other customers and ordering at a chaotic kitchen island is awkward. No one knows what the cakes in a cabinet are and the food orders coming out of the kitchen past those trying to order look sloppy and doesn't smell that good. In fact the stench of kitchen smells is very off putting. Leave at this point because the coffee and service is lousy and the overpriced food looks hard work. This is a tired place. I wouldn't recommend it. I can only assume that the other reviews here are written by the owners and staff.

The Candid Cafe is one of those places that I love introducing to friends. They are always amazed and delighted to find such a place in London. It's so unique, with a great mix of people. I have started running a Children's Book Authors group here twice a week and all my member have said how inspiring and lovely they find the cafe. The candlelight, squashy sofas, huge communal wooden tables, friendly staff and excellent cake have made this one of my favourite places to go. Perfect for everything from a lone writing/reading and coffee session to a group dinner.

Absolutely appalled. This has been the epitome of a horrendous experience. Customer service? Non-existent. To my dismay, I discovered that the individual in charge was none other than the owner (Duncan) an individual embodying the pinnacle of cynicism. I strongly urge others to steer clear. The artists involved deserve better than this environment of contempt.

This is my "goto" restaurant when I'm in North London. The food is healthy and it gives me oral orgasms with every mouthful! I love the artistic ambience too, it's not brushed like most of the big chains venues in the area and it hasn't change for years!! It is particularly nice and cozy even though looks chaotic at times lovely smiley and helpful staff is well organised. I really like the big tables and the sense of sharing with everyone around you. Highly recommended with loads of art events and drawing classes I've been also attending for years! It's my birthday soon and I would love to come to Candid Cafe with a couple of friends to celebrate it with the guilt-free cake option I'd better book a table now...
