We have been guests at El Tipico's for over 30 years. Many of Toledo's family owned restaurants have sadly disappeared over the years. We moved away for a while and recently returned. El Tipico's was one of the first restaurants we wanted to go back to. We were so happy to find that it was not only still in business but is truly better then it has ever been. The food, the fabulous décor and the service have been outstanding. The owner; Dina Villa, attributed a lot of the improvement in the food to switching to organic ingredients which seemed to bring back the original flavor of her families recipes. We're so glad they continue to provide such great Mexican food in this area.

If you want the absolute best authentic Mexican food Toledo has to offer. Look no further. Organic ingredients, wide choice selection and great service. Multi generational local business in which the apple sure hasn't fell far from the tree. They even welcomed my Service Dog Milo, which has become a favorite customer. Every trip and meal here is a cause for much celebration.

Absolutely fantastic in every single aspect!!! The service and food here is phenomenal! You won't regret it. The entire menu can be made vegan and gluten free which is a huge feat and the owner is a beautiful and very special human being. She cooks the cuisine herself and everything is made with genuine love. Wonderful, wonderful experiences here. I will seriously be driving back from NY on some upcoming weekends with this restaurant being the main focus of the trip. Perfect. And on a side note, the coffee and ice tea is just as perfect as the rest of the food! ❤️

Being celiac I hesitate eating out. A google search lead me here and I am so thankful! Dina the owner came out to talk to me, which was a wonderful touch! El Tipico is my go to Mexican restaurant because of the diverse menu. All items are organic and can be made with traditional ingredients or gluten free and vegan with excellent flavor and texture. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. Guests are treated like family. I have not had anything I've not thoroughly enjoyed. Support this amazing local business!

The decor is warm and inviting. Spotlessly clean. Atmosphere is relaxing and friendly. The menu choices are excellent and accommodate vegetarians too. The food is seasoned perfectly and the presentation is a perfect 10. The service was also excellent. This is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten in. Highly recommend!!!

I lived in Los Angeles for five years, and would frequently travel south to Baja California, Mexico. I'd dine in the little towns, which gave me the experience to identify and appreciate true Mexican cuisine. El Tipico is the real thing, and that's hard to find. What I liked best about El Tipico is the simplicity of fresh ingredients prepared just for you. They are clearly not mass-producing food and reheating it. Nor are they merely piing on some ketchup-"salsa" and calling it Mexican. I recommend experiencing it. Just be advised, it is likely quite different than what you are accustomed to. It's an improvement, and you'll love it.

This place is a nice little gem. amazing vegan options which is hard to find. To top it all off clean ingredients and good flavor! Very good place to try if you’re near by.

We ordered the Pappas mexicanas it came with rice and beans as well as tortillas and was delicious and full of flavor. Wasn't too salty or underseasoned. Everything was super fresh! The massa on the temales was so delicious It literally melted in my mouth! The pork was well seasoned and tender! Great place to eat and enjoy!

My husband and I have lived in Toledo for years and have passed by El Tipico a bunch and finally decided that it was time to visit it. Oh my goodness, they did not disappoint! As soon as you walk in, the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and we were immediately greeted kindly upon walking in. The service was top notch as well as the food. My husband and I both got the Burrito Dinner. The beef tip gravy was to die for! Easiest 5 star review ever. Will definitely be coming back soon!

This Mexican restaurant is extraordinarily GOOD! Their chips are light, tasty, and crispy. The food was delicious. You can tell the quality is top-notch as they use organic ingredients. My family and I were so pleased to enjoy a meal together here with a friend. It is a family-owned business and the owner is so nice as she shared the history of it with us. It's been around for 55 years! The restaurant is clean and beautiful. We will definitely be coming back again!

We had a large group and they accommodated us without much notice. This was our first time but we went off the star rating. I was surprised and pleased with the organic and healthy options including non-dairy cheese since I am lactose intolerant. My chimichanga was so delicious and had so much chicken! I'm not usually a fan of rice but I ate every bit of it. We will be back and can't wait to try something else on the menu!

Combo dinner was good but nothing special. Wife's ground beef chimichanga was very dry. Old building but clean. Parking and entrance around back. No better or worse than other Mexicsn restaurants in the the Toledo area.

My FIRST time here today, but definitely NOT my last! The food was delicious! The staff was super nice! The atmosphere was laid back! I HIGHLY recommend trying this lovely little place! I will be back very soon, it's my new FAVORITE Mexican restaurant! 💚

This was my first time here, and my waitress holly did an amazing job. She was friendly, attentive, and funny. She also makes a really mean iced tea. The food was very good, and delicious. I would come back

Awesome family owned restaurant! Food was fantastic Melissa was the best- kept our soda filled, brought us a pitcher of water. She's a pro at making sure everything was good. My husband would come here when he lived in the Toledo area. Still great as it was years ago when parents owned it! They would be so proud! Nice placc, good parking, staff very friendly! Our adult kids loved it. We will be back when in town again.

So, I've lived in A LOT of places and have eaten at many different Mexican/Mexican-American restaurants; this is the only one I actually missed when I moved away from Ohio. Their salsa is to die for - drinkable, in fact. Every dish I've ever had here has been simply amazing. The ingredients are fresh, and it is evident in the quality of the food you get. I would eat here every day they're open if I lived in Toledo. Call ahead for seating; hours are limited.

My family was in Toledo for a family event and I wanted Mexican food for dinner. I researched online and Reddit and El Tipico listed over and over again. Let me tell you, the reviews don’t lie. The best food I’ve eaten period. It’s fresh, organic and flavorful. I can’t wait to visit Ohio again so I can eat here!

We found out about El Tipico in Toledo's reddit forum, and am so glad we did! It was one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in a long time. From the cozy atmosphere and kind staff to the fresh made food exploding with flavor - it would be hard not to enjoy El Tipico. You can definitely taste the difference in their food, starting with the salsa and chips that are waiting for you at your table. Note: Reservations HIGHLY recommended!

We had the most wonderful evening at El Tipico while in the area for bird watching. Their varied and deliciously fresh vegetarian options exceeded my expectations. The pinto bean soup was such a hit that we brought a quart back to our lodging, and the homemade salsa is our all-time favorite - light and as fresh tasting as any we’ve had. My friend stated the shredded chicken (in the burrito) was as flavorful as any he’s had. We savored our authentic meals surrounded by the Mexican art and music. Although some might find the neighborhood off their usual path, we were not uncomfortable, Whether you are a local or a visitor, we highly recommend you make a reservation at El Tipico.

Food and service were amazing. I showed up with a party of 8, with no reservation. They accommodated us beautifully, and made my birthday dinner with family a great one. Next time, I will make a reservation though.

Everything about El Tipico was fantastic! The service was great. We were met with smiles and helpful suggestions. A nice atmosphere to enjoy our dinner. The food was great. Very fresh and visually appealing as well as very tasty. The salsa couldn't have been fresher and really went well with the fresh and light chips. When our dinners arrived they looked so good. Each plate was visually appetizing with such fresh and vibrant colors. Then each bite was so tasty. This has become our go to spot!

Been eating here with my father since I was a little boy. It was the only Mexican food in Toledo he would eat after we moved to Ohio from New Mexico. They also catered my wedding, so they have two special places in my heart. VIVA EL TIPICO!

This place is a real hidden gem. I dont think I can even think of anything slightly bad to say. The food was absolutely unbelievable. The beef tips literally melted in my mouth. Be sure to make a reservation. I came a few months back and couldn't get in on a Thursday evening. This place was worth the wait. Will be back 10000%. Absolutely shocked by how good this place is.

Today, I went to El Tipico and am in awe of the welcome and care we were given at the restaurant. A member of my party has celiac disease and they went above and beyond to explain their menu and to make sure their food had the highest standards. The food was absolutely delicious and they gained my deepest respect and made me a loyal customer. I cannot wait to go again.
