Today
I
went
to
buy
my
groceries
at
food
for
less
in
Huntington
Park
California.
I
came
to
find
out
that
now
this
company
also
has
self
checkout
out.
Which
I
am
very
familiar
with
from
other
companies.
Since
I
am
not
okay
with
this
new
method
of
payment,
I
decided
to
get
in
line.
However
two
of
the
registers
had
closed
sing.
Individuals
were
finishing
their
shift
or
going
to
break.
The
other
registers
had
a
very
long
line.
I
was
in
a
hurry
so,
since
I
am
familiar
with
self
checkout,
I
decided
I
had
no
other
choice.
At
the
time
I
was
at
the
self
checkout,
there
were
not
a
lot
of
people.
My
son
and
husband
were
scanning
the
items.
When
they
finished
scanning
the
items,
and
were
getting
ready
to
pay,
an
error
message
popped
up
on
the
screen,
indicating
that
someone
would
need
to
come
help.
So
we
waited
patiently,
at
least
5-10
minutes.
The
only
person
near
to
the
self
checkout
was
a
security
guard.
I
observed
that
the
community
did
not
want
to
use
the
self
checkout,
because
they
were
confused.
Many
like
me,
due
to
not
having
any
other
choice,
and
because
the
other
open
registers
were
too
long,
decided
to
use
this
method.
An
older
couple
approached
me
and
asked
if
I
could
help.
I
said
yes.
We
were
still
waiting.
When
scanning
most
of
the
items,
we
didn't
have
a
rough
time.
I
can
tell
the
older
couple
didn't
want
to
even
touch
the
machine,
even
though
I
encouraged
them
to.
One
of
the
items
they
put
in
their
cart,
we
could
not
find.
So
the
lady
said
she
had
no
other
choice,
and
wouldn't
take
it.
That's
insane.
She
wouldn't
take
it.
The
other
closest
big
market
is
blocks
away.
On
top
of
that,
the
poor
lady's
blue
berries
fell
all
over
the
floor.
In
between
all
of
this
another
customer
asked
if
I
worked
there
because
I
was
helping
this
lady
and
responded
that
I
didn't.
By
this
time,
a
staff
member
came
to
help
one
of
the
other
people
buying
that
came
after
us.
I
let
her
know
we
needed
help
a
couple
of
times.
She
told
me
she'd
be
there
The
last
time.
The
staff
member
must
have
seen
the
chaos
and
called
their
manager
Daniel.
Right
away
someone
came
to
pick
up
the
blueberries
that
everyone
was
stepping
on.
I
told
Daniel
that
I
needed
help
and
had
been
waiting
a
while.
In
between
all
this
I
helped
the
gentleman
that
had
asked
if
I
worked
there.
When
Daniel
finally
came
to
help,
he
said
that
we
should
have
left
the
bags
on
the
scale.
Making
it
seem
like
we
were
stupid
for
not
knowing
how
to
use
their
self
checkout.
Even
though
they
should
have
employees
there
to
teach
the
community
how
to
use
the
new
damn
thing.
I
told
him
I
should
get
a
discount
for
doing
the
cashier's
job.
He
responded
to
something
like,
well
you
could
have
gotten
in
line.
Bad
management.
Bad
management.
The
cons...
-You
are
still
short
staffed.
-You
need
more
staff
in
that
section
to
guide
customers
in
our
community,
who
don't
speak
English.
-You
are
still
using
self
checkout
and
taking
jobs.
-You
need
management
that
knows
how
to
manage.
-You
need
management
and
staff
that
address
the
needs
of
their
customers
in
our
community.
Bad
business!!
