I was very disappointed to see so many negative reviews about this restaurant, especially when my personal experience couldn’t be further from them! Maybe this is because many of them are breakfast/brunch and not dinner. I had such an exceptional meal at The Mark Restaurant. The service was slightly slow at times, but this is because the restaurant was incredibly busy and there was probably not enough staff to allow for this. The atmosphere was wonderful. The bread to begin with was fresh. There was a large selection available on the menu for all tastes. I throughly enjoyed my main course of the endive salad and well cooked haricots verts. My fellow diners also enjoyed their steak and salad. Most of all, I found the quality of the desserts to be unbelievable. I was able to try both the warm chocolate cake and the fabulous grand manier soufflé. Both of which were very freshly made and I would highly recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth. Overall, a fantastic experience. I look forward to returning.

I was very skeptical about the place given all the negative reviews. After visiting the place, I find it at least ok. Service is a bit on the slow side given how many waitstaff are there. Food is a bit mixed but I like the main dishes. Overall what I would expect for the price point. More like 3.5 stars for me but I think I would bump it a bit because the current average rating doesn’t do them justice.

I had a fabulous brunch a few days ago at the Mark Restaurant! All the staffs were friendly and nice, service was on point. I thought menu was plain but it was all absolutely scrumptious. Most of all, french toast stands out and I am definitely coming back for this :)

Actually ZERO stars. We had dinner at the Mark a couple of months ago and we were beyond disappointed. So much in fact that I didn't even want to wast my time writing a review! But I just received an email from the restaurant group asking us to try their other locations, which compelled me to write this review. First the good. The service was excellent and the calamari was tasty. Now the bad. The rest of the food both in quality and preparation was abysmal. We started with a salad -- couldn't be more pedestrian. No thought, just some lettuce and other things tossed together. For the main course, we ordered a burger. Hard to screw that up -- think again. The bun was far bigger than the burger and the burger, what we could see of it, lacked any taste. I mean come on, you cant get the bun to burger ratio correct! Burger 101. We then had the fish. It was Luke warm with no thought of presentation. Add a few drinks and some coffee and the bill was $400! We were there for her birthday so we just let it slide. Do yourself a favor, stop going to these "company owned" and frequent the local one off restaurant that is still owned by a family. If Jean George saw the quality food that was served to us he would have fired the whole of these folks. Now I'm done

This review is for the CHALET restaurant pop up for the holidays at the Mark. Its outside in covered chalet style add on. Felt like you were in Alsace.great fondue the best we ever had, delicious salad and the service was great. We wanted cocktails our waiter, I think k his name was Stephen had to shuttle between the hotel bar and the chalet. He did an amazing job. Great winter experience

“Outdoor dining at The Mark? Simple, yet surprisingly serene. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t boast about its grandeur but quietly excels in what it does. The food? Well, it doesn’t put on airs. It’s not trying to be pretentious or over-the-top. It’s just genuinely good. I’ve had the pleasure of dining here on numerous occasions, and it never disappoints. The consistency is comforting, like catching up with an old friend. The quality of the food speaks for itself; it’s all about genuine flavors, no unnecessary theatrics. For an ideal lunch spot, The Mark has the winning formula – unassuming yet satisfying. Sometimes, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

I was surprised to see such low ratings of a Jean-Georges restaurant, but they're right on. The food is mediocre to fine. The chickpea fries are especially bland. Even the bread isn't that great. And of course the prices are eye watering. You can have a much better meal just about anywhere for a quarter of the price!

Fabulous dinner - the food was quite tasty, very fresh and uniquely prepared. The dessert (I got the profiteroles) was to die for. Drinks were good, though somewhat overpriced for quality. Servers were attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Will be back.

This review is for The Mark Chalet by Jean-Georges. It was a terrible dining experience. Side note - we love (LOVE) the other Jean-Georges restaurants in nyc (ABCv, abc kitchen, abc cucina) and the inn at pound ridge. Our first course was the onion tart. I’m pretty sure my dog could have prepared something better, and she doesn’t have thumbs. It tasted like it was a frozen tart that had defrosted and re-froze many times over. It also looked like something mass produced you might buy in the frozen section of any third tier supermarket. It cost more than $30. Two thumbs down. The “salad” was a few pieces of limp and flavorless mesclun. Fail. The fondue was boiling within 20 seconds of being on the flame - it was way too hot - we both have burnt tongues. There was no way to reduce the flame or lift the pot. The vegetables to dip in the fondue were old, limp, and soggy. That broccoli smell you get when broccoli needs to be thrown out. The bread was so stale and some pieces were wet. The cornichons were dried-out limp. It was the opposite of delicious and delightful. Skipped dessert to get out there as fast as possible. While we waited for the bill, the staff had trouble closing our flame and burned a hole in the table cloth. There definitely was an issue with the set-up. We wish we could time travel backwards and not spend the first day of 2024 here. 100% inedible. 100% regret. Disappointment all around.

Friends and I stopped in for a light bite to eat! We’re seated promptly and the service was great. We shared the crispy salmon, oysters, and caviar. The waiter was able to bring gluten free bread and was knowledgeable on cross contamination and gluten ingredients. Drinks were tasty as well!

Our local friends chose this restaurant for a quick dinner catch up to celebrate a bday. We sat at the nice large table right at the back of the restaurant Service was friendly and attentive. We tried the warm shrimp salad and burgers. The salad was decent but the dressing was too acidic to my tastes; the burger was okay nothing special. Thanks to the lovely gesture and brought out a dessert plate with a candle and chocolate writing of happy birthday on the plate.

Ive been here many times and have complained about the slow service a few times. We had a joke going that the check would take 30min to come. Today everything was perfect and service was truly amazing. I was offered a free cappuccino to go and had a great experience. The burrata is the best i have had in nyc and salmon was perfect. Drinks are strong and highly recomend you give it a try!

I’ve been here twice and apart from the occasional really delicious side, it lacks pretty much all of the refinements you’d expect for the price. For example, the bread arrived cold, with nearly frozen butter, instead of the warm bread and softened fresh butter you’d get from restaurants that are half the price. Also the “ambiance” went so overboard there is no actual ambiance - it was so dark we could barely read the menu, let alone then see our food. Probably won’t be back, because there are so many better options in NYC for half the price.

I was there on Christmas Day and typically dine at The Modern, Per Se, LB and just expected a Jeans Georges restaurant to be good. The food was awful. Pasta terrible…lamb chops awful. There is no apologetic staff that makes up for that poor quality food. The staff wanted to bring our entrée and put it on the table before our appetizers were even cleared. The kitchen clearly has no idea what they’re doing. The wine list is unacceptable selling burgundy wine that is not drinkable for another 10 years for $2500+ a bottle. The sommelier was a joke. The bill came to $948 for two people… glad you got your money but honestly if you care about food and wine steer clear of this place. Shame on them.

Great food but poor service. The samosas were excellent as a starter. The salmon was a bit over salted and lacked originality. The lamb chops were good. Too expensive for the overall experience. It took forever to put in our order, and also took a long time to get the check. Probably won’t return.

Review for the chalet: it’s a shameless money grab. It’s sidewalk seating with an insane price tag. There’s no privacy so you’re sitting in a fishbowl drinking your $25 glass of wine while people on the sidewalk walk by and think “what suckers.” It was dead silent inside because their speaker system broke, so instead of a cozy Christmas Eve dinner, it was awkward silence amongst strangers - like they couldn’t get a Sonos speaker or something? Fondue was fine; there’s an expectation when Jean-Georges’ name is attached and it barely met that expectation. The apples they served with the fondue were limp and my wine had a fly in it (obviously it was replaced). If it wasn’t Christmas Eve and more restaurants in the area were open and available, I would have left as soon as I sat down. It’s a social media scam.

Beautiful restaurant. Impeccable service. So difficult to choose one dish. We started off with the crispy salmon sushi and warm artichoke appetizers, and then I enjoyed The Mark burger. We also shared chickpea fries. What a treat!

Food here is amazing, which is to expected for Jean-George. Great spot for lunch before you hit the museum or a walk in Central Park. On the pricier side for sure but if great food is important to you, this is a must try.

Overall, our experience at the restaurant was delightful. The food offered amazing flavor combinations and the dishes were well-prepared. However, the Veal Zurichoise was a bit too salty, disrupting the balance of flavors. Additionally, there was a discrepancy in the service; dessert arrived promptly but the latte took an unexpectedly long 18 minutes to be served. Despite these minor issues, the restaurant provided a memorable dining experience for my family.

Poor service. The server dropped a chopstick on my shirt one time and dropped a fork again on the table without saying anything when he took my plate away. Also my friend just wanted a coke, and he finally got it after the third time he told the server. For the food, I think the appetizers are better than the entree.

The service was excellent. Hamid, our server, was especially wonderful. He overheard that it was my friend’s birthday and wrote “happy birthday” on the plate in beautiful chocolate script. He also gave us a dessert and water bottle on the house.

The service was absolutely one of a kind. From the moment you walk in, it's white glove service. The food is delightful. We did a delayed valentines/ anniversary dinner and they brought us 3 plates of desserts with hearts and we only ordered one. Compliments of the chef and to help us celebrate. You are not coming here to budget. It's an extremely high end restaurant, very high end clientele, and very much somewhere for those who can spend and want to enjoy the finer things in life. Every item was more delicious than the next! Thank you for being so thoughtful and caring to make this one of the best nights of my life!

I had been coming to the Mark before Covid and it was always good but I was a bit hesitant to return again due to all of the negative reviews. I am so happy I came back! We were seated right away, a bit before our reservation time. The service from the hostess and waiters was friendly and prompt ! We had the seafood tower and everything tasted very fresh. The salmon crispy rice were great, the pasta was delicious and the drinks strong. We finished everything off with the grand marnier soufflé and it was the perfect way to end the meal. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon and add this restaurant to my regular rotations again.
