Calabrian Chili Shrimp & gumbo. Perfect combo to warm you up before an impending Blue Island snow storm.

Butter Upon Bacon is truly a neighborhood gem! The service is always excellent- very friendly. The thought and love that goes into each dish is outstanding. Geena and Gerry truly love what they do and it shines through on the plate. Most recently, we tried the gumbo, Scrooge McDuck Melt, and the Caramel-Apple Burger. The gumbo had the perfect amount of heat and excellent flavor. We will be buying this in a much larger size next time! The Scrooge McDuck Melt- while you cannot taste the photo, trust me that every bite was amazing. The duck confit was perfect. The Caramel-Apple Burger truly unique and all the ingredients work so well together. This is a must try! RUN- DON'T walk to Butter Upon Bacon! You will NOT be disappointed!

Great Service, very friendly staff and rad vibes. A little hidden treasure tucked neatly behind Rock Island. If you ever visit Blue Island make sure to grab a Basic B*itch Burger on the way out! Stay safe and enjoy the good eats!!! Side Note: Order ahead to grab n go, I walked up to order. "Blue Island's Burger Heaven" - Michael M.

It was a blustery Tuesday afternoon when i stopped into Rock Island Public House to cool my heels for a spell. I was immediately greeted with a warm hello from Butter Upon Bacon's Gerry. He served me up a gumbo and a burger with a quickness and skill i rarely see in action. It was truly a memorable experience that I wont soon forget.

Butter Upon Bacon (inside Rock Island Public House) is definitely worth the trip to Blue Island. Gerry and Gina take the idea of “upscale bar food” kick it up a notch. The food is delicious and unique. I’ve turned my whole family into regulars for brunch and dinner. Order anything, you can’t go wrong.

Must try hidden Gem. Food is delicious I always get the THC Hot and I am never disappointed. And the desserts they have are to die for. You also have to try Chefs Gerry’s Gumbo. And why not have a delicious beer to accompany your meal.

Oh, what can I say about Butter Upon Bacon? I was introduced to them in 2019 when planning my father's memorial lunch. The owners of Rock Island Public House (where you can find Butter Upon Bacon) hosted the party for us and of course catering was the second thing on my mind. Luckily, BUBI had just started their partnership with RIPH so food was already on site! One last thing for me to worry about Honestly, they blew me away! From the menu planning, the personal touches, kindness, and STELLAR food & service during a really difficult time for my family - everything was pitch perfect. That started my love affair. Geena & Gerry put their heart and soul into the food they serve and you can tell. A seasonally rotating menu, a monthly brunch that always impresses, holiday catering options that are interesting and delicious, and one of the best burgers you can get (so many places mess up a burger, but not BUBI). And they make their own sausage. I haven't even said anything about the desserts yet: homemade small batch ice cream in the summer, the Italian Tri-color cookies (possibly my favorite cookie ever), caramels, and an impressive menu of baked confections for your party needs. They are a gem. They are amazing people. And the food is perfection (whether I call ahead for take out or I'm stopping in for a cocktail). So much so, that I only have a few pictures - because I usually just want to dive in to my meal.

Excellent food! Jerry is a very personable guy who loves his job and makes you feel very welcome! We had the Fried Pickles, Basic B*tch burger and Fish N’ Chips…. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back to try more! Highly recommend coming to check this place out! 5+ stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
